  1. Like I said before, I've posted some scathing reviews on the MPC, but I've always kept it objective and also mentioned the (few) good things the MPC has going for it. I mean, those are some pretty sweet landing gears! As for the differences betweeen Macross and Robotech, I've always kept it civil. I can empathize with the newbies on there. After all, it's not like I was born knowing the differences between Macross and Robotech. Someone had to tell me.
  2. hmmmm personally the EE I found to be flawless in its editing and the stuff added added so much IMHO. So I want all the extended versions. Most definitely. I was blown by the lengths Jackson went to include the extra scenes. I mean, he just didn't slap them in there blindly. He had the music rescored so that the EE scenes would seamlessly blend in, that's marvelous! The DTS audio was a much welcomed addition too! I don't care if it cost $50, I would've bought that set regardless. As for TTT EE, I'll probably burn...I mean rent it first, since I was dissapointed with its theatrical release (due to the poor editing). But if TTT EE is truly gold, then I'll buy it.
  3. At this point, a 20th anniversary edition is unlikely, but I'd place money on a 25th anniversary edition.
  4. It would be awesome if they included music, with the DVD format, they could include tons of streamed music. But they'd have to license each song they'd want to include, here's hoping they spend the extra buck to go the extra mile.
  5. Ditto, never been booted either. I've even posted some objective (however not pleasant) reviews on their MPC back in the day.
  6. I'll wait for the uber box set. I got the Fellowship EE the first day it was released, but I passed on TTT completely, the editing on that one left me underwhelmed. The jury's still out on ROTK, but I've been getting the impression that Jackson won't be waiting much longer after ROTK to release the uber box set, so I think I can wait it out.
  7. IIRC, .fcd stands for "Fake CD." If this is what I think it is, then you have to convince the emulator that the .fcd file is being read as a full cd and not an individual file on your hd. Anyways, it's the game minus the redbook audio, so you'll lose 98% of the games music and voices. Sorry if this info is wildy inaccurate, but I don't know much about .fcd's since I own the real CD-ROM's.
  8. Cool story, Rob. IIRC from my physics class, your story makes logical sense. Upon impact, the armor (being on the outermost along with low density) would easily absorb most of the kinetic energy, sparing the Valkyrie from most of it. The final burst of energy would be released in all the little pieces snapping off the Valkyrie. We got any physics majors around here to see if my memory is worth beans?
  9. The bookends look great, except for: 1) I only own 1 MPC 2) I don't think the Valkyrue and Regult are done to scale (nitpicky, yeah I know).
  10. I'm definitely picking up this set. SDC Southern Cross is, by far, superior to The Robotech Masters.
  11. The Slide Card should boot CDR's and DVDR's too. The actual slide card prevents the PS2 from detecting that the front tray has been opened, thereby allowing you to boot with the Magic Disc and replace said disc with a burn or import. I've used the Magic Discs in conjunction with solderless mods with success. Like ewilen wrote, the CD Magic disc (not to be confused with the DVD Magic Disc) didn't boot psx games, but I got an older version of the CD Magic Disc to boot fine. I guess the latter CD Magic Discs have an error in their boot code, or just aren't compatible with my PS2 model. ***waits for esta to come by and tell us how lame we are for using mods and not buying an import PS2
  12. According to Macek (Robotech Art 1), "Ippei Kuri" was the pen name of Anime Friend's president.
  13. I believe you are correct about that. However, this "YF-1R" isn't exactly a new derivative. Thanks to Animefiend it did appear in at least one clip. So...animation error?...Yes Monstrosity?...Yes. New derivative? Technically...No. However, hopefully we won't see any more "mutants" in the VF line that didn't appear in the series! (That is if we are both right about HG's in-ability to create any new derivatives) That was actually going to be my second point. For the same reasons you listed above, I wouldn't consider the YF-1R a derivative. *But*, the Jack Archer color scheme is. cwbrown, thank you for you insights into copyright law. I was just wondering if HG had overstepped it's jurisdiction with the new color scheme.
  14. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't one of the ruling's state that while TP/HG is able to exploit the characters and mecha in Macross (merchandise-wise), they cannot create derivatives from said characters and mecha?
  15. That, or Toynami is milking the VF-1 cow one more (final?) time. Toynami's even guilty of stealing pages from Yamato's marketing book.
  16. I've always believed that Ivana Gunther was a human woman possessed by the male protodevlin, Gepelnitch. I'm not surprised by Ivana's lack of breasts in the finale, didn't Gepelnitch also remove her legs and add in some sort of tentacle extensions? So what's to stop Gepelnitch from removing his hosts' breasts?
  17. 1 - Jetfire 1 - Strike Valkyrie 1 - 1990 Super VF-1S 2 - Re-issue Hikaru VF-1J 1 - Re-issue CF 1 - Re-issue Hikaru VF-1A 1 - Re-issue Max VF-1J 1 - Re-issue Millia VF-1J 2 - Re-issue Hikaru Super VF-1S Total: 11 Chunky Monkey's! Say "No" to anorexic arms, and "Yes" to swingbars! w00t!
  18. I'm still a little quesy about a 3D Macross game. I'm going to have to "test" this game out before I buy it.
  19. Sigh, money and macrossworld don't mix. The instant Shawn starts accepting money (be it in the form of memberships, seller fees, donations, etc), MW runs the risk of becoming a commercial site instead of a fan site. One of the ramifications of MW being deemed a commercial site is that all of the copyrighted images on here must be taken down. Besides, can anyone tell me the last time Shawn griped about money issues? The last time I heard him mention that, it must've been last year. Old news folks. Bottom line: if Shawn needs help, he'll let us know.
  20. Wow man, that's awesome. I wish I could've had the chance to watch a 35mm version of DYRL in a real theatre.
  21. IIRC, DYRL was released in Hong Kong as Super Space Fortress Macross. This was released in 1987 (or 89) and had nothing edited out. After 1992, every version of DYRL included the Flashback Minmay concert at the end. CotB is horrible, it was a hack job done for Americans.
  22. Two words: Fortess Maximus! I'm still kicking myself for passing him over when I was a kid, I just didn't think my parents would get him for me. F.M. has proven how desirable large toys are. With the 1/60 Monster on the horizen, I don't think Yamato is too concerned with size. Nor are they concerned with fans on limited budgets, they cater towards collectors. Also, wasn't Yamato's CEO on record, saying how he "wants to shock the world"? Bring on the VF-4's, VF-17's, etc in 1/48. B)
  23. Thank you. Emiko's posts were deleted with good reason. If this thread ressurects that information, however indirectly, it too will get deleted. Moving on...
  24. I'd also like to know what's different. From the picture posted above, those legs are dead ringers for bandai's.
  25. So there will be an updated version of the Special Edition ANH?
