I always figured the green Q-Rau was unlikely since Yamato would have to modify their molds (the DYRL and TV Q-Rau's have a few physical differences). At this point, having plans for a 1/48 GBP would be foolish as they have no idea how well a 1/60 GBP will sell. If you want a 1/48 GBP, you better pray it's 1/60 cousin sells through the roof.

MPC Alphas...How much is too much?
TheLoneWolf replied to inheuk's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
$40 max. I feel the toy itself is worth $30, but I'll toss in an extra $10 due to Gakken scarcity. I believe prices will drop as the Mospeada/New Generation audience isn't as large as the Macross audience, and look at how quickly the first MPC's dropped in price. -
Yawn. Nothing's changed. Same sh**, different day.

Any Neo Geo fans out there?
TheLoneWolf replied to StealthLurker's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
DC ports would rock!! One can only hope. If I'm not mistaken, KOF NeoWave is the 3D KOf, whereas KOF 2004 will be the 'normal' KOF. -
I'm all for it!

Yeehaw! New titles announced for the Atomiswave: Metal Slug 6, Samurai Spirits AW, The King Of Fighters NeoWave, and (gasp!) King of Fighters 2004! http://gameonline.jp/news/2004/02/20007.html As much as I love the old MVS hardware, it's time to move on. -
As usual, awesome scans. Also, thanks for the review Graham!

I'm with Sebastion on this one. With the exception of the Valkyrie booster, all these kits have already been produced in one form or the other. Also, I wouldn't plop down $100 for a kit that Yamato may or may not produce in the next few years. I'd want a kit that has never been done before and has almost no chance of ever seeing mass production, like a 1/48 Stampeed or Thunder Hummer conversion kit.

I've got a watercolor Super Valkyrie. I know the scan is horrible, I made it 7 years ago when I was a newbie. The res, cropping, and angling all went to hell, which is why I named it Valerror.jpg Anyways, I think it's a nice picture and I could rescan it, but the background clashes with the white & yellow bg of the wrap-around. If someone would be willing to make the bg lighter, or even had a white frame around the image, it might work.

Wow DA! You've outdone yourself with that last design. It has everything past submissions didn't: - similiar and/or matching background colors - focus points flow much better - all the art is by the same artist, no more clashing styles - all three series are represented! Finally some balance! The only nitpick (and a minor one at that) I have is that there are no mecha nor SDF-1. The lone top cover would be the best bet as it won't mar the wrap-around. Btw, MW has a very nice Mikimoto-ish piece with both SDF-1 and Skull-1. Hell, it's probably close to the target dpi too. http://www.macrossworld.com/macross/art/vf1s_valkyrie.jpg

Am I the only one who's noticed that most of the people who ask whether they got a good deal on e-bay usually did get a good deal? Looking at e-bay's past auctions? Nahhh. Bragging rights? Nahhh. Khyron, I'm not singling you out or anything. Just something I've noticed for the past 3 years.

Who would you want to date on valentine's day ?

11, 14, does it even matter? -
Very nice box art. The design itself reminds of me of vintage anime posters and covers, which suits Macross perfectly.

Please take my name off the potential buyers list. I was looking for an SDF Macross box, not a DYRL box.

Harmony Gold & Toynami releasing DYRL? Toys
TheLoneWolf replied to Duke Togo's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Yes, and I'm sure several of us here noticed that a long time ago. Toynami's been known to read these boards, so you've just done them a tremendous favor. I can see Toynami's future ads for this one: Toynami: "We did so much research into bringing you DYRL accuracy, that the arm armor is even different! Bet you guys didn't know that!" Robotechies: "Oooooooh!" -
Robotech Re-mastered basically Animeigo DVD set?

shensei, since your old post got locked, you may want to try to post a more in-depth version and post it to the review section. Just make sure it includes several details and objectivity. -
Harmony Gold & Toynami releasing DYRL? Toys
TheLoneWolf replied to Duke Togo's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Way ahead of you, G. When the proto pics of the MPC armor first showed up, I mentioned that their booster tips were meant to come off for a reason. Toynami's probably had the Strike Cannon done for a long time now. I guess that they were just too scared to release it before, or they decided it would be better to milk the armor some more with a v2.0 release. Edit: Pic taken from http://www.valkyrie-exchange.com Kevin, if you've got any problems, just PM me and I'll remove it. -
Harmony Gold & Toynami releasing DYRL? Toys
TheLoneWolf replied to Duke Togo's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Could you point out your source on this? At first I had heard that Toynami had compensated the creator of the Wonderfest kit for using the design as their SuperPoseables. But then someone told me that he wasn't compensated, and wasn't asked, although they did officially credit him in some way. I'm just curious what the actual story is behind this. I know for a fact that Toynami didn't have Banpresto's permission when using the Banpresto SD Keychain designs, nor did they have Bandai's permission in using their designs for the MPC (as much as people say it isn't a copy, it is. just deal with it.) So I'm curious what the actual story is between the Wonderfest kits and the SuperPoseables*? I don't have any sources, just a good memory. I don't remember any talk of Toynami actually paying for the designs - just getting permission to use the overall design. It would make sense that if they got permission there would be money involved but it would not be in Toynami's character to pay for designs. I can back up Jawjaw on that, I definitely remember reading an official statement that Toynami did get permission to use the Wonder Fest kits as Super Posables. -
Yamato doing anything for DYRL 20th anniversary?
TheLoneWolf replied to Shin Densetsu Kai 7.0's topic in Toys
I don't see that happening. We all saw what happened when Bandai competed against Yamato in 2001 - 2002, the market just wasn't big enough. There's absolutely no logical reason why Bandai should try to compete with Yamato. Similiar to what I wrote before, the only M0 toys Bandai would produce would be gashapons or figurines. They're cheap to produce and easy as sin to sell. -
Yamato doing anything for DYRL 20th anniversary?
TheLoneWolf replied to Shin Densetsu Kai 7.0's topic in Toys
After the 1/55 reissue debacle, the only things I see Bandai releasing for the 20th will be cheesy gashapons, keychains, and figurines. The 1/55 line will be dead for the foreseeable future. But Yamato, I think they'll probably go the repaint route (as usual). -
Hey garoquel, did you ever make a design for the boxcase's slipcover? If so, would you mind us using it? Btw, your individual DVD jackets are amazing. Another thing, am I the only one bothered by the fact that despite that while DYRL is only 1 disc of the 13, it makes up for 50% (or more, depending on the design) of the box's art?
-
Check your PM, I've got spare Yamato parts for sale.

The videogames also have some pretty slick artwork. Here's the cover to the Famicom game: Someone needs to make a larger scan, as the piss poor resolution does not do that art justice. Another cool one is the Scrambled Valkyrie box cover. Too bad it's got writing all over it.

Star Wars OT on DVD - Official - Sept 21st
TheLoneWolf replied to Blaine23's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
It hasn't yet happened on VHS after at least 2 releases past when they announced it would be the last time the movies were going to be available in that cut. I find that enormously refreshing that they're sticking to their word instead of milking it more. Hmm, good point. For the past 10 years, VHS has been less than an afterthought in my mind. This could be the one instance where Lucas will forego the dollar in order to preserve his warped sense of pride. If that's the case, I wonder why the LD's aren't skyrocketing in price? -
