I realize I'm late to the party, but here's my Mac7 experience. I used to be the biggest Macross 7 hater. I never wasted a moment to bash the series, but then Valkyrie and LanceW forced me to watch it. The first twelve episodes were excruciatingly bad, they were just so repetitive. But after ep 13, the plot got moving and I became interested. By episode 26, I was hooked. The series isn't without it's flaws, but it was an overall worthwhile experience. Most people watch the first two to four episodes and write off the series. The series is light on the mecha and heavy on the fun, but you have to remember that that's what Macross Plus was for. Both series were released at about the same time for a reason: Macross Plus for the serious mecha heads, and Macross 7 for the fun loving j-pop fans.

The real deal with Harmony Gold and DYRL
TheLoneWolf replied to Apollo Leader's topic in Movies and TV Series
Hey, nobody told me the Robotech and HG license debates thread was moved to this forum. My bad, this is a whole new thread. It's just the same crap, different forum. Renato, I've scanned the entire Saturn booklet in the hopes of putting to rest this urban legend. While my Japanese is on par with my ability to pilot a Valkyrie, I'm going to go out on a limb when I say there's nothing of interest in this booklet. It's all here in a 1.2 meg .zip hosted on another site. I've used up enough of Shawn's bandwidth http://tiger.towson.edu/~kmudd2/macross/DY...urn_Booklet.zip -
The real deal with Harmony Gold and DYRL

Hey man, I offered to scan them a few months ago, but you never replied, so I never bothered to go ahead with it. Anyways, here are a couple of pages. I could scan the rest of the booklet later, but it's just characters bios and mecha listings, at least as far as I can tell. If you need higher res scans for clarity, just say so. -
The real deal with Harmony Gold and DYRL
TheLoneWolf replied to Apollo Leader's topic in Movies and TV Series
The difference this time is that they've already gone ahead and released DYRL toys. Toynami has had plenty of oppurtunities over the past 4 years to exploit DYRL designs, yet they've avoided it as if they honestly believed they did not have that right. But now, Toynami has released DYRL toys. HG must have shown Toynami some very convincing evidence, because no company makes this sort of financial commitment on a bluff. -

And I always wondered why the MPC Super Armor had removable booster tips. Can we say Masterpiece Strike Valkyries? -
Ghost X-9: Chaff or Atmospheric Explosive?
TheLoneWolf replied to Aurel Tristen's topic in Movies and TV Series
I sold off my Manga DVD's a while ago and never looked back. But IIRC, my reciever's display indicated that a 5.1 signal was being recieved from the English audio track, whereas the Japanese track was just 2.0. On the R2's, everything is 2.0. -
Ghost X-9: Chaff or Atmospheric Explosive?
TheLoneWolf replied to Aurel Tristen's topic in Movies and TV Series
Actually, the R2 box sets are a mixed bag. Like Nanashi wrote, the video is far superior to the Manga versions. The colors are just right (Manga screwed them up) and there is less pixelation. However, the audio is a different story! The R2's feature Dolby Digital 2.0 whereas Manga's features the better Dolby Digital 5.1 mix! To be fair, the R2's came out before Manga's release, before DD 5.1 was the standard. If you're watching the DVD's on a TV, you won't notice the difference, but on a full blown home theatre system, it's painfully obvious Anyways, if you guys are looking for clean images (ie: no lame tags or watermarks) and possibility of owning your own "box set", check out this thread from last week. 56k'ers beware. http://www.macrossworld.com/mwf/index.php?...pic=5050&st=820 -
Valkyrie and JB0 did a great job with the details. But one thing to note before you go on a buying spree: don't bother buying US Hu cards, they won't work on a Japanese system. There are converters out there like the Barney converter, but the reliable ones can go for as much as a US system on e-bay.

Don't believe in X-Men/Mutants...?

I was going to post this and call it: Agent One & Arnold have a baby -

did I mention that the YF-19 cockpit image is actually a wrap-around image? This is the back of it. Combined with a mid-section (not scanned), you get a wonderfully long shot of the 19.

Did someone mention collage images? Trust me, the best is yet to come. Will post more when I get back from doing volunteer work with the county.

For SALE Section needs some Rules!
TheLoneWolf replied to Kamineko's topic in MW Site News & Member Feedback
I have to disagree with you, the Mechafreak incident is situational. Approximately once every year there is a major scam (excluding the auctions, trade, wanted forums since we're not discussing those) in the For Sale section. It's not like people are getting scammed every week or even every month. However, I do agree that the drama has always been there. What else would you expect from a bunch of 30 year old male virgins living in mommy's basement. There's one major difference between a business and the For Sale section: Business owners pay money to set up shop. None of us are paying a dime to peddle our wares here, if crap happens, oh well Btw, Kamineko, I think a pop-up is a great idea. Just as long as it's three lines max and uses simple terms. Anything more and a newbie will close it and dive in head-first. -
As Zero Draws to a Close.....a Question or 10.
TheLoneWolf replied to Mechamaniac's topic in Movies and TV Series
Knowing Kawamori, by series end we'll know more about the Megaroad-01 than AIPHOS. There is just way too much crap to explain in 30 minutes, especially when Macross finales tend to weigh more on the action side. I'm also waiting for the Macross to make it's appearence. I mean, how could you call it a Macross series without a "Macross"? -
One more thing to add: head swaps won't work because the backpack and wings are still exposed.

It does make sense, but everyone here would scream bloody murder if Yamato went that route. Expensive non-transformable Valkyries and Macross fanboys don't mix. And yes, they would be expensive, Yamato isn't a charity service. Also, one of the appealing aspects of the current 1/60 GBP is that you can put it on any 1/60 Valkyrie out there (excluding the 2-seaters). With the armor molded on, you won't be able to have a GBP Max, Roy, Milia, or CF unless you want to buy multiples.

For SALE Section needs some Rules!
TheLoneWolf replied to Kamineko's topic in MW Site News & Member Feedback
As a guy who's been here since the beginning, I can say that the recent drama and flare ups are merely situational. Inevitably, there are going to be noisy times, but unless they last for months on end, there's nothing to be concerned about. No amount of new rules are going to prevent scams, hecklers, and all-around 'cattiness.' The only effective deterrent is swift action by the mods. -
The Hot Anime Cosplay Chicks Thread
TheLoneWolf replied to bake_art's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Oh, god, she's such a b*tch..... Not only did she insult our cosplay group to our faces, but she also makes a rule of being as stuck up and egotistical as she possibly can be, and only seems to ever cosplay one character. Easy cowboy, it's just cosplay. While those comments are in no way directed towards her looks, it's possible they could snowball in that direction. Anywayyyyys... -
Hang tight, Anubis. Once Slow-Ass-Celga gets me my R2 DVD's, I should be able to provide some real nice scans. I have this CD cover and can scan it. It's got a few small nicks on it, but nothing a Photoshop master couldn't fix.
