Transformers Super Thread 4: The Return
TheLoneWolf replied to Dangard Ace's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
I don't think it'll be 6 to 8 months for the silencer and extended clip to come out; if the MPC Prime is any indication it could take up to 2 years, that's how long it took for Takara to release Prime's trailer. Unlike Yamato, Takara seems to wait a long time in-between reissues. -
The scene was never shot in it's entirety because they never finished making the complete Wampa costume in Empire, which is why when it attacks Luke you only ever see the head and claw. Since the costume was never finished, they weren't able to shoot footage of the wampa(s) actually attacking the storm troopers, only the footage of C-3P0 ripping off the sign was shot. They did finish making the Wampa costume for the Empire SE, so theoretically the scene could be very easily recreated since only costumed characters appear in it (storm troopers, wampa(s), and C-3P0).

Downloading the ISO's for Macross DYRL for Saturn might be kinda tricky since ISO's are pretty large by nature (500+ mb usually). On top of that, Macross DYRL encompasses two CD's and, sadly, isn't in high demand. Your best shot would be to try IRC or possibly a torrent site specializing in Saturn ISO's.

The Aim for the Top! Gunbuster Thread v2.0

That'll work assuming the video segments are the exact same length, and I mean down to the millisecond. If Bandai decides to throw in their logo at the beginning or shave off some of the introductory black before the actual anime starts, the subtitles will be thrown off sync. And I'd imagine that re-timing them would be very time consuming. edit: The same notion applies to replacing the edited R1 audio track with the unchanged R2 audio track. They have to be the same precise length. -
Great cosplay pictures! What game did you get the VF-4 images from?

Actually, you said "Orguss" A guy can dream, right?

Ugh, too small and not enough details for that price. If it were around $50 I'd grab one in a heartbeat. However unlikely, I hope Wave releases another version with minimal die-cast at a lower cost. They would definitely sell more this way.
-
Very nice work, Yamato! They've definitely exceeded my expectations on this one, but those hinges that hold the wings up in Gerwalk mode scare me. Even if they don't snap, I'm worried that the wings will start to droop after a few months.
-
I'd go for them at 1/60 scale for $40 each max, but I doubt Yamato would that generous with the price. Though, the Destroids would prime material for repaints! Just imagine, desert camo, forest camo, snow camo, and of course don't forget the battle-damaged Destroid complete with flatbed truck to haul away it's carcass! edit: At 1/60 scale, you could also fit them all in an uber special giftset.

Let's keep this thread on Macross or move it to the Anime or Science Fiction.

The 1/60 VF-1 is a mixed bag. Excluding the 1S head, it's proportions are more accurate to the lineart than the 1/48's and 1/55's. The 1/60 also has much better hands/fists than the 1/48's rat claws. The die-cast metal also gives it a real nice weight! On the downside is the 1/60's transformation. Several parts need to be removed (heatshield/canopy, legs, nosecone plug) and Gerwalk mode can be floppy due to the way the legs attach to the body. For this reason I consider the VF-1 1/60 to be a model/toy hybrid since it reminds me of the old Bandai models which required you to remove so many parts to transform. One last thing to consider is that the DYRL Hikaru 1A, Max 1A, Roy 1S (non-FP version), and brown 1A cannot be equipped with Fast Packs.
-
Because that would require a new head sculpt. The DYRL and TV 1A heads are different.

Graham, tell Yamato thanks for being so forthcoming with us. I really didn't expect this many straight answers I'm gonna have to think about he SV-51. I love the fighter mode, but the battroid mode lacking. I guess it'll all boil down to the pricetage, which isn't looking to optimistic. Good guess Shin, I think you're right about Orguss toys from Yamato. At least I hope so!

It's been a while, but once you get to the disc swap screen, open the Saturn lid as you normally would and replace it with disc 2. Close the lid, then his the restart button (not the power off) on the Saturn. The Saturn will boot and take you to the Saturn menu (or AR menu), then press the Start Application/Start Game button. Disc 2 should load up and continue from where you left off, no saving is required in between discs.

Yes. The PS1 game is completely different. It's a 2D side scroller shooter. It's really just two discs, the third disc contains a demo for VFX2 and Patlabor. Purely a judgement call. The PS1 version is a very easy 2D side scroller, but contains cinema scenes from the movie along with a few new ones. The rest of the games you mentioned are 3D. Yes. Though some older mod chips that won't allow it.

Which one would I never give away? That's easy: 1/55 Elintseeker! That's because it would be so hard to get another MIB one. Now which toy do I think is best overall? Ask me again once my 1/60 YF-19 arrives from BigBadToyStore...which looks to be next spring

That answers that, thanks for the responses.

Quoted for truth! I'd noticed a growing trend of parents buying two of each system (2 PS2's, 2 DS's, etc), so I decided to ask while ringing up their sales. The answer is always "so my kids won't have to fight over who gets to play." Way to go teaching your kids about patience and sharing. More importantly, it now seems parents will gladly pay a premium just to get kids their kids out of their hair. One has to wonder what the long term consequences will be. I agree with yellowlightman's comment that the wii-mote not being good for *everything*. Guilty Gear or any fighting game which require's millisecond timing to pull off large combos will be unplayable on the wii-mote. The classic pad or GC controller will be a must. Speaking of which, does anyone actually have the classic pad? I took a look at a used one at my store and the cord was barely 4 feet long. Is it supposed to connect to the wii-mote or the system? If it goes to the system, I guess no one told Nintendo that Americans don't have 6 x 6 family rooms like they do in Japan.

Finally the PSP is getting put to good use! How big is your memory stick? With ISO's being around 400 - 600mb you'd be only able to fit a few games per stick? Also, does the emulator know to save your games back onto the memory stick? Finally, is there any frameskip?

I worked at a videogame store over the Christmas weekend and I was only asked a total of 3 times if we had any PS3's in stock. We did have six systems in stock (3 20 giggers, 3 60 giggers) and didn't sell any of them, but this probably had to do with the fact that we were selling bundles only. I wasn't surprised that we didn't sell any PS3's, but what shocked me was the utter lack of interest in the system. I don't know if people were apathetic because they've resigned themselves to the fact that they won't be getting one (due to price or alleged scarcity) or they just don't care about the system overall. What were the big sellers were the Nintendo Wii's and DS's. People gobbled up our used chunky DS' even after I warned them that it was the "old" DS system and not the sleeker Lite version

Definitely not a Macross related series, there aren't any tree-hugging hippies in the lineup! -
If I still had it I would. I deleted it when I broke down and bought the Gold Book. Sorry!

Did you try 'anime artbook torrents'? It's possible that it's no longer seeded. If that's the case then the next place to check would be the IRC anime artbook channels. When I downloaded it it was a massive .zip file with high res scans of each page. Whoever did it removed each individual page and scanned it in it's entirety. The way I see it, you've got two options here: Option A) spend a couple hours searching through torrents and/or IRC for it. Or... Option B) spend a couple weeks collecting the money, finding the book, buying the book, the dozens of hours spent shearing and scanning each individual page (it's a couple hundred IIRC), assembling and distilling the .pdf, and finally finding suitable host space or burning it onto CD's for the donaters. Maybe I've just taken too many blows to the head in my day, but I'd go with Option A.

Save your Gold Book and hop on Google. Someone's already done this.
