It does have next episode previews. I'll check my Japanese discs when I get home to hear what it says.

Macross Plus Remaster Box /Macross 7 TV/OVA
TheLoneWolf replied to jet660's topic in Movies and TV Series
wow That probably took them all of 5 minutes in Photoshop. I hope Bandai spent more time than that on the actual encoding process. Don't forget, just because it's on Blu doesn't guarantee knock-out video quality. Bandai needs to seriously work on the encoding and possibly remaster the original print to take full advantage of the Blu format. In comparison, I have Bandai Visual's Macross Plus DVD box set. While the quality is better than Manga's R1 release (which isn't saying much), the video quality is hardly better than my old Macross Plus laserdiscs and really didn't take advantage of the DVD format. I didn't hold it against Bandai since M+ was one of the early DVD releases in Japan, but now M+ is once again an early adopter of the Blu format, let's hope that history doesn't repeat itself. -
Is Kojima in love with Southern Cross? That must explain his obsession with putting Snake in skin tight suits. The last thing I want to see is Snake bending over in a skin tight suit in HD.

1/60 YF-21 - Will you be picking up the 1st release version?
TheLoneWolf replied to TheLoneWolf's topic in Toys
I'll also be waiting for a 2nd or 3rd release. I definitely want the FAST Packs so I'll just wait and get the FP version with all the fixes. -
Nuff said. Though I wish there was a way to lock polls to votes only.

COUGHBULLSH1TCOUGH Yamato has never released that many physically different VF's in such a short amount. If they did they would oversaturate the market. Now go play in traffic.

I just saw some of Revoltech's other toys in person and boy are they small! They're about as tall as your average female CMS figure. I must say that what Revoltech has done with toys this small is absolutely amazing, but it's still too small for my tastes.

Transformers Super Thread 5
TheLoneWolf replied to David Hingtgen's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
I was at Otakon this weekend and I saw an unusual Optimus Prime toy at $100. I believe it was a reissue in the classic G1 packaging, but the weird part was that the box was a perfect replica of the 1980's USA packaging right down to the vintage Hasbro logo. There was no mention of Takara, the new Hasbro logo, 2007, or any kanji characters anywhere. The guy selling them had about 6 of these toys and all the boxes were absolutely flawless, came with the styrofoam packing, and the toys looked dead mint. The only thing that made me scratch my head was that some of the Prime's came with the stickers on his trailer and some didn't. The dealer assured me that each toy came with a full sticker sheet, but I don't ever recall Takara/Hasbro sometimes forgetting to apply stock stickers onto their toys. Was this a bootleg or the new Encore reissue? Because as far as I can tell, the box is absolutely indistinguishable from the 1980's box. Oh yeah, the same dealer was selling G1 Bumblebee's and Rumble/Buzzsaw combos too at $35. Same deal, perfect G1 USA packaging with no mention of it being a reissue. edit: I asked the dealer what the story was and he said these were reissues for Japan to celebrate the release of the new TF movie. I would've completely bought it if it weren't for some of Prime's trailers missing their stickers. -

That is absolutely marvelous!!! :o And don't worry about posting larger pics, in fact please do! -
I'm pretty sure somewhere in this thread someone said that they downloaded the latest update and it did upscale SD DVD's to near HD quality.

I think you're in a unique position to wait since you're an A/V junkie and not really a hard core gamer. As a gamer, the reason I'm tempted to pounce on the $100 savings is that I want a PS3 that will include actual PS2 hardware so that it'll play nearly all PS2 games flawlessly. If I decide to wait until next year, the newer PS3's will drop the PS2 hardware in favor of software emulation which will result in lower PS2 game compatibility. But since you don't really play PS2 games you can wait until next year or even later when the PS3 price drops even further. And believe me, the price will drop. As for me, I've decided to buy a used 60gb version once the used prices hit the mid $300's. Sony has put together a very robust system with the PS3 so I have no problem going with used. It also helps to work in a video game store where I can pick out the best used system for myself.
-
This makes no sense to me. Basically, Sony is only dropping the price of the 60gb version to $500 until it sells out, which should be approximately 4 - 6 months, after which customers will have no choice but to purchase the 80gb version at the regular price of $600. Sure Sony will push a lot of units in that 4 - 6 month window, but not enough to catch up anywhere near the 360 and Wii userbase. Furthermore, in my store I'd say 25% of the PS3's we've sold have been to A/V enthusiasts (like JsARCLIGHT) who don't plan on purchasing any PS3 games and just want a cheap BD player. This isn't the type of customer that Sony wants since they sell their consoles at a loss and bank on profits made from game sales. At this point, the only thing left that Sony could do to shock me is increase the price of the PS3 by an extra $100

The Xbox 360 Thread Elite Edition
TheLoneWolf replied to Apollo Leader's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
Shane Kim, vice president of Microsoft Game Studios, said in an interview that they are planning a price-cut for the 360. It's not a 65nm announcement, but I'll take it! http://www.bloomberg.com/apps/news?pid=206...&refer=home -
Don't listen to Keith. I had MGS2 for both the PS2 and the XB and the XB port was identical to the PS2 except that the game didn't feel right using the Xbox controller. Obviously this wasn't due to Konami's inability to port the game properly, and if you had never played the PS2 version you wouldn't have noticied. The XB version did have the extra VR missions and Snake Tales, but I didn't care for them and fortunately the game didn't require you to play them either.

It seems everything ends up on 4chan! Anyways, BoB is a member here on MW, his full username is Beware of Blast. Though I doubt he'd mind you using his picture as a reference.

Macross 25th Anniversary! New TV series coming!
TheLoneWolf replied to wolfx's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
That's my guess too. The 1995 entry is just Kawamori detailing the current timeline. The entry that everyone should be focusing on is the 20XX date. BUT, if Kawamori is indeed creating a Macross AU, then here's my pick for Macross 25's new heroes. -
You're absolutely right, for the most part the VT and VE bodies are identical except for the heads. But there's also another difference, it could be minor or it could require a serious modification to fighter mode. In fighter mode (no FAST Packs), the VT-1 Ostrich head is completely hidden within the body (maybe that's why it's called "Ostrich"). Unlike the other VF's, the eye-piece on the head doesn't face forward in fighter mode either. Instead it faces down, then is completely pulled into the body. Check out this pic taken from Mr. March's awesome MMM. There may be enough room in Yamato's existing 1/48 to completely encompass the head in fighter mode, or Yamato's going to have their work cut out for them. Either way, neither Bandai's 1/55 nor Yamato's 1/60 Ostrich managed to figure this one out.
-
Doubtful. Yamato would need to do some moderate tooling to their VF-1 molds and create entirely new FAST Packs from scratch. On top of that, I don't think Yamato could sell variants of the Elintseeker and Ostrich to make it worth their while. I mean how many paint variants could they plausibly market for a training and intelligence gathering mecha?
-
I think BoB would be flattered to see that you're using his artwork as your reference.
-
I think prices for the 1/55 Elintseeker and Super Ostrich were low for the past couple of years because people expected Yamato to do 1/48 versions of them both. But I think now they're beginning to realize that Yamato won't do it, so these two 1/55's are on back on the upswing again.
