    VF11B

The reason I was surprised is that in the animation it makes the VF11B look like it's around the same size. In M+ Isamu's VF-11B doesn't look that much smaller than Guld's YF-21 (which is as large as a VF-19) in episode 1. And in M7 none of the VF-11C's look significantly smaller than Basara's Fire Valkyrie. Although since it is TV animation I'm not going to give it much credit, but I would like to think that the M+ OAV would get the sizes right.
  2. Another excellent job! I love how you modded the resin Tread to connect with the plastic Legioss. And the custom MB 07 decals were a nice touch! Did you enter this in a modeling contest? If so, I hope you won! Can't wait to see your next kit!

    VF11B

Really? Yamato's VF-11B looks like a shrimp compared to Bandai's 1/65 Fire Valkyrie.
  4. Thanks for the link, that's what I thought.
  5. So I'll be getting Halo 3 tomorrow from my job, but the store manager told me not to get online with it until the street date because MS will be able to track down which store the disc came from. Is this just him BS'ing me or is this real? I've heard of some CD's having unique serial numbers embedded onto them, but it's an expensive process and I seriously doubt MS would spend this much money just to keep a few people from hopping online early with the game. I remember that Crackdown had a serial on it for the H3 beta, but was it actually a serial number or just an executable on the first batch of discs that allowed it to download the beta?
  6. Good question! My 1/55 Elintseeker doesn't have a data card either. To date, I've never seen an Elintseeker or Super Ostrich data card. And the 1/55 Strike Valkyrie did come out before the Elint and SuperO.
  7. From your experiences in Japan can you say if home theaters systems are popular over there? From my understanding, most Japanese homes are fairly small so I always wondered if they were willing to sacrifice space for a home theater setup.
  8. Except that VF-1's and Destroids cost a lot more than cars. Like Zinjo said, Mac7 is a satire hence the clown Valkyries.
  9. Thanks for the translation! If I'm not mistaken, isn't this pretty unusual for an anime tv series? I can't recall the last anime TV series that had such a huge gap between the pilot episode and the regular series. Be careful what you wish for, there's always the possibility that Macross Frontier could make Manimal look like an Emmy winning series.
  10. That is a SICK custom, I love it! Though I don't quite get the point of the upside down tailfin. And if it transforms to battroid mode, that 3rd pilot is pretty much exposed.
  11. Exactly! If this movie ever takes off the ground we'll either see Alphas in place of the VF-1, or bayformers I'm gonna go with bayformers, it goes perfectly with WB's "me too" mindset.
  12. They can't. Battlecry, comics, posters and toys fall under merchandising rights, which Harmony Gold rightfully owns. Harmony Gold also possesses the film rights to SDF Macross, so they can broadcast the film, sub the film, dub the film, or edit the film outside of Japan however they please. If Harmony Gold wishes to reanimate the Macross mecha and/or characters for a movie or TV showing, they need the design rights, which they do not have. As for Mospeada, Harmony Gold owns all the rights to it outside of Japan. I'm not too sure what Harmony Gold's rights are with Southern Cross, but I think it's safe to say that it's the same deal as Mospeada.
  13. Because the Japanese like cute young girls, not tall old men.
  14. Wing Commander came to my mind. Like Robotech 3000, this new Robotech movie is never going to make it past pre-production.
  15. It sounds like Yamato fixed everything, but no one's said if it's easier to "break" the YF-19's neck during transformation.
  16. Sadly, if a Macross Plus movie were ever made, it would be labeled as a Stealth rip-off. Yes, I'm fully aware that Plus predates Stealth by more than a decade, but does Joe six-pack know? The more I think about this alleged Robotech movie, the less chances I think of it actually happening. We all know how slow HG works. By the time they get their act together, sort out the legal mess and figure out which designs to go with, the giant robot craze in Hollywood will be over.
  17. Agreed. There is definitely some animosity between Big West and Harmony Gold. If any of the original Japanese creators are crazy enough to work on this alleged Robotech movie I don't think Big West will ever let them near the Macross franchise again.
  18. You mean "it will be trapped forever in Legal Hell" if Harmony Gold wants to use any of the mecha from the Macross saga. I've always been of the opinion that HG owns the merchandising rights to the mecha (ie: video games, comics, posters, toys) but they don't own the film rights to the mecha, meaning they can't include them in any new tv or movie productions. They get a bye on character rights since they'll be using real people instead of anime characters. If Harmony Gold is serious about this, they'll have to redesign all the mecha designs from Macross so that they're indistinguishable from the line art (hello bayformers!) or they'll just substitute the Macross mecha with Mospeada mecha since their Mospeada rights are irrefutable. Maybe we should merge this thread with the HG legal thread?
  19. You know Toynami's happy that they're #7 with their Voltron toy. At least we can say that their Master Pieces o' Crap Robotech toys didn't even crack the top 100

I'm curious as to how Yamato would respond. It may be a bit more complex than we think since all their Valkyries have to go to Kawamori for approval. I wonder if Nishikawa's contract with Yamato allows Yamato to make significant changes to his sculpts (design flaws aside) without consulting him first. IIRC, Nishikawa is a major designer in Japan and I wouldn't be surprised if he has some say in the way his sculpts are changed. Finally, there's the matter of royalties...
  21. The tiff is much larger, I had to scale it down due to the boards restrictions. And thanks for the well wishes.
  22. Sorry about not getting back to you sooner MM, but there was a family emergency this weekend. Anyways here's a jpg of what I scanned. As usual, all the good images are somewhat close to the spine. If you can somehow work out the distortions in Photoshop I'll gladly send you the uncompressed tiffs (unless yellowlightman has already done so). Or if you just want them anyways as is, that's cool.
  23. According to Animeigo's website they released MADOX-01 in 1989, just a year before Gunbuster. http://www.animeigo.com/ABOUT/HISTORY.t Close, but no cigar. But I never knew that Gunbuster was USR's first release. A series definitely worth that honor.
  24. I think my Saturn DYRL guide has this image. If it does, I can scan it at a higher res, just as long as the image itself isn't placed too close to the books spine. It seems so much good Macross art is placed in the most frustrating places
  25. Just to clarify, when Graham says "designs" I believe he's referring to new paint schemes on existing toys.
