That sounds fair to me, thanks takatoys.

Robotech Shadow Chronicles gets a Blu-Ray release WTF!
TheLoneWolf replied to Tobi54's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
I'm pretty certain it was you, I don't think it was skullone since he didn't join until 2002 IIRC. But we won't know for sure until Shawn unlocks the pre-2001 boards. What is MacrossWorld's old board? A miserable little pile of secrets! -
I think you mean the Saturn. Both of those cels are from the Saturn and PS1 DYRL games. Macross M3 came out on the Dreamcast though, and it did have a very nice opening animation piece.
-
Maybe he's talking about the 1/60 Destroid or GN-U line. Of course they're going to be solid, they don't transform!
-
takatoys, when Yamato releases their new 1/60 VF-1 do you plan on making stickers to go with them?
-
Yup, supposedly Bandai's Macross 7 toys received Kawamori's approval. I guess back then Kawamori knew that Bandai was sculpting the M7 toys by hand, so he was willing to give them a pass. But now he must know they're working with CAD and rapid prototyping, so there's no excuse why they shouldn't be able to produce stellar toy. Plus, he's probably been spoiled rotten after seeing Yamato's work.

Gubaba, you and cool8or rock! Please post the translation when you guys are done. -
Come forth, Hory Froating Head!
TheLoneWolf replied to Duke Togo's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
My favorite was the Hory Froating Head taking bong hits. -
Definitely check out takatoys' stickers, they're the closest you'll come to decals. I got a set of Anasazi's stickers and it seems the ink chips off them pretty easily. I don't know if I got a bum set or if this is how they're supposed to be. But they still look fantastic!
-
Nothing two stickers can't fix. The two biggest discrepancies are going to be the TV style arm armor and TV 1A heads. Does anyone else find it ironic that everything on this toy is tampo printed, except for the shoulders? C'mon Bandai! But I'm still getting the DYRL Max, it's so awesome that were finally getting a new 1/55, I feel like a kid all over again.

On the opposite page of that scan I posted are scenes from episode 27 (Love Goes Away) that Kawamori directed. I believe someone posted that Kawamori also wrote the script for episode 36 (Fly High). From everything I've read, Macross was essentially created on the fly, with episodes being completed mere hours before broadcast. Being so low on man-power and given the chaotic schedule that they had to work under, it wouldn't surprise me if Kawamori did a little bit of everything in the series. But how much exactly he did, I don't know. I have an issue of Animerica that says Kawamori used the pseudonym "Masanori Kawamori." I may have the spelling wrong, I don't have access to my stuff since I'm hundreds of miles away in Kansas City on a business trip.

R.I.P. Anime Friend. I was referring to Max & Milia's mecha battle from episode 18, not their knife fight from Virgin Road. If Anno animated Virgin Road, Macross would've been the last series he ever would have worked on.

Robotech Shadow Chronicles gets a Blu-Ray release WTF!
TheLoneWolf replied to Tobi54's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
I believe it was Steve Yun, not Tommy Yune, that used to post here around 2001. He was always very polite with us and, like Tommy, it was clear he had a true love for Macross and Robotech. IIRC, he left after Keith began flaming him after every post he made. -
Agreed, most of Private Time looks horrible. Even as a kid, I noticed the stark contrast between the closing sequence with Hikaru & Misa and the rest of the episode. I'll take a look at that when I get back home, thanks for providing the Yoshida's name. Could you provide Anime Friend's name in Japanese text so that I can know what to look for? Also, I was watching some Japanese clips of Macross on YouTube and I found one of Max's first battle with Milia from episode 18. What caught my eye was that the title for this clip listed Hideaki Anno; was he one of the animators for this battle? I had heard that he worked on SDF, but I never knew which parts he specifically worked on.

Here it is. Parts of the page near the spine are unfortunately missing, PM is a pretty large book and my scanner's bed is relatively small. If you need a higher quality scan to read the smaller kanji shoot me a PM with your email address and I'll send the uncompressed tif.

From what I've seen, single player mode doesn't excite me. I've already played five GTA's where I've had to work as a criminal, commit crimes for $, carjack cars, kill pedestrians and avoid police all in a days work. Regardless of whether pedestrians can report crimes on their cell phones or that Rockstar has revamped the firing system, at its core GTAIV seems to be like all the rest. However, what I am looking forward to is the online mode. If this mode is balanced, glitch free and fun then I'm sold.

Completists? Probably. Since this line is called Origin of Valkyrie it would be awesome if they included vintage style Takatoku boxes, complete with Takani's lavish artwork. I'd even settle for modern boxes if they included Tenjin artwork. Alas, we'll probably get something unremarkable.

1/60 perfect transforming vf-1 from yamato?
TheLoneWolf replied to Shaggydog's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
If you do go through Toy-Wave be prepared to pay a little bit extra for an actual box. Otherwise it gets shipped in bubblewrap and shell paper only. http://macrossworld.com/mwf/index.php?show...=172&st=600 -
Renato, you're my new hero. Please do find out the full name of this Park guy, the creator of the "YF-1R" must be named! I know what VF-X image you're talking about, I'm pretty sure it's in PM and will scan it when I get back home tonight. IIRC, Kawamori drew the original lineart and it appears the animators simply traced over it, colored it and added in some animation.

The 02' and 03' reissues are still cheaper than what Bandai's currently offering. A 2002 Hikaru VF-1J reissue just sold for $64.99 (before shipping) on ebay. Bandai's Origin of Valkyrie VF-1J reissue is going to cost 8190円, roughly $79.22 before shipping. However much I love the 1/55 design, I can't see any reason why anyone would pay more for the newer reissue when the old one is exactly the same and can be found for a much lower cost. Maybe the new VF-1J one will finally come with a heatshield, but this isn't going to help out the rest of the line.

Page numbers would be glorious! Please consider putting whatever information you have in the Compendium's wiki. It would be fantastic for us Westerners to be able to read about Macross' production in one concise location. As it is, snippets of this information is scattered about in numerous BBS' and usenet groups. I have an article in Animerica where Ishiguro states that Anime Friend farmed out their work to another company, but he never specified which company it was. Now I know it was Star Pro. Thanks!
-
Thanks for clearing that up. And the 1/60 loses a bit of its shine.
-
Exactly. But don't the 1/48 shoulders have to be unlocked to achieve that sort of pose? If so, then the 1/60 can do the same pose with the shoulders intact.
-
So these aren't going to be updated at all? Bummer.
