Robotech and HG license debates
TheLoneWolf replied to Roy Focker's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
Since Toynami and Bandai/Tamashi worked out an agreement earlier this year to release 1/55's in the US, I'm pretty sure Bandai is ok. Unlike in 2002, Toynami is now large enough (their portfolio now extends far beyond Macross/Robotech) to throw some weight around. Back then, they were still a small company and could only pressure other small companies. -
I don't think that's possible. All the artwork featured on the Compendium has been officially licensed by Big West, Mr. March's isn't. Offering all that lineart for free on a licensed site would be a conflict of interest with books and magazines, such as Macross Chronicles, who are looking to sell as many publications as possible.

Ahh, gotcha. If you're looking for increased exposure, might a name change be out of the question? If I'm an average Macross fan and I see the name "Macross Mecha Manual," I'm probably going to scratch my head and think "huh?" What is a "manual?" A booklet, an instruction book, an RPG, or some Geocities page? My suggestion would be to change the name to something explicit or enticing, so that the mere mention of its name would encourage the average user to click on it. Your site would be well worth that click. Those digital photos come from a VF-4 resin kit. They're definitely not in the Flashback 2012 Graffiti book.

Robotech and HG license debates

promethuem5, thanks for the heads up. It's like 2002 all over again, except this time Toynami is contacting large e-tailers instead of just small independent stores. -
Actually, I was referring to Wikipedia's Macross articles, not the Compendium wiki. I haven't looked too closely at the new Compendium yet.
-
Just curious, but how are you gauging those numbers? You're right, I've seen very little vandalism on the Macross Wikipedia pages. Most of the edits I've seen on those articles are well-meant, unfortunately most of them are also written in very poor English. Either all the editors are dyslexic, or English is not their first language.

Do you have a dual-layer DVD burner? Just make a copy of your R2 DVD minus the region coding.
-
I just received a message from Sony, did you receive the same one? It says: "Thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you!"

Ok, the 1999 Perfect Edition video isn't that bad. First off, the FX DVD is not a perfect copy of the official Perfect Edition, the FX's video is noticeably inferior. I know, I have both versions. Second, here's a comparison of the official Perfect Edition DVD vs the "HD" Remaster (I wrapped the HD in quotes because it's not true HD). At first glance, the HD video looks richer than the PE video. Look at the shadow behind the VF-1J head in the PE release, you'll notice the GBP's panel lines. But in the HD version you can barely see them. I'm no videophile, but I think Bandai just bumped up the contrast for the HD release and called it a day. If you want to see a real treat, watch the official PE release upscaled on the PS3. The PS3 eliminates most of the interlacing issues while bringing the video to near HD quality. UPDATE: I screwed up! I accidentally switched the two images in my comparison picture. The HD Remaster is, in fact, superior compared to the Perfect Edition release. I've deleted the old attachment and replaced it with the correct one. And yes, the PE still looks fantastic upscaled on the PS3.

The Xbox 360 Thread Pro Edition

Interesting, that's never happened to me before. If I can ever bring myself to play MGS2 again, I'll keep an eye out for the framerates. -
Does anyone have these Orguss books
TheLoneWolf replied to rdenham's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Since they're published by Super Quest Bunko, I'm going to say novels. SQB has published novelizations for several anime series and their books are about 5 inches tall. -
I meant complaining in the sense of complaining about Yamato's prices, not their products flaws.
-
So who would like to justify this one? Non-transformable and approximately 12 inches tall. Price: 28,000円 or $330.00. I agree that a lot of Yamato's products are overpriced, which is why I stopped buying them years ago. Price is ultimately determined by the buyer, not the seller. The toy community has collectively brought these prices upon themselves, not Yamato. If you want Yamato to lower their prices, you know what to do. (Hint: complaining on MW isn't it)

Those TF guys didn't discover anything. They just republished another groups' work without giving any credit. I also agree that plastics subjected to this process will, most likely, recover their yellowing in a year or two.

Now that's what I call weathering. Great work, Kurt!

The Xbox 360 Thread Pro Edition
TheLoneWolf replied to Apollo Leader's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Like mikeszekely said, the xbox port didn't have any glitches. Unless you're willing to count a different button layout as a "glitch," and by that standard every port can be considered "glitchy." -

So there's finally a decent Saturn emulator? Whoever coded it must've been a truly dedicated individual with a whole lot of time on their hands. -

Nice! You're probably right about the adapter brands, the PS3 is fortunate to have brand name adapters. -

Just curious, but have you tried to play SFII HD in an online match with that combination? If so, was there any lag? I only ask because whenever I used any sort of controller adapter to play games online on the Xbox1, there was always a 1/4 second lag between inputting commands and actual execution. On single player matches, there was no lag, but as soon as I went online I hit that lag. If I swapped out the adapter and put a regular Xbox1 controller in, the lag vanished. I thought it might have been the adapter I got, but other people online had the similiar results with different adapters. I'm not sure if online matches just don't work well with adapters, or if the problem was because of the Xbox1's architecture. I would test it out myself, since I have a USB PS2-PS3 adapter and a PS2 Saturn pad, but I bought SFII HD for the 360. -
You know, I bookmarked that article ages ago and never bothered to read the newer comments. Good looking out, Kyp! So David, do you feel like giving your SNES a bath?

About the Macross Chronicles
TheLoneWolf replied to Isamu test pilot's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
It's the box art from the old model kit. -
Good article on SNES yellowing. It might even explain why the v1 Hikaru 1/60 also yellows.
-
You're welcome! But I also have to thank you for agreeing to translate the book, or else this thread would have been dead long ago. Thanks again!

Gubaba, you have e-mail.
