LOL! I'm just surprised more Macross pages aren't up for deletion. Most of them are ungodly verbose, full of misinformation, and have piss poor grammar. We have the Compendium and that's enough. The few Wiki pages that do list actual citations use the Compendium as their cited source, so it's not like they're contributing anything new to the table.

I've got one that's 4 pages long that features Kawamori and the Macross cast. If you're interested, I can scan it in. Though I won't be able to scan it until the end of the week since I have a huge test to study for on Wednesday. I'm not sure if it's a funny or stupid comic, but at least I can handle the Photoshop work for you.

You're absolutely right, the elbows and and heatshield are not lineart accurate. What my original post was about was lineart proportions.

I'm no fan of Yamato's GN-U line, but here they are indeed offering something that no one has done before: lineart accurate battroid proportions It's amazing that within the past 27 years we've never seen a VF-1 toy with lineart accurate battroid proportions. As magnificent as the engineering is behind the v2 1/60 VF-1, it's battroid mode still suffers from anorexic legs and the unsightly priest-collar. Even the non-transformable battroid toys of the past have managed to somehow get the proportions wrong. It's refreshing to finally see a VF-1 battroid toy with accurate proportions, even if it's not transformable.

After seeing PetarB's VF-2SS Max Special, my wishlist would be: 1/72 VF-2SS 1/72 Metal Siren 1/72 VF-2JA With the exception of the VF-2SS (fighter mode), none of these have been made in 1/72 scale. I'd love to see the Captain's take on these mecha, fighter or battroid mode.

No one knows the exact details of the 1984 contract between Harmony Gold and Tatsunoko because this contract has not been made public. However, we can infer what the contract entails from Harmony Gold's actions and inactions SDF Macross On October 1st, 1982, Tatsunoko Productions acquired the worldwide (excluding Japan) film distribution and merchandising rights from Big West as compensation for their animation assistance with SDF Macross. On January 15th, 1984, Harmony Gold acquired these same film distribution and merchandising rights from Tatsunoko. However, the intellectual property rights for SDF Macross still resides with Big West. What that means is that Harmony Gold can legally distribute the SDF Macross footage outside of Japan (ie: the AnimEigo and ADV's Macross DVD's) and edit the footage at their discretion (ie: Robotech). However, they cannot create any new animation or movies using the SDF Macross characters and mecha because they do not have the intellectual property rights. Comic books and videogames are excluded as these fall under the category of merchandising rights. Macross: Do You Remember Love Harmony Gold also has the worldwide (excluding Japan) merchandising rights to Macross: Do You Remember Love. However, they do not have the film distribution rights nor the intellectual property rights to this movie. On a related note, in 1988, Celebrity's Just For Kids released DYRL (as 'Macross in Clash of the Bionoids') in the US under a license from Toho International Co. Ltd. In 1995, Best Film & Video Corp. released DYRL (as 'Superdimensional Fortress Macross') in the US under a license from Big West. At Anime Central 2001, Robert Woodhead (of AnimEigo) was asked about DYRL and he said that nobody knows who owns the overseas license anymore. You sure about that? The anime VF-1D is a darker shade than Yamato's toy. See the picture for a comparison. While neither Yamato's nor Kurt's color scheme is 100% anime accurate, I feel that Kurt's color scheme better captures the spirit of the anime. To each his or her own. From the pictures that I've seen, I agree that the colors look oversatured. It definitely makes the 1/60 VF-1D look cartoony. I can't tell if it's just the lighting or if the colors really are that bright. IMO, Kurt nailed the VF-1D's colors with his custom below.

Thirded. The End of the Circle was a great finale for Robotech, I recommend it to anyone who likes the tv series and has a basic understanding of what The Sentinels was about.

I completely agree about L's and R's being interchangeable in Japanese. But for the longest time the community pretty much agreed that, reasonably, his name should begin with an R. Then "Ley" comes out of left field with no explanation at all, so I'm left scratching my head about that one.

Quick Japanese lesson: ク = ku グ= gu In Japanese, Stick's name is written as スティック. Note that the last character is 'ku.' If Aramaki wanted his name to be Romanized as "Stig," then he would've written it as スティッグ with the last character as 'gu.' It's possible that Aramaki knew that Stig is a Finnish name and intentionally misspelled it as Stick. Macross is filled with intentional misspellings, so this is nothing new to anime. Or, it's just a coincidence that his name also happens to sound like a genuine Finnish name. Either way, ADV misspelled his name, it's supposed to be Stick. They probably thought they were "fixing it." And this wouldn't be the first time that ADV has misspelled a name for the sake of "fixing it." The Zor home planet in Southern Cross is 'Glorie,' but ADV attempted to fix it and changed the name to 'Gloire' (which is the French word for glory). However, Egan Loo pointed out that the katakana spelling of 'Glorie' is correct because Hasegawa wanted to name the planet after the Old French word for glory: 'glorie.' Bottom line, ADV tried to "fix" the name and screwed up. "Ray" is an appropriate homonym for "Rei," so I don't really have a problem with it. But where did "Ley" come from? The first character is his name ( レイ ) is clearly an "R."

I might have to reconsider buying the Mospeada box set, just for that booklet. In the past I've refused to buy it because of ADV's horrible mistranslations. I mean, c'mon, Stick and Rei aren't that difficult to screw up.

Bravo, Gubaba. Bravo. I'm glad you guys are mature enough to realize that there's no prize for being the first ones to release a scanlation. While it may not seem readily apparent to some, but by waiting you guys are doing the Macross scene a favor. And since you guys are in no rush, I know your translations will be the best ones out there.

Gubaba, thanks for posting that scanlation. I understand your frustration with this dilemma, but once you post something to the Internet it becomes “public” information and will spread as much as people are interested in it. You can ask everyone in this thread to solemnly swear that they will not distribute your scanlations, but all an outsider needs to do is create a throw-away MW account, download your scanlation, and post it on RapidShare et al. Even if you privately e-mailed it to a few individuals, all it takes is just one person to forward it to a buddy and it’s out there. The only way to keep your scanlations off the Internet is to not upload it to the Internet. Period. The arcade ROM scene set forth a couple of guidelines that may be applicable here. When it comes to new arcade games, they would only release public dumps 2-3 years after its release date. That way the games had time to sell through the primary and secondary markets. Their guidelines may seem restrictive, but if you’re worried about reducing Macross Ace sales with your scanlations, then those guidelines make sense (at least to me). You’re just going to have to ignore the cries of fanboy entitlement and be content with the knowledge that you know what’s being said in Macross Ace and that a full scanlation will become public in the future.

PS2 Backups Running on PS3 via USB HDD I just tried it out myself on my and it works, all without voiding the PS3 warranty. Import games and backups alike booted up fine. Although the load times seemed to be a bit longer and there's some skipping on FMV's, but the hard drive I used to test it out on is old with several bad sectors, so that might have something to do with it. And before anyone asks, the PS2 Macross game played like a champ on my US PS3.

I have an interview with Ishiguro where he says that Vanity City was suppposed to inherit to takes Mospeada's timeslot after Mospeada had ended. Both series had the same production studio, transforming motorcycles, and the same toy sponsor (Gakken). People have probably misread that as a Mospeada sequel. But Vanity City is to Mospeada what Orguss was to Macross.

The VF-11B looks fantastic, small tailfins and all! It's going to be hard waiting for the 2nd or 3rd release with all the QC fixes.
