Ghost in the Shell, Batou or the Major?
yellowlightman replied to Effect's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
As endearing as Togusa is, just about ever episode in which he gets into trouble, it's his own damn fault. The episode where he goes on trial in 2nd Gig is a really good example, hard to feel for a guy when he just makes stupid decisions. -
The original XBox was hideous, but at least it had some character. This design is just bland as hell, but then again Microsoft couldn't design it's way out of a paper bag, so beauty isn't to be expected. Yet, it'll still be better looking than the PS3.

xeno- or xen- pref. 1. Stranger; foreigner: xenophobia. 2. Strange; foreign; different: xenolith. morph Pronunciation Key (môrf) n. One of various distinct forms of an organism or species. It doesn't specifically relate to the aliens from the Alien series, just means aliens in general. Pretty sure the Marines in ALIENS used the word before even encountering the bugs.

I always wanted to see that film. Even though Robby Gordon is a total jackass in NASCAR, I've been told that he's actually a great off-road racer. Got embaressed by his teammate in this year's Paris-Dakar, he didn't seem too happy about being out-driven by a French woman. Go fig. EDIT: They don't even focus that much on Gordon. Much more time was spent on people like Mike McCoy who drove the entire 1000 on motorcycle, deservedly so I'd say.

Older cars equal more unreliability, more maitenance costs, etc. For a daily driver economy ad reliability are really key. Anyone seen Dust to Glory yet? Just got back from seeing it, and I'd really really recommend it. Beuatifully shot and really well produced, probably one of my favorite movies of the year. Reaffirmed my belief that rally drivers are the best race car drivers in the world.

Hope you're planning on fine-tuning the design, the GBP on the back is going to be hard to see and just look muddy and it could use a more interesting font.

Pepsi Can (and possibly a Heineken can)
yellowlightman replied to Valk009's topic in Movies and TV Series
I agree, beer makes me sick and with the exception of one time I've never been able to get drunk off the stuff. If I'm drinking it'll be vodka (straight or mixed, depending on what kind) or tequila is I'm feeling saucy. -
Not to mention finding an unmolsted Integra is a pain, and then you have to worry about it getting stolen...

Might also want to consider the Celica's from the same era, better looking, better resale value, more reliable a generally solid car. Ain't the best looking car, but better than the over-styled Tiburon of that generation, IMHO.

When were the Turbo T-Birds made? I wouldn't trust an older forced induction car for relaibility or fuel injection. If BSU wants to stick with Ford, the original Taurus SHO is probably a better choice. The engine is awesome (Yamaha-built V6) and the 4-door sedan offers some practicality. My friend just got one for free from his girlfriend's parents and it's not a bad car. Only problem is it likes to have startup issues when I'm in the car, which we attribute to it sensing how much I hate Fords and reacting accordingly. Really, for a daily beater you can't beat a Japanese sedan. The cost, reliability and fuel efficiency of a Camry, Accord, Civic or Corolla are going to be far superior to any other type of car you're looking at. Just gotta deal with the fact they're boring. I'm about to get a hand-me-down 92 Civic 4door which I'll put into daily driver status this summer, since it has nice things like air conditioning and decent gas mileage (30+ MPG opposed to my RX7 which gets around 20MPG). Just crossed over onto 200,000miles on the original engine, clutch and transmission.

You really think so? I think there's too many 4-door cars calling them sports cars. The WRX STi, Lancer Evolution, Dodge SRT4, the new Dodge Charger. It's taken a while to get some decent 2dr coupes back into the market after the segment all but disapeared in the late 90's, so I say teh more 2dr coupes the better. Bigger issue for me are all the FWD cars claiming to be performance cars, but whatever.

I quite like Asahi Dry. Can't stand Budweiser though. Yeah, truth be told Asahi is quite a bit better than Bud or the other big American beers. You can buy 3-liter CANS of the stuff in Japan, so that really counts for a lot in my opinion. -

Japan drinks a lot of beer, hell, you can buy it from vending machines over there. I don't remember having Bud, but they have plenty of Japanese domestic beer (Asahi, Kirin, etc) that's just as bad as Budweiser. -
That's my big beef with a lot of videogame shop employees, they're more than willing to dish out unwanted advice but when it comes to needing actual information about semi-obscure games it's hard to get anything our of them. Recently went into my local EB a couple times looking for Daisenryaku and Phantom Dust, but new Xbox releases and the employees hadn't heard about either of them. Is it so hard to look at release dates to keep up to date on upcoming games? When I worked at a car dealership I had to do a lot fo reading about the cars I was selling; is it so hard to expect an individual in a service job to be informed about the product they're selling?
-
Just heard about this on the news, although I honestly it doesnt seem like it's gonna be that big of a deal. The stores are so smiliar in very way I couldn't really care which one I'm shopping at, but it sucks for EB employees who might lose thier jobs. Although my local Electronics Boutique employs nothing but idiots who know nothing about video games save for the top PS2 games, so good riddance in that case. I know there's employees of both companies on this forum, it'll be interesting to hear what they have to say about it.

Volkswagen's are overpriced junk, just buy a cheap Camry or Accord for a nice daily. Cheaper all around, more reliable, etc. Not to be an a-hole, but a first-gen MR2 is probably a bad idea given your history and your desire to take it 'canyon driving.' A light-weight, mid-engined car is just asking for you to crash it if you make a small mistake and if you crash that car you're toast. The original definition of sports car was something along the lines of a two-seater drop-top, but we've since bastardized the definition. But I don't get what you're saying, the 350Z and S2000 both have two seats.

Holy crap, you're right! THEY'RE BOTH ANIME CHARACTERS. -
Hah, guessing that's a joke. Right?

Guessing you don't live on the fine pacific coast where we can drive our cars all year round. But my car's been out of commision for the past week and a half, so I uncerstand (a little) of how you feel. Finally got my alternator replaced and hopefully it'll last longer than the last one I installed two years ago...

PSP Official Discussion thread.

Not gonna happen. Lots of reasons why not, namely using the existing Gamecube discs in a portable would be difficult because you'd have to spin them and not scratch them when moving, it's just asking for trouble. I wouldn't be surprised if Nintendo kept the cartridge format. I think you're still being premature about "rivaling" the PSP. The GBA has one of the best game libraries currently avaiilable, it'll take years to see the PSP to even get close to that thanks to the typical 'early Playstation games' syndrome it's suffering from. I mean, how long did it take the PS2 to get some decent games...? -

Why would they replace the DS? They just released it. Do you mean their GBA SP replacement? -
Now this is what I call a collection

I need some shelves for my TV. As it is I have an Xbox, a gold PS2, two Dreamcasts, a Jp Saturn, an N64 and a PS1 sitting in a tangled wire mess around my TV. -
I still need to grab the PS2 version, I've only got the Saturn and PS1 versions.

Spawn the Animation is back!

Come on now....look how long it took readers to realize how talentless Rob Liefeld was. Yeah, but you don't see an animated Youngbloods series, do you? -
If you have any sort of appreciation for strategy games and you're a Gundam fan, definately pick up Giren'd Greed; whether it be on the Saturn, PS1, Dreamcast or PS2. It's a great game, a bit hard to get into at first but there's enough info on the net to get you started. Great game.
