  1. Got a link to the site where this was originally posted?
  2. Uh, criticizing someone for having bottleg product on Macross World? That's the pot calling the kettle black...
  3. Japanese DVD prices are generally pretty ridiculous, so it might be difficult to find "decent" prices short of going to Japan and trying to find them used.
  4. A7, why do you put the names of the titles you review in katakana even if they aren't Japanese?
  5. New 2006 Mitsubishi Eclipse review: http://www.autoweek.com/article.cms?articleId=102412 Ugly, overweight (3472lbs!!), overpriced (pay a bit more and get an Evo RS), FWD and Mitsubishi... but gets pretty positive remarks from the drive test, especially compared to the previous model. Best part of the article is where Mitsubishi's GM of design calls it a "sports car." Still not sure why the car exists given Mitsubishi's financial problems and the low-cost performance car they offer for just a little bit more (Lan Evo).
  6. Yeah, those were oddly ahead of their time. Took about 10 years for Subaru's to become popular and the rest of the industry to catch one. They're really not bad looking cars in a rugged kind of way, which is a respectable accomplishment for American cars in the 80's.
  7. As long as theyre being used only on tracks, importing them shouldn't be much of an issue. Worth the cash to import them? No, but hey, look at all the idiots who buy Skylines.
  8. I kind of figured he brought balance to the force by killing all those Jedi, leaving two Sith and two Jedi remaining.
  9. Yeah, we're glad you're horny for video of Sony's next exclusive FPS... but this thread is about Hellgate: London. Not to mention, the screen shoots of Hellsgate are actual ingame graphics opposed to pre-rendered movies. THis Hellsgate game looks alright I guess, but really FPS' just kinda blur together for me now. Gonna have to do something unique to grab my attention.
  10. I had the original Heroquest boxed set back in the day, although I don't think my friends and I ever played the game according to the rules. Usually we'd make up our own or just use the miniatures and stuff for use in other RPG games. Still a cool game, a good introduction to role playing games (er, even if it does kinda lack the role playing part) and more interesting than your usual board game.
  11. I felt the same way. The droids were particularly poorly done I thought, especially what smart asses some of them were. Palpatine also made a number of weird noises and quips that could have been left out; like the sound he makes during the Anakin/Dooku battle and just random grunts and groans throughout the movie. Don't understand why a lot of that was left in, most of it wasn't funny and ended up being awkward.
  12. Yeah, Ben-Man and DestroidsRage were one in the same. That guy was all sorts of weird.
  13. Looked utterly unappealing, there was really nothing in the preview I found interesting. Hollywood needs to give the superhero movies a rest, it's just getting ridiculous and pointless. For every decent one (like Spiderman and um... yeah), there's a whole bunch that just flat out suck (The Hulk, The X-Men movies, all the recent Batman movies, etc).
  14. Kind of a disapointment that so little work is put into the light saber battles. Especially in ROTS, they were so poorly shot and boring I just kinda sat waiting for them to be over. Also noticeable was the common movie problem where rather than trying to hit the person, they try to hit the sword. In high school I used to do kendo, and it's kind of obvious to notice the problems with the character's stances and their attacks. One of the more noticeable times was after Yoda got knocked down, he lunged for Sidious' upper torso/sword, he really should have gone for the legs. Not to mention Windu holding his sword too low, Obi Wan holding his left arm out instead of his sword ( ) and so forth.
  15. That could be said for pretty much every actor in the movie. Ultimately, I think it was a decent movie that was held back by a lackluster script and just general poor directing. The action scenes were relatively uninteresting, too much was rushed and in general would have benefitted from a more polished and better paced script.
  16. I liked the 3D animation well enough, but the story utterly killed it for me. Painfully contrived, unecessarily removed lots of the good bits from the original manga and changed around Deunan and Briaeos' relationship, which seems to me like shooting yourself in the foot in terms of sequels.
  17. Isn't that in kph? 110 kph is like 60 mph. Says MPH at the bottom of the guage. Either way, it looks like it's just a generic guage...
  18. 90% of people who own trucks ANYWHERE don't need them. Not towing? Not throwing poo in the back? Sell it and buy a Civic.
  19. Shouldn't this be in the general automotive thread? Either way, owning a Hummer has nothing to do with masculinity; if anything, people buy big trucks to make up for their lack of masculinity, and their insecurity. A big truck makes them feel important and in control.
  20. I realize this won't sway a lot of people one way or the other, but for me personally, knowing that a bunch of people from RT.com are going to be there will probably dissuade me from attending. I wouldn't mind people who like RT. . . and are familiar with Macross and MW showing up. . . but I'd probably stay away if this thing were publicized at RT.com and a bunch of those types were going to show up. What do you mean by "those types?" My experience with the Robotech fan community is admittedly pre-Robotech.com, but just about every Robotech fan I met was familiar with Macross and was a fan of both. In the days of the DoZ (largest online Robotech fan club before Robotech.com) we talked extensively about Robotech and in the newsletter Macross news was written about right next to Robotech news. I'm not sure where the idea that Robotech fans know nothing about Macross or are completely ignorant come from, but from my experience it hasn't been the case. If they're being judged on the few bad-apples that come over from Robotech.com then there's really no basis, given that at least one of our well-known members here on MW used to spend a fair amount of his time trolling Robotech message boards. Also, this event isn't online... it's in person. Considering we're a couple of anime forums, no one's really going to have the balls to confront anyone or start any fights in person, and I bet face to face everyone will be quite cordial.
  21. Because in Japanthe user base of all video game consoles or PCs is eclipsed by the huge amount of people who own cell phones. Release a small game for a cheap price, bound to make some money.
  22. Yes. Eventually they'll be back to doing video game versions of Wheel of Fortune and tarot cards. Really depressing, considering what a powerhouse they were in the late 90's. I think Donkey Kong 64 was the last of the line, everything since then has been downhill for them. KInd of funny, everyone criticized Nintendo for selling them, and Rare hasn't produced a decent product since the sale. Maybe Nintendo has some business sense after all. The more I see it, the less the design of the XBox 360 bothers me. Same thing with the lack of backwards compatibility, I have an XBox so it's not a huge issue for me. The big question is where I'm gonna find the room to store all these damn systems.
  23. Yeah, even here in import-heavy California you rarely see anything old like that. Problem is a lot of those older Japanese cars were designed to be pretty disposable and got tossed aside casually once they were done with. I really love the older Japanese coupes, the Mazda RX's and first gen Celica's took a lot of design cues from the older American muscle cars but in a compact size. Throw a nice 4AG or a 13B in and just about any of those cars will scream.
  24. Anyone catch the "uneviling" of the XBox 360 on MTV? Spent way too much time talking to lame celebrities instead of showing the system and games. Perfect Dark looks really... mediocre. Glad to see Rare is continuing it's downward spiral.
  25. Which is why Saturn was #1 with the Saturn and Dreamcast... ... First release does not equal the #1 spot, the PS2 was put into that situation because of the breakthrough of the DVD player and the backwards compatibility.
