There's really no reason to be afraid of Nintendo. Despite seeming small compared to bigboys like Microsoft and Sony, Nintendo is FAR more profitable than either Microsoft or Sony's game divisions.
They have some weird ideas, but have logic and planning behind those ideas and haven't made any disasterous decisions since the N64 was announced to be cartridge based.
There's no reason for the Revolution to have a "regular" game controller, because it's not designed to be a "regular" game system. If you want a system that offers more of the same pick up a 360 or a PS3, the Revolution is intended to be a step in a new direction for gaming playing to the lowest common denominator isn't going to help that.
