1. do I swim around in your koolaid.. no I think not. Im asking a serious question here.. no jokes 337490 A serious question about a kids show with dudes in tights.
2. No way man, Outrun 2 is amazing. Easily the best post-Dreamcast game Sega has released, and probably the most fun "racing" game of the past 5 years.
3. My new dreamcar... The new Alfa Romeo Brera is without a doubt the most beautiful hatchback I've ever seen and just re-affirms my belief that Alfa makes the best-looking non-exotic cars on the market today. New word is that Alfa will be releasing a GTA version of the Brera, which will be powered by a 4.2l Maserati V8 with 440bhp. Price is supposedly around 70,000euro which is a lot, but it's kind of irrelevant because it doesn't look like Alfa will be back in the States anytime soon... For a general idea of what the Brera looks like:
4. I'm with you, it's not a very appealing design. It looks like it's about as much fun to drive as a delivery truck. Ultimately the whole retro thing is a bust, it's impossible to capture the same essence and appeal of the classics (which is largely due to nostalgia) and comes off looking unoriginal. WHy don't car manufacturers try making a car that looks new and appealing? The Pt Cruiser and VW Bug already are starting to look dated and "old," because those retro re-imaginings don't age well. I'd expect a similar fate for the new Mustangs. The SSR was always ugly though. Ugly and incredibly stupid.
5. Added, although before it gets too crowded Exo you might want to look at GuestMap: http://myguestmap.lorca.eti.br/index.jsp Allows for specific locations (you choose exactly where to put your icon) since it uses GoogleMaps, instead of more general area codes...
6. For a second there, I thought you were serious, isamu.
7. Are you sure Oshii was part of Headgear? i was under the impression he didnt have anything to do with the original creation of Patlabor...
8. I always had the feeling that the 19 was just a more balanced plane and more suitable for mass production. But then again, didn't they say how Isamu was the third or fourth test pilot after the previous pilots had some extreme accidents?
9. What, you want a 10-hour long movie with a bunch of talking heads and completely unecessary exposition?
10. Man on Fire was excellent. Aside from Scott's great cinematography and editing, Domino looks completely uninteresting.
11. "Hi, I'd like to order a next-gen game. What? All you can give me is shitty car models and a bunch of jaggy edges? Nevermind then." The backgrounds don't look that bad, but those car models are absolute garbage. Certainly doesn't look like what I'd hope a "next gen" game would look like. Thumbs up for disapointing launch titles.
12. Given MGREXX's attitude towards child rearing, I doubt Exo would give him the pleasure.
13. This paragraph is self-contradicting. 336428 I was gonna say, all I heard him say was "PS2 PS2 PS2." As for the XBox beng a Sega Saturn repeat... I wish. This next generation has left me wanting a new Sega system really bad.
14. Cammy/Kiley Minogue.
15. In the case of this car, yes. But I just love all the idiots around here driving around in their ten year old Hondas with goofy body kits and fake intercoolers showing through the grill. I've seen only one local import with a turbo and true intercooler setup. Even saw an idiot at a car show with some type of speaker mounted on his Civic that made the sound of a blow off valve...what a tool. Another reason the import scene here leaves a bad taste in my mouth. (Not to mention the unpainted body kits, spray painted (badly) interiors, and the coffee can size tailpipe tips shooting flames). For every one nicely done import, I've seen twenty that look like pure ass. 336219 Sounds like the scene just about anywhere. I've stopped associating with non-racing car guys (import or domestic) just because I can't stand the ego and stupidity of 'tarding up your ride (rides like poo, loud as hell, more dangerous, more attention from the cops) and not even making an attempt to race it. There's no reason a strictly street car needs to be slammed, have a gutted interior and a loud exhaust.
16. If you're learning Japanese or wanting to move to Japan just for the anime and toys, you're going to be severely disapointed.
17. The brake cooling thing is ridiculous, about as useful as drilled rotors... I'm pretty sure the Supra came stock with a top-mounted intercooler, so the front-mount is just an aftermarket thing for better cooling/more power.
18. It's a twin turbo Supra with a hideous body kit on it. Amazing car... but the current owner seems to have pretty poor taste.
19. Yeah, too bad we don't. I mean, facism rocks... worked well for Germany.
20. That's what I did. I took the more expensive route and bought the limited edition Z Gundam PS2.
21. Hey, if you like it-- that's great. I find it boring as hell, going fast in a straight line for less than 20 seconds opposed to going fast and TURNING? No comparison. What qualifies exciting racing? Turning. Left AND right. My favorite cars are actually European, but the honest to God truth is that Japanese cars ARE BETTER. With the exception of diesel trucks, American automotive companies don't have any advantages over Japanese car companies.
22. As a GM employee....the financial troubles are tied to pension payments and health insurance costs. GM is waaayy too nice to its employees. And when you call NASCAR a joke, I assume you are not referring to its profitablility? 335592 I actually wasn't aware that GM treated their employees so well, that's pretty cool. As far as I'm concerned, the reason why the American automotive industry is in the shitter is because they make inferior cars. They survive on focused markets and devoted customers, not innovation or superior products. Performance cars like the SRT-4, Z06, and GTO offer something the Japanese don't (anymore) and American is the only way to go for good towing vehicles but that's about it. If you were shopping for a mid-size sedan or economy car there's no reason to choose Ford or Chevy before Honda and Toyota. If American companies attempted to match the quality of import vehicles, they'd sell a lot more and wouldn't be in such financial trouble. There's also the devoted customer aspect. I worked for about 6 months at a Chevy dealership, and the only people who purchased non-truck automobiles were old people who had grown up Chevy drivers their entire lives, because there's no other reason to buy most American vehicles. As for NASCAR being a joke, I'm referring to the fact that it's the short bus equivalent of the racing world. The cars are poorly engineered, the drivers are under-skilled and it's considerably more boring than more legitimate forms of racing like WRC or F1.
23. They also have professional drag race team, which races a Solara-bodied V8. Of course professional (or non-professional, for that matter) drag racing is about as exciting as watching paint dry while getting kicked in the balls. I agree about their new products, they're not inspiring. I might buy a tC if I needed a new car for cheap, and I'd definately pickup a Tacoma before any other mid-size truck but that's about it. I love what they're doing with hybrids but I don't think I'd buy one. Last I heard, every Japanese car company is profitable except for the abortion-in-progress that is Mitsubishi. It's really the American car companies that are having the most trouble.... wonder why?
24. I think the concept is fine in a goofy sort of way, the problem is that Transformers suck. The robot forms of Transformers rarely, if never, look cool and are always about as poseable as a brick. If the idea had been given to some designers with some skills we might have got something interestings, but...
25. Source Source As if NASCAR wasn't a big enough joke already, the good ol' boys are about to get pissed on by Camry's and Accord's. This is too friggin' cool. I LOOOOOOOVE how the Big Three are bitching about Toyota's V8, which was designed and built in under a year because Toyota didn't have any push-rod V8s (you know, modenr cars use OHC motors). How long have those guys in Detroid been sitting on their V8s? This is the same poo as when the Japanese first released cars here in the US, instead of trying to innovate the Big Three whine and complain instead.
