The Chronicles Of Narnia Super Thread
yellowlightman replied to areaseven's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
I was worried they'd make the mistake of trying to portray the Chronicles of Narnia as the "next" Lord of the Rings, because ultimately they're very different stories told in different ways. -
Nah, he should drive a Dodge Viper Competition Coupe. Hubinette whooped Millen's ass this year. 351658 That works too. Shows how up to date I am on my automotive figure skating.

The point is that just about every other Mustang in existence has a Ford V8 in it, and after 30+ years it's not like there's a whole lot of exciting or new approaches to the old Fastbacks. I doubt the car is particularly fun to drive in anything other than a straight line, but it's different and that counts for something. Car communities tend to get stuck into ruts, and keep doing the same thing over and over again and anything different than that method is "wrong" or "bad." Nothing wrong with shaking things up a bit. Since the movie is going to be taking place in Tokyo and featuring drifting, what they SHOULD have done was have the lead drive a new GTO, a la the USA D1 GP.

Less about being a poo disturber, more about being different. I mean how often do you see an old Mustang with something other than a V8 in it? OR for that matter, how often do you see a Skyline motor in anything other than a Japanese car? It might not be practical, but it's soemthing different and it's taking two cool things and putting them together... nothing wrong with that. Personally I hate the mindset that you can only put certain motors in certain cars. Those that think outside that norm in a given car community are harassed (happens all the time on RX7 forums with guys that drop V8's in), and I just don't understand that.

I can honestly say that's the coolest Mustang I've seen in a while. Not only will it piss off Mustang owners it'll piss off the import crowd, so props to that.

How Does Shoji Kawamori Rate As A Mecha Designer?
yellowlightman replied to UN Spacy's topic in Movies and TV Series
What mecha did Anno design? I thought he was just a director/writer... -
Do you mean the prices at dealerships? My advice is to avoid the car salesman altogether and go through a program like CarsDirect, AAA's or Costco's autoprograms. Or maybe just call up and ask to speak to a fleet or internet sales manager. KBB.com and Edmunds.com are also good sites for pricing.

The Official South Park Thread

Is the version of "Come Sail Away" sung by Cartman actually from an episode, or was it just a fan-made song? -
Got my first chance to play a 360 last night, as my buddy that bought one invited me over to check it out. The TV we were using wasnt great, but I could still tell the graphics in games like PGR3 and PD0 were nice. I loved the controller, easily the best controller I've used since the Saturn's. All the little extras were nice too... turning on the system from the controller, XBOX Arcade (which I imagine will be awesome in a few years) and so forth. Now all it needs are some really impressive games to take advantage of it...

I probably won't be making it to the Anime Fair, but if you guys have dinner I might tag along. I'm in San Francisco a lot anyways on the weekends. -
Ridge Racer 6 new scans and info!
yellowlightman replied to isamu's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Thank you for posting all those photo's of the albums you plan on listening to, as simply writing the titles wouldn't be enough. P.S. Perhaps you should start a Ridge Racer blog, as it seems nearly life-consuming for you. -

X-men 3 Pics: Beast And Angel Revealed
yellowlightman replied to bsu legato's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Man, you're cranky. Frankly, the X-Men movies WERE bad. They were little more than vapid plots used to ladle out two hours of fanservice with a big budget. Take away the X-Men name and they wouldn't have made half the money they did make thanks to fans. There's nothing wrong with being a fan, but at least be rational and understand that they could have been a hell of a lot better. And no, "It's Hollywood" isn't an excuse because there's a lot of great movies produced every year. -
Wasn't it already posted in this thread? I could have sworn I've seen it before but I dont feel like sifting through the 100 pages of this thread.

Indeed I did, as I used to talk to Fer a lot back when the DoZ was active.

I have an old VHS copy of a copy of a copy that i got back in the day. Only watched it once, kind of interesting to see it for the novelty but not exactly the kinda movie you want to see more than once. If I remember correctly, on my tape after the movie there's a segment with Carl Macek talking about the origins of the movie and random stuff, been years since I've seen it though. The Seishun Shitemasu fan-dub Robotech parodies are a little more interesting, which I have on tape somewhere as well.

How Does Shoji Kawamori Rate As A Mecha Designer?
yellowlightman replied to UN Spacy's topic in Movies and TV Series
Everything he's done since Macross Plus have been anorexic designs that look too similar to each other. The VF-1 was the best design he's done and I doubt he'll ever come close to that level of awesomeness again. -
Might also want to look at the GTO. They're not too expensive (and are selling poorly enough that people get pretty good deals on them), and a whole lot cooler than the RSX or SRT-4. Boring on the outside (but beats the too-tall bubbly RSX or Neon-looking SRT-4) but the interior is nice, and FWD cars are just boring...

Dude, that shouldn't even be an excuse unless she raced someone hard. Hondas are practically built for "crazy Asian drivers." If it were a Focus or a Neon, that's understandable. But a Honda? She'd have to do something worse than beat the thing up. 348985 Short of totally neglecting it and being unecessarily abusive (N-drops?) there's no way a 5 year old Honda would crap out.
-
No, it was some Southern Cross, and moslty Megazone... 348976 Actually, I believe there was some original animation in the movie. Not very much, though.
-
How is that worthy of news? It's not like he can't buy another one. If it was a MB 300SL Gullwing or Maserati MC12 (something actually... rare) then I might care.

There's also a difference in sizes between men's and women's shoes. A 15 women's is (according to Google) equivalent to a men's 13.5. Still awfully big.
