Msn Movies Rates 10 Best Movie Battles
yellowlightman replied to Noriko Takaya's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
The real question is... what does MSN know about movies and why the hell do we care? I've never understood movie lists like this because it's all so subjective. The inclusion of Princess Mononoke strikes me as very odd, and I wonder how much of it's inclusion is owed to them wanting to include anime. -
Technically, we're all bigger now since the universe is constantly expanding.

Agent One For Co-admin?

I shave it all, its just a blury pic. 352702 Does your girlfriend shave your back? -
Enix hasnt had anything to do with it, the only one at fault is SquareSoft and ther questionable management. The same management that saw fit to make and release the Spirits Within and all the garbage they put out on the PS1.

That could be remedied by having a "no sexual content" rule for avatars. Really, not being allowed to use animated GIFs is silly. We're not allowed to have pictures in our signatures either, but it's not like it had to be taken to the extreme and not be allowed to have signatures at all. So this avatar thing is wonky.

I can't tell if that photo is fuzzy or if A1 is pretty hairy. -
Animated GIFs slowing down the board isn't an excuse, as the file size is limited to 150KB for avatars (and could be made smaller) or people could turn off avatars under "My Controls."

You sure you're not thinking of Dennis Eckersley?

Crocket will be driving an F430, I think. It's in the trailer anyways.

The latest in the "How screwed is Mitsubishi?" saga: http://www.wrc.com/page/BreakingNewsDetail...~755137,00.html Hopefully the Evo won't suffer, as that car is really the one worthwhile part of their lineup.

I'm pretty sure puddknocker is a direct translation from Japanese, so don't worry about that.

There was an interview in Wired a year or two ago where Will Smith talks about how he was offered the role of Neo in The Matrix before Keanu Reeves. He said that looking back he's glad it didn't work out and he didn't get to play Neo because if it had, it would have turned The Matrix into another "Will Smith Movie" which wouldn't have worked.

Uhh, the point would be to make a good movie. This is going to blow. Like Colon Farrell. 352286 Ahh, man. You should have just told me you were psychic. So what are tommorow's winning lottery numbers?

What would be the point of a remake be if it just completely imitated the original? It'd end up like the Psycho remake; totally irrelevant because you might as well go back and watch the original. If you're worried about it being "cookie cutter" I'd suggest you go rewatch HEAT, Collateral, and The Insider. Mann isn't a "cookie cutter" director, so there's no reason to expect this movie will be any different ESPECIALLY since he's writing and directing the thing. A listen to the commentary track on the Heat DVD would be worthwhile as well, just to give you an idea of how much work and effort the guy puts into his movies. He's not doing this to simply turn an easy buck. Again, for the complaint about the bad casting look at Cruise in Collateral or Russell Crowe in The Insider. Mann can do amazing things with actors that people generally hate, so there's no reason he couldn't pull a decent performance out of Farrell.

Was a great system for 2D shooters as well, along with a good variety of unusual and just plain good games. Part of my attraction to the XBox has always been that it's felt like the closest thing to a spiritual successor to the Saturn and Dreamcast. Not necessarily in the same type of games, just that underdog spirit and a number of games which just wouldn't be seen on other systems. Further along in this unrelated tangent, anyone seen the new Dreamcast game Radilgy? It's got an awesome graphical style, visible in the gameplay videos.

I had actually forgotten about the grey Japanese market Saturns, in my mind when I think "Japanese Saturn" I think "white." P.S. Greatest controller ever.

What would you have them do, dress everyone in pastels (hold the socks) and blast Phil Collins (as if he's any better than Jay Z)? Michael Mann looks to be approaching the movie not so much as a remake, but as a new movie with similar situations and characters to the original show. Frankly, any other approach would come off as hokey. The best way to look at it is as a Michael Mann movie, not a literal Miami Vice remake. The upside of this is that given the quality of Mann's work, it'll probably be a great movie that can stand on it's own without having to say "hey, it's a remake." As for Farrell, I'll just point your attention towards Tom Cruise in Collateral...

I'm pretty sure they've gone on record saying they don't intend to fight a battle out with Microsoft and Sony, just as well because ultimately they won't win against that market. Sony and MS can outspend Nintendo many times over. Not to mention, it's pretty clear that the Revolution isn't going after the typical video game market. I would question the existence of a Playstation "fanbase." If there are people that truly believe the PS2 is the superior system, they have been duped into thinking so.. much like millions of people are duped into believing they need a new version of Madden every year. Ultimately, if the 360 can deliver solid games and the media doesn't lick Sony's ass, theres no reason that people wouldn't jump ship. The Playstation brand is kind of like Windows in that people use it because it's the dominant force and has the most software, not because it's the best or inherently likeable. There is a fundamental difference between MS and Sony right now and that is that MS is TRYING to win over gamers and Sony is top dog and doesn't need to try as hard. Eventually that'll catch up to them, much like it caught up with Nintendo.

The Cayman's biggest problem is that it was forced to fit in between the Boxter and the 911, no doubt compromising what the designers could have squeezed out of it. Really, Porsche should just give up on the rear engine layout and switch the 911 over to mid-engine. The 911 is way better looking and it has the heritage of being just about the greatest sports car of all time. Stubburn Germans.

Hrmm... pearl-white, kinda like the Saturn and Dreamcast?

So are we doing dinner on Saturday? Still not sure if I'm gonna got to the JTAF, but I'm down for dinner on Saturday. -
From what I've seen in the magazines, the Neon is getting replaced by a small SUV-ish thing.
