1. Being bought out by FIAT was by far the worst thing that's happened to Alfa. The Milano/75 was the last true Alfa, and despite the fact that the new Alfas are gorgeous the FWD platform really turns me off. That said, new parts/platform sharing between them and Maserati and the upcoming Brera AWD give me hope.
2. So in that way, it'll be similar to the PS2's position in Japan. Except, unlike DVDs, not everyone (or very many people at all, I suspect) will be wanting Blu-Ray players.
3. And ultimately, that won't work. The PS2 was supposed to revolutionize home entertainment, and all we got was a shitty DVD player with an underpowered game system. The PSX was supposed to be the next ultimate home entertainment box and it sold horribly. Video game consoles are like cell phones, you can cram a lot of features into one package but ultimately all those features will be sub-par compared to stand alone units.
4. Alfa produces the best looking mainstream (non-limited edition, non-supercar, etc) cars in the world, hands down.
5. Ok, "successor," then? 358869 Nope. Even though both cars have the RX in their name (Rotary eXperiment), the RX-8 and the RX-7 were aimed at different markets. The RX-7 was a sports car (arguably the best sports car produced by Japan) whereas the RX-8 is really more of a sports coupe, what with the back seats and lack of racing pedigree.
6. Seriously. I could never understand the idea behind those bulging wheel wells and fenders. The current 'RX is, in my opinion, is a sad replacement for the previous one cosmetically... 358814 It's a good thing it wasn't a replacement then, eh? The RX-8 is not the replacement for the RX-7, just like the RX-7 wasn't the replacement for the RX-5 (or 4, or 3, or 2 or 100). The Kabura is certainly different looking, but not bad. Compared with the G35 coupe (whats that... a BORING looking Nissan? Who'da thunk...), at least it's trying to be different instead of boring or retro.
7. For shitty games made by companies like Square that still requires hours and hours of pre-rendered video.
8. You win, if only because you used a picture of the Walled City.
9. I just watched the original cut of Blade Runner on TV, and man, that narration is garbage. The "happy" ending with The Shining footage is garbage too. Director's Cut is waaaaaay better.
10. Speaking of which, it would be nice if game designers actually worked to REDUCE loading speed with this new generation. Nothing like playing a game designed for the Gamecube with nearly undetectable load times, and then hopping over to a PS2 game and being forced to sit through ridiculous loading.
11. The only thing sophisticated in a Tarantino thread is the editing, really. He doesn't tend to deal with too many complex ideas. Not to mention, anyone who claims to like action movies and dislikes Kill Bill part 1 is certifiably insane.
12. LowViz Lurker, your midterm essay gets an F because it was not properly double spaced or proof read. Please proof read, reformat it and turn it in during my office hours.
13. That new Miura is the best looking Lambo since the original Miura.
14. I bet the chicks are all over that guy once they see his collection.
15. You mean like this?
16. That's exactly what I thought, Fight Night looks properly "next gen." The Xbox360 renders sweaty black men amazingly well.
17. If nothing else, it sure makes it easier to compile a list of the AgentOne Ass-Kissing Squadron.
18. The only thing I can fault Tarantino for is making John Travolta popular again, the guy was decent in Pulp Fiction but everything he's done since then had been garbage. Personally, I consider Pulp Fiction one of the best movie of the decade, tied with HEAT. There's another film version of A Clockwork Orange, but it was unofficial and filmed by Andy Warhol. It actually bares very little resemblance to the book (from what I've heard) and was filmed in some post modern bullshit style, as it's one long 60 minute scene with no cuts.
19. I agree with the hate on Citizen Kane, influential or not it's a painful movie to sit through. Both times I tried to do so I fell asleep, so I just stopped caring. It's not quite a "classic" yet, but I absolutely loathe The Matrix. Partially because it got way more acclaim than it deserved and partially because it's a derivative, boring movie.
20. Kawamori was the mecha designer for the original Armored Core game, not sure if he's done the designs for the sequels as well. The original came out in '97... so it's been a while.
21. How was that a burn? He was just correcting the guy.
22. In their defense, it's not like you'd expect it to rain in San Francisco during the month of December. ...
23. Looks like it was better off I spent most of Saturday sleeping and missed the JTAF, but it was cool seeing all you guys. Just wish you had come up to northern California with better results, oh well.
24. I'm not gonna be attending the con (no money) but I'm shooting to show up in the evening to hang out and get dinner.
25. Yeah, because Macross World is nothing but flowers, stuffed animals and hugs. ESPECIALLY towards Robotech...
