Yeah, you're right, I'm a total hypocrite. I talked to A1 on MSN and he was really angry at me!!! He said we might never speak again. It turns out the internet is serious business afterall. I apologize for agreeing with Exo. In all honesty, the thread didn't strike much inerest in me. I saw Exo's post, felt the same way and after about five shots of Belgium's finest vodka I decided to post. If I have to deal with you everytime I drink, I might have to give up the juice. P.S. I don't think I'm better than everyone, or even A1 (last time we hung out we had a contest to see who could bench the most, he won -- barely). But I know for a fact I'm better than you.

I'm really glad Sherlock Jemstone is on the case because without your sharp perception and unwavering dillegence in the face of getting-a-life, you've managed to keep a close watch on me. Good job! I have no problem with A1, he's one of the few people who can take a joke around here without whining about everything I say and following me around to harass me. I don't think his attitude towards M7 is the best way to encourage discusson about M7, and if people want to dicuss M7 a pinned thread is probably the way to go. That said, I'm pretty indifferent about Macross 7 and don't feel strongly about it one way or the other.

Agreed. Despite Macross Plus being really enjoyable, it was enjoyable more on an individual level opposed to being part of the Macross continuum. It could have easily been made as a stand alone series and still been just as entertaining.

Criticize the series, not the fans. I'm all for a pinned M7 thread, and it's not unfair to the other series because of the rather unique situation surrounding M7 (that is, it's the most volatile series in Macross). As for AgentOne, his Macross 7 commentary doesn't count as "discussion" because he repeats the same thing OVER AND OVER again with no intention of listening to opinions. He doesn't go to Macross 7 threads to discuss or debate M7, he goes to Macross 7 threads to say how much it sucks and how much Macross 7 fans are whatever derogatory comment he feels like throwing out that day. Calling his actions "his opinion" is a nice word for it, but it's a consistently douchebag move on his part and directly contributes to the derailing and eventual closing of threads.

If member titles were added for stupid posts, Macross World would be awash in butt plugs and tards.

Armored Core isn't turned based, it's an action game. You're probably thinking of Front Mission. Is the combat traditional turn based RPG battles (like Final Fantasy) or on a grid/hex map more like a traditional strategy game? SD-ness aside, the game sounds kind of interesting in a silly way. If I didn't have only a JP PS2 I'd probably check it out, but I don't have much interest in playing an RPG where I can barely understand the story.

It'll be better in the long run if you forgive and forget. After all. it's only cartoons...

It wasn't my intention for this thread to turn into a "list" type thread, but I suppose my initial post was a little vague. A better question would probably be, what keeps you coming back to Macross (and Macross World?) Nostalgia over a classic favorite, the ongoing new series or something else, like the toys?

I was kind of wondering about this given that the topic of Macross 7 haters/lovers never dies. That got me thinking that, not a whole lot of people were crazy about Macross Zero either or Macross II. I would wager that a large portion of Macross fandom only really LIKES about hald of the franchise. Furthermore, a lot of people here seem to be primarily interested in the toys and models, with the series itself coming second. Personally, I'm not sure I'm much of a Macross fan. I've never seen the original series, and from what I have seen Macross Plus and DYRL are about the only series I really enjoyed. So... thoughts?

I think you're right, most of the kids who watch Totally Spies don't have any idea what Southern Cross let alone the name Robotech, so I suspect it as something put in by one of the designers who probably grew up watching Robotech.

I always kinda figured Macross retards were people who thought spelling Robotech "Row-boat-tech" or any other "funny" way was amusing and/or clever.

A friend of mine has a great story about how when he was first getting into cars his grandfather told him about a "sports car" he had been saving in a storage unit. To my friends surprise (or disapointment) the car turned out to be a Mustang II Ghia in a lovely shade of brown.
