RoboCop: 20th Anniversary Collector's Edition
yellowlightman replied to areaseven's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
A7, why do you include the katakana names of everything you review, even when they aren't Japanese movies? -
A niche game released on a limited-release system, that graphically could have been done on a PS2. It's also some sort of visual novel, so unless you like reading lots of Japanese text it's probably worth passing up.

I wanted a Corrado for a loooooong time. Probably the best water cooled car Volkswagen has done. The FWD and horrible electrical issues kept me away from it though. If the raising spoiler stops working, whats the point!? -

The same guy who gets a Halo 2 release date tattoo reigns because he doesn't like Microsoft? Right. Anyways, just a little over three weeks until the 25th. Time to start stocking up on Game Fuel.. -
I'm no lawyer, so I couldn't tell you the exact legality of it. But considering AnimEigo no longer has the rights to it, and has no plans to try and rerelease it I'd say you're probably okay? I mean, sites like divx.com have out of print anime like Robot Carnival available for download, so... It's less a racing anime an more an anime about guys using cars to pick up chicks. There is a racing element, but it's not the focus like in Initial D. It's been a few years since I watched it, I originally picked it up in '04 at a used video shop in Tokyo. I think it was about 80yen per tape, which is pretty amusing considering the original cover prices were between 11,000yen and 12,000yen. I'm not sure if I have anything else of interest on VHS, but I'll look through my box of old tapes.

Any chance of doing a feature on the Super Deformed Double Feature? It's not *as* obscure as the other titles on your blog, but it's very out of print and I doubt many people have heard of it. Do you cover non-subtitled stuff? I've got three tapes of an old OAV series called Shakotan Boogie, which was animated by Studio Pierrot back in '91 (okay, so it's not the 80's...).

I totally agree, a really professional-level webzine the likes of which we haven't again. That said, I think nearly everyone on staff worked their way into the industry in some function, and why do for free what someone will pay you for?

There was a guy on alt.fan.bgcrisis back in the day (probably late 90's) who sliced the spine off his Bubblegum Crisis B-Club Special and scanned each page in at high res for distribution on CD. Never under estimate what people will do. Anyways, I'm pretty sure I have that picture in my Saturn DYRL book so let me know if you need it scanned.

It's kind of amusing how WotC seems to be maximizing the profits on D&D, with new editions and extra BS just like Magic. That said, there are much better roleplaying games than D&D out there (in all aspects; setting, rules, price) so whatever.- 76 replies

Yeah, the demo they were showing off in '06 was decent... but very limited. As cool of an idea as it is, I have my doubts on Bandai being able to turn out a high quality game, considering how ambitious it is. -

We've talked about Mobile Ops before, the Battlefield-style Gundam game. There hasn't been much said about it in the past year, but I did come across this bit of information from a few months ago: http://www.siliconera.com/2007/07/16/missi...-and-one-piece/ Not great news, but at least there's still a chance we'll see it some day. -

I really witht he next gen Ghost Recon games had stayed closer to the style of GR2 and GR: Summit Strike. GRAW's awful cover system and retarded drone BS kept me from getting into it. -

Yeah, it originally retailed for $200. Gamestop's current price for it is only $100, so if you manage to find a Gamestop with one it won't be too expensive. Used ones can go for as low as $60. Expensive, but not ridiculous. I'm wondering how many other Gamestops have the big green box in the back store room, because unless you ask for it you'd never know. -

There actually is an adaptor for using original Xbox games on the 360, but it costs about $80 and requires a wired 360 controller to be be plugged into it in order to spoof the encryption. -

Apollo Leader, do you get offended by every mean thing somebody says? Especially when that somebody likes to say things for shock value? I'm sure he loves to pus people's buttons and you played right into his hand. And I'm sorry, but I can see the humor in his Iraq comment. My best friend is currently serving his second tour in Iraq (joined in '03) so enjoy wrapping your head around that. That Creed thing is hilarious though. Maybe someday they'll make a Guitar Hero Christian Rock Edition for all those people jonesing for their Creed fix.
