  1. Too bad it's the only system with games worth owning on it. Otherwise I'd be more upset.
  2. Yawn. Whats the point of this argument except to prove that you're a twit? I'm guessing you haven't even played Halo 3 yet, which makes your battying even more inappropriate for this thread.
  3. I think most people are too busy enjoying the game to be jerks. I'm sure the griefing and obnoxious trashtalk will appear in a little while once people start getting bored with the game.
  4. I really don't understand the poor graphics sentiment among people, it looks great to me. Especially in the larger levels when a ton of stuff is happening. The campaign is awful though. Poor level design, way too much back tracking. The second half of the game just wasn't fun. I was co-op'ing it and what we ended up doing was have one person just run through the level as fast as possible to get it over with, while the other guy worried about killing things.
  5. While I wouldn't be surprised if they delayed the series release to rework things, keep in mind the video shown at the 25th Anv. concert was over two minutes long. If they bothered to put together something that long, it's a pretty safe bet they're ready for production. Furthermore, the discrepancy between the early designs seen in Newtype and the few designs we've seen in screenshots is easily explainable. First of all, the designs in Newtype were VERY rough. Secondly, designs usually see two designers. One who draws up the original design and one who reworks that design for animation.
  6. Should have got Halo 3... And I hope for your sake it's a new system, not a used one.
  7. I actually really hate Gears of War's multiplayer. I find it incredibly frustrating, with some inherent lag that just drives me crazy. I liked the GoW campaign alright, though. That said I bought Halo 3 only for the multiplayer. If you liked the campaigns in Halo or Halo 2 I could see you liking the campaign in Halo 3 as well. A friend of mine who's a HUGE Halo fan and loved the campaigns in the first two games is really enjoying his play through, so your mileage may vary. Xbox Live is utterly wrecked tonigh. I've been having a hard time joining up with friend or even joining games, I'm guessing there's just too many people online. The free three day trial probably isn't helping much either.
  8. Because the multiplayer is awesome. Hands down it is the best online console multiplayer game and will be for the foreseeable future.
  9. http://arena.nikkeibp.co.jp/article/news/20070922/1002961/ Some video from TGS of Operation Troy. Certainly looking more promising than I expected.
  10. Single player isn't that long. My friend and I got through Heroic in about seven hours and we watched all the cutscenes.
  11. Played it for 10 hours this morning, basically right up until my Japanese class at noon. Drank about 7-8 cans of Game Fuel during that time. Given that each can has 73mg of caffeine (2x the amount of a can of coke) it's 2:30pm and I'm still wired. The multiplayer is amazing. Basically improved upon an already near perfect multiplayer game (Halo 2) and with additions like the Forge it'll probably have even more longevity than it's predecessor. The campaign is utter balls, though. The first half is decent, but the second half is boring, frustrating garbage. Lots of annoying parts made to extend the game time. It was a struggle to get through it, even on co-op. Only reason I stuck it out was for the unlockables, otherwise I would have said screw it. The final set piece is pretty cool, but goes on way too long, which kind of ruins it. The ending is confusing and poorly done. Despite the hype it manages to be worse than Halo 2's campaign, as I can't think of any parts of it that were really fun enough to warrant going back and replaying it.
  12. The voice acting and script are awful. The radio chatter is ridiculous, why are fighter pilots listening to FM radio DJ's and video communication from police officers on the ground? Not to mention when you character WHINES about the orders given to retreat at the end of the demo. I worry it'll blemish what could otherwise be an outstanding game.
  13. New video doc up on Live about the video replay and Forge features. Both look awesome, but Forge is going to really increase the longevity of the multiplayer. Four more days! Edit: Talking about Halo 3, obviously.

  15. Palladium will always have trouble turning out a decent product since it's stuck so far up Kevin Siembieda's ass. Rubbish rules that are clunky and hard to figure out, not to mention hampered by awful organization and deserately need to be rewritten and revised since they haven't been touched since the mid 80's. Awful book layouts with pathetic art. Minimal play testing, if any. Also, in the case of Robotech, a severe lack of world information and tons of errors for what little IS there. Palladium certainly is large enough to turn out a decent product, but why bother when the fans keep buying the dredge they turn out?
  16. I'm not a big fan of Raiden, so I never bothered with Raiden III. TATE mode is awesome, though. Way nicer than having black bars on the side of the screen, for vertical shooters.
  17. Microsoft's Pre-TGS announced some awesome stuff tonight. Rez HD and Ikaruga for XBLA. Ninja Gaiden 2 announced as well, and a release date for Gundam Operation Troy (later this year-- at least in Japan). Nothing amazing, but Rez and Ikaruga for XBLA is really awesome. http://kotaku.com/gaming/microsoft-tokyo-p...sser-298901.php
  18. http://www.gamestop.com/product.asp?cookie...ct%5Fid=t000428 Doubt the release date is legit, though.
  19. There's a nice joystick coming out for VF5, which I'd recommend picking up. The DoA sticks command a hefty price nowadays. I'm sitting on the parts to make my own stick (good quality stick, controller circuitboard, everything else) but haven't gotten around to putting it together. Now that the VF5 is on the horizon, I'm not sure if I ever will, either.
  20. I'll believe it when I see production pictures.
  21. Palladium has a podcast? That's awfully forward thinking for a company that's still stuck in the '80's.
  22. This argument is like 15 years old. It is also irrelevant, given that DVD's can now provide both.
  23. The biggest problem with keeping it the 360 vertical was the tendency to f' up DVD's if the system got bumped. If it wasn't for that I'd keep my system vertical all the time...
  24. Lucky Star will rot your brain.
