  1. There's a lot more Blade Runner references than that. Opening tune in the first episode is very similar to the intro of BR, lots of parallels between Genom and Tyrell, the whole backstory of Mason/Largo features four boomers escaping a colony and coming to earth (see the AD Police manga), not to mention a similar story line with the boomers in episode 5 trying to gain their independence. Then there's also the ALIENS and Road Warrior references... The Atelier Sai figures were about $50 when released, making them cheaper than these new Yamato ones.
  2. I'm pretty sure I have some old magazines (like, late 80's stuff) with Megazone 23 coverage. I can probably scan them um, if you'd like.
  3. It doesn't need to rip off other shows because it's too busy ripping off itself.
  4. More likely they would have offered him tea. But more importantly, how the hell can you make that extrapolation from a handful of photos?
  5. Er... what? It's available from a number of online retailers.
  6. Those are some pretty big assumptions. For starters, the attack bits in MacII can probably be traced to the bits/fin funnels in Gundam. Those first appeared in 1979, and I think it's pretty well known that Kawamori was a Gundam fan in his younger years? Not to mention the idea that Mac+'s Ghost Fighter has origins in the attack bits idea is a bit silly, computer controlled planes aren't exactly a new idea in the real world and I'd say it's safe to say Kawamori probably drew more inspiration from real world technology and ideas than from other anime.
  7. I laughed at that for completely different reasons than the other had intended. I'd forgotten about the removal of demons and such from 2nd edition, but the 2nd edition rules were certainly hellish.
  8. And the body odor, no doubt. Japan gets disgusting in the summer.
  9. As excellent as the Invision board software is, I've always found the search function nearly useless. Both when searching MW and other forums.
  10. Luckily "made by Toynami" isn't on that list, although that might disappoint you.
  11. You do realize that plastics are a petroleum by-product, right?
  12. Uh... they've been doing that since they released the PS2.
  13. Wow, looks like somebody played Cave Story and REALLY liked the visual style.
  14. Reminds me a bit of Royal Space Force. Oshii is really hit or miss, but I'm looking forward to seeing how this turns out. If nothing else, it looks gorgeous.
  15. These special bundle PSP's would look a lot better without the dumb decals on them. Also, if you really want the bundle download the game image in March and then buy the bundle in July? No need to buy it twice.
  16. Correct, you get a Hardsuit and Motoslave in each package. The Hardsuit figures are smaller than the Hardsuit figures that came out a few years ago.
  17. It's a modification of a real motorcycle. Check out the link in the first post in the thread.
  18. Can't read the smaller text, but directly above the 1/100 line it says "new action figure series."
  19. Yes. The fancier 2nd gen's had LSD's. Most of them didn't though. Notice how I said MOST.
  20. Almost as awesome as that Citizen Kane prequel I've been hoping for. Edit: And Deckard is a replicant, so their probably aren't any "early days."
  21. Most 240sx's or 2nd gen RX7's dont have LSD's, so they wouldn't be good at drifting either.
  22. Oh come on. There's nothing inherently different about Japanese RWD sports cars that make them better drifters, they're just the popular cars to drift with. Put a limited slip in a Mustang/Camaro/Any RWD with decent power and you'll be able to drift. Drifting is not some magical super technique that only Japanese cars can perform well. Yeesh.
  23. Revoltech is doing IDOLM@STER.
  24. Nene's upper body should be purple, not blue. And I really hope they paint the Motoslaves when they're released.... they look like ass next to the painted Hardsuits.
