  1. This thing sound really disapointing, so even as a huge BGC fan I'll be passing on it. I figure I'll keep my eyes open around Akiba and maybe I can find a used version for a more reasonable price. Also, if the Boomer and AD Police figures are the same ones they showed in an earlier pictorial... it looks like Yamato is offering figures from their unreleased trading box line as a limited edition? That's pretty lame, if so. They really half assed this thing, and I seriously doubt we'll get any more BGC figures after this which really sucks.
  2. No, not really. I picked one of these up a few months ago at a store, never really bothered to look inside until now. It doesn't seem to have a date or issue number, just says "Yamato Magazine." With the exception of the interview with Shoji Kawamori, the entire magazine is just photos of various Yamato toys. A lot of them look like the publicity photos we've all seen before online, so unless you're dying for a hard copy... the whole "magazine" is pretty irrelevant.
  3. That's actually a good point... I don't remember anything about it being mentioned in the extras that I watched. And yet, nearly every 80's science fiction anime had some aspects influenced by it.
  4. The only way to win (that monstrosity of a game) is to not play. Or uh, check out this FAQ: http://www.gamefaqs.com/console/dreamcast/file/430833/10984
  5. Considering how many anime titles have had obvious references or inspiration from ALIENS... Next you're gonna tell me a lot of anime has borrowed from Blade Runner.
  6. Wow. 19 sentences. Very thorough review A+++
  7. Let me know when you're thinking of going, I'll be around.
  8. Well, using the PSP to control anything but 2D games still sucks.
  9. For 2x the price plus shipping I might think about helping hook up people with one of these, depending on the hoops required to get them.
  10. My only hesitation about this game is the PSP platform, as I found the Gundam Battle games to be a pain to play on the PSP. But, it certainly sounds promising and hopefully won't suck as much as most other Macross games. Massive bonus points for being able to play as the Fire Valkyrie. This might be the first PSP game I actually buy!
  11. Dammit! This country sucks for movies. The teaser looks awesome though, really hoping it doesn't disappoint after how amazing Casino Royale was.
  12. That's the most logical conclusion, also see the admittedly low-budget Macross 7 Dynamite using a lot of music from earlier series. Also, it's highly unlikely Kawamori was involved in the day to day production of Macross 7, so the inclusion of the music probably wasn't his idea.
  13. I went to a bunch of stores looking for the first issue today, but I guess it doesn't come out until July? Has a specific release date been announced?
  14. Because about five people care about SNK and about a million people care about Star Wars.
  15. Wasn't Violence Jack already released commercially in the US?
  16. I think you guys are missing the most important parts: Reckless RUN.
  17. Well, it's not as if a shift kit does a lot either. Spend that money on autocross or trackdays... A much more entertaining way to spend money on your car.
  18. Surprised no one's mentioned the big press event MS held the other day. Star Ocean 4 for 360 Tales of Vesperia for 360 getting a bundle Squeenix's Last Remnant hitting 360 before PS3 Trailers for Star Ocean 4 and Last Remnant And the real reason behind the RROD
  19. Uh, might want to get your eyes checked out. I don't see any overt resemblance there aside from the race of all females. The ships look more like the stuff from Mospeada, much as how the Paranoid race heavily resembles the Inbit. Not surprising given that Gall Force was an ARTMIC production. And I'm not sure how lasers bending 90 degrees resembles the Itano Circus but okay...
  20. Having a hard time remembering the Macross elements in it, but the ALIENS stuff was pretty apparent.
  21. Gundam Vs. Gundam is really good, and I still think the Vs. series is superior to the overrated Battle series. Although I might like the Battle series more if it wasn't shoe horned into the PSP's terrible control layout.
  22. Give me a break, dude. Getting worried over a completely random act by an individual acting alone isn't something to get worried about because if something like that is going to end your life... it's going to end your life and there's nothing much you can do about it. It's just as likely to happen in Akihabara as anywhere else in this city. Akihabara isn't getting any more "dangerous" just because of one wacko. But sadly your point of view is the common way things are viewed here. Ironically enough, people here have been complimenting Akihabara's "tightened security" ever since the street performer crackdown a few weeks ago and claiming that increased police presence apparently helped take Captain Stabbin' down quicker. All that increased presence was a cop too stupid to draw his gun until after the guy had finished stabbing people and put the knife down. Japanese police are incompetent. One of my classmates actually aw the guy drive into the crowd, as he and his friend were driving through Akihabara. But they didn't see the aftermath and assumed it was just a car accident until they got home and saw the news. Spooky.
  23. Er, isn't that Kawamori's line art?
  24. I'm not sure how much of an international release it'll be getting, it's only playing in a handful of theaters here in Japan. But between this and Sky Crawlers I guess it's a good summer for people who like Oshii films.
