  1. Well, a lot also depends on who is doing the preview or review. IGN isn't just one person. Some people people are going to know the difference and some won't. Either way, the reason they "hate" it when fanboys inform them of the difference is probably because the fanboys are rude about it, no suprise that they might get annoyed...
  2. 25,000 yen is around $250. Is that a lot for designer sneakers? i dunno, I rarely buy shoes over $40. Thing is they don't look like there's anything Gundam about them, unlike, say... the Gundam motorbike helmet.
  3. The thing is... they are well aware of the difference, they just chose not to acknowledge it. I think you're definately wrong there. Most of those people are casual anime fans who saw Robotech as kids, and simply don't understand the difference... and probably don't care to. To some it may be a big deal, but for most people it doesn't matter if there's a difference.. They just recognize it from their childhood. Sheesh, it's not liek they're TRYING to piss us off. Pissed off consumers means they won't keep buying their magazines, where's the business sense in that?
  4. Which would be more or less useless for those of us not in Japan.
  5. Just saw this thing on the GML, limited edition RX-78-2 Nike Shox. 450 pairs of the shoes will be going on sale at the Bandai Museum starting the 28th of this month, only 25,000 yen! Source
  6. Um... There's three different games for the NEC PC-98, each one uses at least a little strategy-style gameplay. Try checking out Macross World (the actual site) as they have more info and pictures about those games. There was a strategy game called Macross: Eternal Love Song for the PC-Engine (Japanese TG-16). There's been a couple of strategy games for the PC too, check out Macross World for info on those as well. There's also some conversions made by fans, should be more info about those if you poke around on these boards. I think that's about it.
  7. The interesting this about this bootleg is that it's the most "original" I've seen yet. They added lots of weird things (not necessarily for the better...) to the design and appearence. Too bad it's incredibly ugly.
  8. Well, the next Gundam is a sequel to SEED, that's already been confirmed. It's unlike they'd start another new series, but hey... you never know. As for 0083, Kawamori only did design work on that... I got the impression from the original post that Kawamori is involved with this new series at a creative level. But hey, you never know!
  9. Thanks for that awesome site, David. Definately gives me some good ideas for customs.
  10. No matter what era it takes place in (if it's even Macross...), it will no doubt feature brand new mecha. You won't be seeing a VF-4 or whatever else in the main role because new series need new mecha (from a sponsor's standpoint), so expect any familiar mecha to be relegated to "backup" duty.
  11. To take a screenshot on a Mac press Apple+Shift+3 and it'll save a picture to the Hard Drive. The picture will be in pict format, so you'll have to find a converter. But transferring it over on a disc shouldnt be too hard either. Er... I hope this isn't too much trouble, I was just curious about what you'd done. If it's a lot fo work, don't bother with it.
  12. It's not unreasonable for him to be working on two seperate shows anyways. He's only in the "design" stage of the new one and it's not like he's directing Zero, so it's quite plausible for him to do both.
  13. White Drew, did you ever get a chance to send these out? Just curious because I havent received any yet, unless I accidently deleted them. Thanks!
  14. Any chance you have screen captures of that? Even if they look like crap I'd still be interested to see what you did.
  15. Egan Loo mentioned they were wrapping up designs and everything for Macross Zero episode five now, so it makes sense that he'd start working on a new show. Interested to see what it'll be, I'm pretty sure most of MW will dislike it thought.
  16. Figured I should mention my website too, the Random Macross Archive. See my sig for the link. The site is basically weird and unusual stuff you (hopefully) won't find on other websites, all pertaining to Macross. Not your typical character bio/mecha info/story summary sites. Please, check it out.
  17. Egan Loo mentioned that new Macross works are always a possibility, but it's really up to Kawamori and if he comes up with a good story idea that could take place in the Macross universe. Keep in mind that while Macross 7 flopped with a lot of western Macross fans, it was pretty popular in Japan... even a few years after it's airing it managed to stay popular largely due to Fire Bomber music releases. I was also just reading a report about a con panel where one of the producers for Evangelion said there was some trepidation when they started working on Eva, because at the time "everyone was saying 'We want Macross 7!'" Personally I don't mind Kawamori's departures from the norm. Most Japanese directors tend to get bogged down in re-hashing everything (Gundam is a severe victim of this, despite how hard Tomino tried to kill it). In this way i respect Kawamori a lot. The problem is finding the balance between the serious military nature of the original and DYRL which a lot of fans like best (especially here on MW) and the more "out-there" stuff that turned off so many people from Macross 7. Thus far it seems like Macross Zero is doing this pretty well, but we'll have to wait and see.
  18. I doubt youd be able to find a buyer for it at that price, but it still makes me wonder if I actually have one... Hrmm... Semi-related, does anyone know if HG changed around the first issue when they re-released it in those Comico TPBs a few months back? I heard they edited the Genesis graphic novel, so I'm sure they must have edited #1 to make it real "Robotech."
  19. I always found it sad that so much background work was done on SC only to have it cut way short of it's intended run length. Glad to see new information is still being, now if only SC wasn't considered the ugly duckling.
  20. I remember when you translated the first few chapters on rec.arts.anime.models. Awesome job, can't wait to read more!
  21. They were valuable? Wow, I never knew that. I have a HUGE stack of various Robotech comics (Comico through Antarctic), but I definately never collected them thinking there was any value, cuz.. there isn't Yeah, I seem to remember issue #1's art had more of a watercolor/animation cell look to it, can't recall if I actually have that issue yet. More bonus info... Much like the Macross dub pilot, HG produced a dubbed pilot for Mospeada as well. Anyone know if thast on the extra discs in the Robotech set too?
  22. Interestingly enough, Comico's first "Robotech" comic was actually a comic adaption of the HG Macross pilot, Rick Yamada (or Yamato? I dont remember) and all. By issue #2 it had changed to Robotech: The Macross Saga.
  23. When I bought my near-immaculate '86 RX-7 it didn't have a single dent, literally.. the car was spotless. Since that time at least five dents have showed, including one big one. None happened while I wasin the car... all parking lot injuries. Sometimes you just wanna lock your car in an airtight garage and never let it out.

    VF-9

I had forgotten what an awesome fighter mode the VF-14 had, thanks for the pics! Any inormation on price of the kit or when it was released?
  25. I think most guys would go crazy for *anybody* in a Meltran uniform. I'll throw something random out and say Lucy from Macross Plus. Unique enough in that I don't think it's been done, but still easy enough to do with regular materials.
