  1. I'm with you. The only one I have is D for the GBA, and I can't figure out jack. Have you checked out GameFaqs.com? They have FAQs and walk throughs for a lot of the popular import games, so they might have what you need.
  2. That really does suck. I'd have a hard time believing a MPC Hovertank would sell, but I think a super poseable might do alright. Doubtful we'll see that though. <_< Southern Cross... Robotech's red-headed stepchild.
  3. Thanks for the info Valkyrie. I have half a mind to just cut them off and forget about it, the kit is so stylized anyways... I'm not really going for accuracy.
  4. Today I was looking over the parts to the non-scale Kaiyodo VF-19S resin kit I bought, and noticed something weird. It looks like on the back of the ankles there are two pieces of flash left, only thing is... they're really big. I'm almost sure these arent on the actual design of the VF-19S, but at the same time I'm not looking forward to sanding all that resin. Attached are pics... any comments?
  5. Heh...if Lucas had made Phantom Menace (or something resembling it) in 1977 instead of New Hope, I guarantee you that half the members of this board would have grown up sleeping in Darth Maul jammies, while sleeping between Jar Jar sheets. That's the point. Star Wars isnt respected because it was ana amazing movie, it's respected and appreciated because of people's sentimental attachment to it. Thats why people keep seeing the prequels when they continue to suck, thats why people but fourteen different boxed sets of the original trilogy and thats why people keep buying Star Wars toys. It's the sentimental attachment to the franchise.
  6. That is true, only the first half of HF and ANH really seem similar. Part of my problem with the notion of him having this elaborate backstory was the early scripts, which were very different and featured different characters, but hey, I'm not much of a Star Wars buff anymore. The funniest thing is that no matter how much people bitch and whine about the prequels or Lucas in general... We all still go to see the movies. No matter how much I dog on it or complain, the fact remains that Star Wars was a big part of my childhood, and that kind of attachment won't go away just because of Jar Jar Binks.
  7. Finally got a chance to play it, and I definately got to gree with Yoshi that it's a good game. A little average in terms of anime strategy games (very similar to others) but the good music and familiar Macross mecha definately make it worth while. I just wish my Japanese was good enough to really understand the story. By the end of the week I'll hopefully put up a section on my website about it, once I get all my screenshots and manual scans organized. JBO, playing it might be a bit difficult for you if you haven't played any Japanese strategy games. I'm sure you can figure it out, just expect some trial and error unless you have a kanji guide.
  8. Actually, it's not too well known that Lucas actually directed the throne room scenes in Jedi, including the Anakin reveal at the very end. And although he didn't actually write the sceenplays for Empire and Jedi, he was deeply involved in story conferencing with Kasdan during the writing process. Ultimately, what's on the screen is there because he wanted it to be there. Also, e-critics also love to omit the fact that Lucas somehow managed to write and direct A New Hope all by himself, without the "help" of Kershner and Kasdan. Didn't know that, but he certainly did have help from a movie called "The Hidden Fortress." A New Hope really wasn't all that good, it was a basic space opera who's most impressive part was the special effects. The whoel Star Wars backstory didn't come into fruition until A New Hope was released and became popular. By itself it's average space opera at best. Personally I liked American Graffiti, but since the early 80's Lucas' respectibility and quality of work has gone steadily down hill.
  9. LOL! You have NO idea wha you're talking about. Typo there, I meant to say direction not production. But otherwise my point is valid. Few people would disagree that Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi are the best of the Star Wars series. Thats the difference between them and A New Hope, Phantom Menace and Attack of the Clones? Lucas' involvement in the script and direction. Hrmmmm...
  10. Hey, c'mon now... Locas has done a lot of good things. Howard the Duck, Jar-Jar Binks... EWOKS. He's so disgustingly overrated and woefully untalented. The only reason Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi were decent was because he had nothing to do with the writing or production, story and producer... Although technically producers do a lot, but surmising from his extreme involvement in Episode 2 and Episode 3, we can surmise he is the root of the crappiness.
  11. Hey Burn, I'm not knowledgeable enough about PS2's to answer these questions, but one thought did come to mind. Is that PS2 NTSC or PAL compatible? I'm not sure how much it makes a different anymore but the whole PAL/NTSC 50/60mhz differences might play a factor, especially since you'd be importing games from Japan and the U.S.
  12. Gotta agree with David, I've never understood people's fascination with using the "proper" color. I mean, go into any model shop and you'll see a ton of different colors, just find one that matches or mix what you want. Realistically.. It's an anime model, even in the worst case scenario you won't have some military buff telling you that the color is wrong or something.
  13. Not to mention the old Super Friends episode with the SDF-1's bridge in it...
  14. Don't spread lies, HG isn't stopping Macross Zero. Not only have they said they'd be willing to help any Macross property get released over here, they're supporting the release of Macross 7 Trash. Macross Zero is less than a year, don't assume that just because a North American release hasn't been announced it hasn't been discussed or won't be inthe future. Rumors were going around this summer that Bandai or Pioneer had the rights. As for digisubs vs. bootlegs, aren't people forgetting that bootlegs are well, BOOTLEGS? As in you pay money for them and Shoji Kawamori/Big West doesn't see a dime. That's a pretty good reason not to buy them, I think.
  15. Are the stickers peel-and-stick or water based?
  16. Are those the miniatures from Games Workshop (same guys that do Warhammer) or something else?
  17. Hrmm.. Interesting, looking forward to seeing your project completed. Most of my car knowledge is Japanese and European related, I know next to nothing about American cars, so I'm pretty helpless on the topic. There's a few I really love though.
  18. Very cool, I'm glad to hear its a good game. I'm a big strategy buf, and although my Japanese isn't what I wish it was... I've played enough Japanese strategy games that hopefully I can get through this one okay. I definately agree on the appeal of the non-Studio Nue projects, I've been working on getting the PC-98 games to work on an emulator as well. Hoping that in the near future I can put together a feature about the non-Studio Nue works on my website, simply because you rarely see any information about them on the web. Nowadays they're defnately Macross' bastard child (more so than Macross 7) and they're rarely discussed.
  19. Just bought this game off of ebay for about $20, came in great shape (no scratches on the CD, manual in great shape, even had the little paper thing the hapanese put on the edge of their CDs). Haven't got a chance to play it yet since I don't have a Turbo Duo or a PC-Engine, just waiting to visit my girlfriend and play it on her computer with an emulator. Found a couple of cool sites with information on the game, but you don't see it discussed much. Hopefully once I play it a bit and get some good screen shots I'll post some info about it on my web site. So anyone played it? Comments? Complaints? BTW, here's the two sites I was talkin about: Link 1 Link 2 The second page is in Portuguese, so you might need to run it through Babblefish or something if you want to read it.
  20. Oohhh yeah. Looks like they forgot to bend down the cockpit part too. Think one of my friends had one of these when we were younger, looks pretty crappy.
  21. Wasn't the Falcon the car used in the Road Warrior/Mad Max movies? i believe it was, but they used a '73-'74 model for that movie, the body style totally changed from the '69 models, the '73 is the same body style as the '70. but for that movie they used a custom nose and rear spoiler for the car Max used. I always thought it was either a ford maverick or an AMC javalin depending on if you were an American or aussie... According to this site it was a 1973 XB GT Ford Falcon Coupe, a car exclusive to Austrailia. Lightning, are you in Austrailia? Just curious because I know of a few Falcons being imported to the US, but they aren't very common at all.
  22. I'd glad to see your back, I love you site.. can't wait to see new updates. Sounds good about the VF-2SS, just PM me with a desire user name and I'll set you up.
  23. Sorry, I didn't mean to step on any toes. Just saw the program (Coppermine) and went "hrmm..." BTW, I haven't posted this in the models or toys section, but model kit makers and toy customizers are definately welcome! Gotta have some variety, you know.
  24. Not a bad costume, better than a lot of the other Macross uniform costumes I've seen.
  25. Wasn't the Falcon the car used in the Road Warrior/Mad Max movies?
