I think the Columbine Shooting had a big effect on the movie industry, before that I could walk up and buy a ticket for an R rated movie when I was 14 or younger, but after peopel starting blaming everything on violence in movies and video games it got tougher.

I'm pretty sure X was part of an older rating system which was (I think) G, PG, R and X. Kubrick's Sparticus I think was rated X because of naked gusy taking baths together (It was Rome...). At some point they added PG-13 and I think replaced X with NC-17.

I doubt they will, the whole reason for the region coding on DVDs and games is so that only people in the countries where the games and DVDs are released are supposed to play them. Just order the game from a US-based importer, like ncsx.com.

Yeah, it is BS but in the end I liked it. Anyone else notice how the music turned to an older style and got kinda scratchy during the black and white part? Personally when I first saw it I thought it was a homage to older samurai films. Guess I was wrong.

My friend just told me the black and white portion of the big fight near teh end was added because otherwise they weren't going to get an R rating. Supposedly it was shown in color in Asia, Graham can you confirm that? I still need to see it again, haven't enjoyed a movie that much in quite some time...

Didn't notice the 747, but I laughed because it was obviously a model. Even as it was landing it looked like the Tokyo cityscape is was passing overhead was a bunch of miniature buildings. A nod to Japanese tokusatsu movies? I dunno.

I tried messing around with the roms too, but since Magic Engine (whatsup with charging for an emulator btw? Thats BS) doesn't support CDs in anything other than Mac OS 8 (well, in the Mac versions) I just broke down and bought ELS on CD for $20 of of eBay.

An old friend of mine I worked with doing kitchen work in a restaurant used to say a BS "deep" phrase all the time: "A plate can fall from the top shelf and not break." But I guess it's true. Glad to hear about your toy not being destroyed.

Thanks 4 the info KK! How did you find this out? I'm guessing someone took their Japanese girlfriend to go see it. I saw it, loved it. Honestly was blown away by how good it was. But I think it helps that I really like cheesey Japanese and Chinese movies. Even with stupid crap like Godzilla I still get excited about seeing guys in rubber suits fight, so this movie was perfect for me. I wasn't too bothered by the gore, since it was all done in a comic fashion. The few gross points I don't think were anything worse than what I'd seen before in previous Tarantino movies. But I was subjected to Natural Born Killers and A Clockwork Orange at a pretty young age, so I might have a different opinion than some. Talking to two of my female friends (who are both pretty squemish), they both agreed they didn't like the violence and gore but still really liked the movie; suppose it depends on the person. Only thing that actually annoyed me whiel watching was teh snow in the final scene. It looked really cool, but it doesn't snow much in Tokyo and in earlier scenes there was no snow to be found. But... that's a dumb complaint.

Yeah, I always take forever finishing a model project. Definite props regardless of whether or not you manage to finish it tonight. Can't wait to see pics, what scale is it?

Some of the older Macross models were pre-colored right? Maybe not very well, but it's something.

That last picture makes her look like an older Natalie Portman. As for the Animatrix, the historical ones looked cool but were filled with some big loop holes. Blotting out the sun? How is that even remotely a smart idea? Too many implausibilities. Maxtriculated was painful. Trying to be "deep" and meaningful without actually saying anything. The one with the runner was painfully slow and the characters looked horrible. I liked the one with the weird house though, that was pretty cool. A big problem with most of the shorts was that they were badly animated. Good designs, but not very many frames of animation and most just looked jerky and weren't very smooth.

I''m interested, but not interested enough to spend the money on it right now, you know? I didn't care much for the version of it in Robotech, so I'm a little curious to see the original. From what I've heard though, it'd be a lot better if it hadn't been cancelled half way through. I hoping after this ADV might release some other obscure 80's anime. Dorvack, Dougram, etc.

Well, they only bought about 2.5% of the company, not like it's a takeover or anything. I think if anything Nintendo is just trying to buy some support from Bandai, some SRW or other licensed games certainly wouldn't hurt the Gamecube... And I'd prefer if the Macross game was released on the GC, smoother graphics faster loading times and a whole helluva lot easier to import. But it's pretty unlikely.

Don't ever bring up Animatrix again - that was 2 horrible hours of my life. I felt cheated after watching that (I wanted my 2 hours back - I didn't pay to get in). That being said, I'm going to be quite upset if it's the same trailer that was on the Reloaded reel (I was working Reloaded here so I actually noticed it as we were getting finished up). Wow, someone else that feels the same way I do about The Animatrix. Saw it at Anime Expo this summer, it was friggin painful. So many crappy shorts. Yeesh. Has anyone heard about the rumored ending for Revolutions? If it's true, it's gonna be a stinker.
