  1. Pretty sure most of it was skill and memorization. It's obvious the guy's been playing the game for a very long time. Very cool video, it's too bad he used the warp whistles though.
  2. I don't know if prohibiting the discussion of fan subs is the right thing to do, although MW walks an odd line between what kind of piracy discussion is 'okay.' iMacross and bit torrent digisubs discussions are okay, but Kazaa stuff isn't? Fundamentally the problem with fansubbing is that it involves a lot of ego; always has. Thus we get problems like the trolls coming here just to complain about the Infusion guys,
  3. Correct, back to you VHD. And yeah, Toren Smith runs Studio Proteus which does manga translations for quite a few comic companies, not just Dark Horse.
  4. Jeopardy style This American-based manga translator had a character based on him in one of Gainax's most popular series.
  5. Okay, we get it. I think they look good, though the eyes weird me out a bit. Planning on doing anything like GBP armor or Fast Packs, Mechmaster?
  6. This is crazy, but I guess it goes to show how far anime fandom has changed. For a long time if you even hinted at preferring ADV over AnimEigo you'd be shot down. Personally I think ADV is crap, and don't do the same quality other companies do. AnimEigo at one time was the real 'fan's choice,' but it seems like they're on the way out. They've always tended to do more fan-favorites than big sellers (which the exception of the early 90's - BGC, OH MyGoddess, etc.) and as a result they have less money to buy more series. Compare this to ADV who made their initial money selling H-videos and then going up and buying all the biggest releases.
  7. IMDB says it was released on June 1st, 1984 so I was less than four months old. But it was mentioned a few times in the BubbleGum Crisis RPG book, so that's how I know.
  8. Streets of Fire.
  9. I'm confused as to why the mods have limited power, maybe Shawn hasn't fully set everything up yet? Either way, the best course of action is to IGNORE the trolls until they get banned.
  10. That probably means either you don't have a Japanese character set installe don your computer, or you need to change your Character Coding to Shift_JIS (which made them show up for me).
  11. Just noticed this on the compendium: Weird.
  12. Yeah, not to mention the fact that the single-player mode was the first advancement in FPS' since Castle Wolfenstein. My friend's and I still pull it out to play sometimes, hard to beat License to Kill with pistols.
  13. I really don't understand people's problems with this thing, it's not like their hasn't been 'official' threads before. It seems like people felt A7 had some malicious motivation behind the thread, which he obviously hasn't. He's contributed more to Macross World than pretty much all of us; give the guy some credit. Glad to know we here at Macross World can still be totally immature and ridiculous when we need to be, and here I was thinking we could be civilized and decent human beings.
  14. Definately, strong single player games on the PC are a rarity and that's a bit troubling. Personally I think online gaming has it's place but the amount of emphasis placed on it nowadays is ridiculous. That said video games go through cycles, and I'm sure in a few years we won't see nearly the same level of focus on onlien games... I hope.
  15. Dude... THAT was Bill. That is the irony of the entire O'ren thing. Er, makes sense... but where'd you hear that?
  16. Cuz they were way over priced. .......................And how many do you think were sold? <--- I tried looking for sales figures online, couldn't find any, but I did find this: Got that from an FAQ you can find at: http://www.studio42.com/vidgame/SGNomad/nomadfaq.shtml Hopefully that'll help you out sidearms. I had a similar problem when I was trying to take apart my N64, since that used a weird hexagonal screw.
  17. What!?! Did the 1st one even do well enough to justify more Judge Dredd movies? I don't think so, but 2000AD (the comic Judge Dredd appears in) was recently bought out by a big video-game company (name escapes me) so I think they're trying to 're-introduce' the franchise.
  18. Cuz they were way over priced.
  19. Demolition Man was funny and original in some parts, but it wasn't great. I dunno if I'd call it bad per se. Judge Dredd was a huge disapointment, did a miserable job of bringing over the charm and originality of the original comics. They're making a couple new Judge Dredd movies right now, but they will no doubt suck. <_<
  20. Free? Hot diggity. How far away is Lakewood from Frank and Sons? I might go there after (or before) the mini-meet this weekend.
  21. Zelda: Links Awakening and Link to the Past.
  22. Sign me up for truckload of those. If only... The Rei doll looks cool, but Eva isn't my thing. Certainly better than "regular" dolls. But then again, certain people like buying dolls of anime characters.
  23. They blamed the AUM Shinkrikyo (I forget exactly how to spell it) on Patlabor II? I hadn't heard that one before. Although interestingly enough, AUM produced it's own manga doujinshi in fairly large quantities. Frederick Schodt wrote about it at length in his later manga book (not 'Manga! Manga!'... 'Dreamland Japan' I think?)
  24. Heh... You're being sarcastic... Right? <_<
  25. After the first Matrix movie came out, I remember a muder case where a guy believed he was in the matrix or some nonsense like that. Some people just can't tell the different between real and make believe.
