Sega's been plagued with bad business decisions since the days of the Saturn, and recently they've spent a lot of time trying to fix that and get themselves back on track. For Sammy, strengthening Sega's arcade assets make sense. For one thing, Sega's arcade division turned a profit last quarter whereas their software division didn't. Also, Sammy's main business is pachino... and ideally thats pretty similar to arcades. I'm worried that Sammy is gonna misuse Sega's properties as a way to strengthen their pachinko business... something Aruze did when they bought out SNK.

You're right, I forget the abundance of anime characters dressed head-to-toe without a piece of skin showing. <_<

Yeah, they're only really worth it if you're really practiced and need it for everyday practice of the forms in Wing Chun. Otherwise you're better off doing conditioning with trees and other hard things that don't cost so much.

Ahh man, that's nothing. I knew a girl that used to go to a martial arts place (Karate? Tae Kwon Do? I forget) where the head teacher used to make up forms to go along to music. Music like Welcome to the Danger Zone it was totally ridiculous and I laughed in her face when she told me about it. Also, Anubis, those wooden dummies are used in Wing Chun... usually cost around $800. Far more cost effective to beat up on a door way, thats what I used to do.

RID had a lamborghini. Was this VW policy made afterwards? Yes and no. VW has always been stingy with how their licenses and the likenesses of their cars have been used. (Still trying to live down those WWII Nazi associations) That said, there was a Lamborghini (Mach Alert/Prowl) toy released as part of the Car Robots/RID toy line. BUT....here is the catch; It was *not* a licensed toy. No one at Takara or Hasbro approached VW officials and asked to make a toy in the likeness of their vehicle. (As a matter of fact, the only licensed vehicle in the entire line is RID Sideburn. Dodge/Daimlier Chrysler saw how much it looked like a real Viper and approached Hasbro to put their their name and symbol on the package) Maybe VW was not aware of the use of their vehicle image in the CR/RID line...or more likely didn't care since their company name appeared nowhere on the toy or package. Why does that all matter? Because Takara/Hasbro has annouced the entire Alternators/Binaltech line will be comprised of licensed vehicles. So, no getting around asking VW's permission this time. And from past experience...chances are they would say no... When was that line of cars made? Lambo might not have even been owned by VW at the time. The whole not-being-associated-with-war thing is a bit silly; a different time and pretty much a different company. Maybe the stigma from the Type 101 "Thing" forced them into their anti-war position.

Yeah, those look awesome. I much prefer the original Minmay Guard design to the newer one, but you made both look fantastic. Any chance you can share some background as to how you made them?

Nothing says cool like a black ninja outfit that says NINJA in bright neon pink down the side of the leg. I've never seen kendo taught by using a "contract," or aikido for that matter, but really it depends on the teacher. My kendo was $10 a month, plus something like $30 for 6 months of federation dues (for tournaments). But kendo's expense is more in terms of the one-time cost of buying your bogu, which I think scares a lot of people off from the art.

Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic

I ruined Fallout by shooting the dog. <_< -
The day when we can have a big budget movie not starring a white guy will be a great day indeed. Or if they don't star a white guy, they pair up two peopel of color. Like in Rush Hour or any of the DMX/Jet Li movies... Can't have an asian guy star, gotta pair him up with the hip-hop guy to make sure we make some money and people don't feel too uncomfortable. In a Japanese shogunate setting, being able to have a movie starring a western hero isn't that easy so you tend to get into Shogun-style situations. Although Shogun was pretty contrived and definately a "western" story forced into a Japanese setting... And I never did get why they changed all the names of real people.

Which is your favorite Star Wars movie?

Vostok 7 Some people actually like Jar Jar, as crazy at that seems. My Dad really liked him for some reason, but then again he dragged me to go see Wild Wild West, so... <_< Judging movies based on the amoutn of money they made is a pretty flawed concept, I guess you could always adjust for inflation but even still that seems a bit skewed. I never got why it was just based on number of tickets sold... that stays the same no matter the time. But I suppose with Hollywood's money-driven reasonings... -
Yeah... like two. Cosplay gets a bad name, and unrightly so in the U.S. It's not my thing and I don't do it, but some people make it out to be this horrible part of fandom filled with nothing but overweight people. Cosplay in itself is rather silly, but it doesn't deserve the scorn it receives.

While claiming to use CG, at the time it was actually just cheaper to clone real dinosaurs and use those. So... they're real. -
The black belt is basically a scam perpretated on the general public, and in actuality doesn't have much historical backing or importance. Most martial arts never used belts; it's something that's been popularized recently because it makes for good business. People taking martial arts have a hard time feeling satisfied with that they've accomplished; nowadays people like concrete evidence of "improvement" and that's what belts provide to people. Every six months or so the teacher hands out another belt so that people feel like they're doing a good job. I cringe every time I hear of somebody who got a black belt in three years; that's total BS. The idea of reaching the highest level in a martial art in such a short amount of time is laughable not to mention the training itself. Nowadays generic karate and tae kwon do teachings are are a sport, not a real martial art. They train the practioner in a very controlled environment; only a few places to attack (which are the most well protected on the human body); with plenty of padding and no use of anything remotely dangerous or deadly (i.e. effective).

No, the fact that he's suddenly 16 by the next movie and she hasn't changed a bit is a touch of a stretch. Vostok 7 So despite the hundreds of different aliens, the intergalactic space ships, the people wielding swords of fire and able to use telekinesis, the robots.... You find her not aging implausible? -
I took kendo for a while and thing wing chun kung fu. Probably gonna restart kendo so that I don't have that $500 piece of bogu sitting around saying "Use me... use me..."

I'm pretty sure there's no destroid missions. Why not play one of the Armored Core games? That's pretty Destroid0ish, and designed by Kawamori to boot.

Or people could shut up with the bitching and move on with their "lives." Always the classy response, eh Max? People might stop bitching and moaning if the mods gave them a better answer rather than just a swarmy comment and a lock or a link to the forum's rules. Don't forget that mods are here to serve the people and the forum, if they don't have the time or energy to explain their actions it might be better to find replacements who do. I'm not trying to knock you guys, but the occasional comment like Max's there does nothing good for the forum and only reflects badly upon the moderators.

Oh my god. New Mikimoto art book. Damn him! His work is now too damn good. How can I compete with that? Absolutely awesome. I haven't seen his other new stuff yet, but the cover of that book looks horrid. Generic anime girl colored with CG, *yawn* I hope he hasn't lost his original style...

I'm guessing it was staged... I kind of doubt otaku would throw big slumber parties, they most likely prefer private time with their pillows...

Theres also been a few members selling parts on eBay, although they can be pretty pricey.

First time I've seen anything for the movie, looks interesting at least. I haven't read the comic in years though. And Exo was right, Hellboy looks weird. Whats with his massive chops?

Er, why does it matter if it has subs or not? The japanese language track is still there...
