Hey Hey Hey! Looks like there is a 4th Stage
yellowlightman replied to HG Blows's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
There'll no doubt be a 5th stage too, they still have a lot to cover from the manga... and it's still ongoing. I got tired of Initial D this summer... too little story, too much incorrect info... overrated a bit, I think. -
Better Sideswipe Transformation !
yellowlightman replied to Otaru Ikari's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Doesn't help that it was based on a pretty ugly car design. <_ -
That's a bad thing? I loved Federation vs. Zeon, even though I had the DC version without many extras or 2-player mode... I played the bajeezus out of it. If AEUG vs. Titans is the same, sign me up.

Who is the person in this cel?
yellowlightman replied to Noriko Takaya's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
IIRC, they used the name Mimsy in the US Renditions dub, so you were right. Anyone have any idea how much they changed the names in the dub? Mimsy sounded Japanese-enough I hadn't thought about it, but I guess it makes sense. Its a shame they never released a subbed version. -
Lemme guess, named him Conan?

Very cool card man

Should be the other way around. The only incentive for Nintendo to buy Bandai is if the Big N is doing poorly financially and adding Bandai to their assets would improve their bottomline and their prospective attractive to investors. Bandai's been raking in the bucks after a banker took over in the late 1990s. Nintendo OTOH had to slash the price on their GameCube by 50% just to stay in the game. Bzzzt, try again. Nintendo's consoles haven't been doing that well lately but that's not to say they're in financial troubles. Last I heard they were sitting on $5 billion thanks to Pokemon, not to mention the GBA which consistently sells really well with some very strong selling games. Obviously they're not as diversified as Microsoft or Sony, but implying that they're in financial trouble is quite wrong.

If Nintendo does end up taking control of Bandai, I doubt that much woudl change in terms of anime distribution. Likely Bandai would remain much as it is, and carry on business much as they do now. The only major difference I could think of would be video games, and I have no idea if Nintendo would try to get rid of all PS2 development or what; but I'm guessing anime distribution wouldn't change much. Not to mention that on the Bandai anime totem pole Macross is pretty far down there, definately less of a money maker than Gundam or more recent stuff like One Piece.

I think that's the thing we tend to forget; that no matter what kind of arguments we might have on the board fundamentally we're all Macross fans. I think sometimes bad blood comes up accidently, as a result of the heated discussions we have and it's important to remember that it's just a message board and we're here to be friendly and share a common passion; not piss each other off.

Cool pictures Rico, you're improving a lot. Planning on using this character in a fan-fic or something?

I'm alwayys surprised how much of a fanbase the English voice actors have nowadays... A lot of them seem really popular at conventions. Pretty cool I think, it's a shame dubbing is still held in such a negative regard by so much of aniem fandom.

Wow, I'd never known that Ghostbusters predated the Dan Akroyd movie. Learn something new every day...

Probably not since those were just released on the PS1, and as such are still playable on the PS2.

And when everything was going so well...
yellowlightman replied to wakobi's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Moderating makes one...bitter...doesn't it? No, its just that he's getting all this credit and he really had nothing to do with it except the stupid parts that he felt the need to add. Tolkien had mad reference materials, including art. Look at all his other movies and you'll see what a no-talent hack he is. I hope he doesn't get his hands on any other beloved franchises. PS- On the whole, I like the LOTR movies, but I know that he had little to do with this fact. Er, you're quite wrong on this one. He managed to do a damn good job translating an incredible difficult and complicated story into film. He did it well enough that not only are most of the hardcore fanboys happy, but the mainstream public digs it as well. That's a hell of an accomplishment, and people really don't give him enough credit for that. Translating such a volume of work into film isn't easy, so don't be so quick to write it off as such. -
What about the people who made Macross M3? That was made by bandai... Where did you get that from? It's made by Shoeisha and nowhere on the package does it say Bandai (yes I paid for my copy). Damn, you're right. Sorry about that.

And when everything was going so well...
yellowlightman replied to wakobi's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Re-reading the article, I don't think it's liek the same thing re-edited 12 times... I think it's just different things happening. Like... it shows what happens to each character, not 12 different endings per se... Just individual wrap ups to each character. Bad choice of words on the part of the article, it's pretty misleading. -

Based on what? If bad acting was always the directors fault... there would be no such thing as bad actors. Even good actors can't act when given a shitty script. Hence Liam Neeson, among others, coming off like crap in Ep I (hell, and Ep II)

Which is your favorite Star Wars movie?
yellowlightman replied to Jolly Rogers's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
I think it's mostly because he looks cool. He became really popular 5-10 years ago when they started making comics and novels based around him fleshing out his background. I choked when I saw Lucas was gonna put him in Ep II because it was an obvious fan handout. He was nothing in the original, brining him (well, his father) to the level of importance they did in Ep II was ridiculous and felt really forced. -
If people actually read your sig rather than going "OMG Steroids!" it should be pretty obvous. That forum is funny in a sad kinda way.

Search around for either Takatoys or wait until Anasazi's next decal order... That should set you up.

Yeah, those character designs look a little bit retro... Which is very cool. Hopefully this series turns out good!

Yeah, we'll definately be seeing more games on the Atomiswave arcade board. Which is a little... I dunno, I have mixed feelings. Basically the Atomiswave is just repackaged Dreamcast hardware so it's a bit ironic... but it's also inferior to newer stuff. The benefit is that it's really cheap and I saw an article talking about how it would allow them to make money in developing countries. As for the whole arcade vs. console thing... It's not liek Sega is going to be ignoring the console division... but for the time being their arcade games have been much more successful (so many XBox games probably hurt them...) so Sammy just wants them to focus on what is profitable so that they can actually make money.

Thats awesome, what kind of kits are those?
