  1. I'd rather see Bruckheimer stop making movies, he churns out crap like none other. That said, I think a Tetris movie would work really well.
  2. Wasn't so much of their "rep" that was built on porn, it was their profits. Porno anime was/is relatively easy to license and produce and sold reasonably well, so much of their early money they made off the hentai genre. That early money would allow them to pick up bigger name titles later on...
  3. What happened with Pixar? And I've always really disliked Disney, so I can't say I'm too broken up over them facing hard times.
  4. Torren Smith Yup yup, guess that was too easy. All yours Jeleinen.
  5. What American-based translator had a character based off of him in a Studio Gainax OAV?
  6. Indeed. What animation are these lyrics from: "...Yes, my sweet, Yes my sweetest I wanna get back where you were..."? The third MS Gundam movie. Mebbe the TV series too? I'm nto sure, knwo for sure it was in the movie though.
  7. That looks really good Nick, looks like it's not too difficult a mod either. How long did it take you?
  8. I remember reading Mecha Press from around the time Victory Gundam came out and it seemed to be pretty popular in Japan when it was being broadcast. I'm guessing a lot of the American Gundam fans dismissed it because it wasn't "serious" enough or some bollocks like that.
  9. Coolest thing about the Atomiswave hardware is that it's based on the Dreamcast. Makes me wonder if we might see some ports to the DC, simply because the DC is still getting a trickle of niche games, and SNK games certainly fit the bill. Any idea what the difference is between KOF NeoWave and KOF 2004?
  10. Worst. Joke. Ever. Pretty freaky though, kids these days...
  11. Man, if Macross fans aren't attacking Robotech fans they're attacking each other. I'd say chill out and get a life/its just a cartoon/not the end of the world, but I forget this is fandom. As long as no one has an ulcer or kills somebody, all in good fun, right...?
  12. $3.99 starting bid as well Who else is wishing the had a carton in the attic? If I only knew then what I know now Why's that little thing so expensive?
  13. Yeah, I haven't seen Albert around at all. That guy had some kick ass art (and was one of the first fan artists who posted stuff on MFC), but it seems like the business of real life might be keeping him away from the message board.
  14. Slightly OT, anyone know when the summer Wonderfest is or any websites with info about Tokyo model shows? I'll be in Japan this summer, so I figure I'll try to hit some up.
  15. I'm pretty sure there was an anime. The manga series is great though. Now I'm pissed because it was the first question in the last 5 pages I actually knew, and saw it too late.
  16. For the most part, custom Valks aren't nearly as common anymore. I guess the variety in Yamato's releases and the Bandai reissues got rid of the need for most customs, though we still have some members making some really kick ass customs. Macross Fan Works (see my sig) is open to toy customizers too, but most of the people who use it are fan artists.
  17. I'd recommend watching both, as they both have their good and bad points. The english dubbed Macross Plus episodes are pretty good, but the translations get sketchy in the 3rd episode around a pretty important plot twist...
  18. I'm gonna have to say TNG just because I grew up watching it. DS9 in a close second, the later years of DS9 just rocked. I watched Voyager for a while and stopped. Never even tried Enterprise, and never saw enough of TOS to have much of an opinion.
  19. Her birthday is May 31st, 2010. I had always thought she was closer to 30 in the series, but I guess she was only 22. Go fig. Source: http://robkelk.ottawa-anime.org/bgc/original.html
  20. Yeah... Since they can't even make a decent 1/2 hour of TV anymore, I doubt their ability to make a 90 minute movie any good. But seriously, wtf? This seems like something that shoudl have happened in the early 90's when Simpsons merchandising was rampant. Bart Simpson skateboards anyone? Euugh.
  21. I believe VOTOMS was indeed released here on DVD, animeondvd.com has reviews on it. I think it was a situation like the Bubblegum Crisis DVDs where a third party licensed it from the rights holders here (in this case CPM) to release it on DVD. Yes. It was shown on the International Channel a few years ago. Sometime around 2000-2002.
  22. Cased Closed isn't that bad of a name, Detective Conan is no great name mind you. At least we're getting in the States, and hopefully it won't be edited to death.
  23. Offline play is pretty fun. Fundamentally the only difference is the human interaction, in terms of gameplay and levels its the same thing. The 4-player offline mode is a lot of fun, my friends and I spent most of December playing it into the wee-morning hours. Despite being a little limited and old (first came out in 2000 or so), it's still a great game. Better designed and less frustrating then Final Fantasy: Crystal Chronicles.
  24. I'm impressed they're doing it. I was always under the impression CPM took a hit on the chin when they released all bazillion episodes of VOTOMS, which I didn't think sold very well. Looks like there's going to be a good episode/disc ratio. Might be worth picking up.
  25. Lemme clear soemthing up for you guys, since some of you have trouble understanding this. ROBOTECH FANS AREN'T IDIOTS Things may have changed, but when I was a regular in the Robotech community (pre-Robotech.com days) every Robotech fan knew the difference between Macross and Robotech. Not only did they know the difference, 95% of them liked both Macross and Robotech. I'll pause for a second to let you guys pull your jaws off the floor. A lot of people here on Macross World are under the impression that Robotech fans dont understand the differences between Macross and Robotech. Unless the average IQ of Robotech.com members is painfully low, it's pretty safe to say that they understand the differences as well. My point is that just because people here on Macross World disagree with most Robotech fans, don't let a difference in opinion give you the idea that they're idiots. For that matter, don't let a few losers with too much time on their hands that come and troll over here ruin your opinion of all Robotech fans, either.
