  1. he drinks beer. thats so hard core. pwned. uh? Sarcasm, I'm guessing.
  2. Well, if the characters don't at least resemble the original charcters in some form, then he might as well scrap the BGC basis and just make an 100% original piece. Doesn't make sense for "Priss" to be driving the Highway Star either (in street clothes, no less).
  3. Technically impressive, but his renditions of the Knight Sabers and Cynthia sucks and look nothing like the original characters. Those "escort" boomers are too Agent-ish with the suits and stuff. I dunno, we'll see how it turns out.
  4. As long as the brakes still work like they should, I wouldn't worry too much about it.
  5. Maybe the three of you should get a room.
  6. YEAH! Get it right! You know if you pronounce "Miriya" like a Japanese person would, it sounds exactly like "Milia."
  7. In defense of Keith, Michael Jackson did sing 'We are the World' in response to the Cold War. So there's some real life M7-ish behavior for ya. So I guess Keith and Michael Jackson are in the same boat. Dude, wasn't We Are The World a funraiser for starving kids in Africa?
  8. I know Silicon Knights programmed the game, but I was under the impression that Kojima was behind the creative aspects of the game. As a game, it's fine. Everything else, meh. Pretty sure he didn't have much of a role in Twin Snakes at all, besides creating the first one. It wasn't originally Kojima's idea to remake it, either, that was Nintendo's doing.
  9. Very cool, I've had an unfinished 1/6th Deunan Knute I never started because I was too scared to do the eyes. Minmay looks a lot better with those decals, although I dunno if the style of eyes really fits the HAl design.
  10. I kind of enjoyed Battlecry, so if I hadn't lost my Gamecube, I'd probably try renting Invasion.
  11. Twin Snakes was handled by Silicon Knights, not Kojima. His involvement was minimal at best.
  12. Head over to Iraq, find a raging firefight, don your best glam-rock outfit, jump in the middle of said firefight, and give it a shot. I think the goofiness will be readily apparent. -Al Psst.. it's a cartoon! With giant robots. And aliens. But you're right, the singing is ridiculous.
  13. There's no reason for him to be upset, it's a questionable auction as people have a right to be suspicious, especially considering how often peopel get ripped off. Instead of getting mad the seller should have 1) listed the items better in the first place, or 2) just posted pictures to prove that the items are complete.
  14. Rumor is that the full version is already in the hands of a lucky few...
  15. No one will ever embrace it? HAH! Toyota dealerships have waiting lists 6+ months long for the Prius, and demand will likely be just as big if not greater for their new hybrid Highlander SUV. Not to mention Ford's new hybrid SUV. Change will come eventually, hybrids are merely a stop-gap method of conservation until the technology and infrastructure for alternative fuels like hydrogen are fully figured out and implemented. Not to mention that SUV's are just plain dumb. Need the space? Get a (smaller) pickup. Too many kids? Wear a condom. The SUV is a frivolous egobooster that people drive around to make them feel like theit lives are bold and exciting. The vast majority of people don't need them.
  16. Gotta love how en vogue it is to rip on cosplayers. Because a bunch of guys sitting around talking about a 20 year old anime online are so much cooler.
  17. What I've heard is that Macross 7 was supposed to be how original Macross TV continued (had not been shortened), although with several changes. Maybe it's only a rumor, but at least this seems believable. FV Not story wise, more in terms of themes and ideas. Egan Loo talked about it at MW Con3 I remember, and he said soemthing to the effect that it used some ideas that they were originally going to implement in the original Macross series (Sp-sp-sp-spritua?), but not exact plot points. If that makes sense.
  18. Fanime Con is in the Bay Area, so definately California.
  19. Look at the name of the file, Fanime Con.
  20. I just got back from a long vacation there, will hopefulyl be returning to Tokyo for a while around the new year.
  21. Funny video, feel bad for the cosplayers as it's obvious that it was edited to make them look dumb. Nonetheless, passed it along to a friend who wanted to cosplay at this years Anime Expo...
  22. More from this summer.
  23. Got a source? Don't think anythings been announced yet, but I didn't pay that much attention to the new stuff mentioned at the Tokyo Game Show.
  24. First I've heard that tidbit. Can anyone confirm this and/or provide a source? Actually, all anime is aimed at kids. Just which part of the kid-spectrum are we talking about? 4-9 or 10-16? I think Ewilen was actually questioning the comment about Macross 7 originally intending to be about Hikaru and Misa. But yeah, the vast majority of anime is aimed at kids. The simple reason is because kids buy toys and merchandise, and merchandise and toys get anime funded. Sponsors want to be able to sell merchandise based on a series, which is why Gundam has so many frickin' mobile suits and Macross has transforming Valkyrie: it's a gimmick to get kids to buy more toys. In the 80's when OVA's were first catching on they were appealing to creators because they didn't require the gobs of money that a TV series or movie did, and thus they could be made with fewer sponsors. Fewer sponsors equals less requirements for merchandise from the creators and gives them more freedom, which is why you see weird anime like Genocyber and M.D. Geist which wouldn't have been able to be produced in other forms.
  25. Took this one in Ikebukuro over the summer.
