They were translated by Frederick Schodt, the dame guy who wrote the books Manga Manga! and Dreamland Japan. I think the translation came off as rather dry, which makes sense because Schodt isn't much of a prose writer, to my knowledge. Not to mention he'll be continually criticized for romanizing Char's name as the correct "Sha."

I'm pretty sure they did, or at least Char managed to get his own Gundam. Goes to show why the books aren't canon, as they don't seem to work with the sequels. I don't think Gundam stresses canon storylines as much as a series like Macross does. The original One Year War and the White Base story has been told in so many forms, it's almost irrelevant exactly which one is the right one.

Played the hell out of this yesterday with some friends, only played multi though... so I have no idea what the single player is like. But based on that I'd say the game is good, but not great or nearly as amazing as so many XBox fanboys say it is. Outside of goofing around with vehicles in team matches, it seems like a pretty average FPS to me. For what it's worth, I can't see myself putting in as much time on this one as I did with Goldeneye back in the day.

From what I've heard from amutual friend, he seems like a pretty smart and interesting guy. If anything, the big debate over MGS2 has made me want to play it... All I've touched of Kojima's are Snatcher, Policenauts and a few hour sof MGS, so I can't say much of anything.

If they didn't want people to think it was a Macross sequel, then they wouldn't have included various scenes of stock footage (stock footage not being against terms of copyright, & directly falling under their distribution). They didn't include any original designs in the new animation because they weren't allowed to. I'm talking about the Japanese deisgn team and animators leaking that there was a Macross sequel. They weren't trying to keep peopel from thinking the finished product was a Macross sequel, they were trying to not let it get out that they were working on a sequel. Use of stock footage has nothing to do with it...

That may be partially true, but a large part of the change in character design was because HG and Tatsunuko wanted to make sure no one thought The Sentinels was a Macross sequel. That's why the Japanese production team had nicknames for all the returning Macross Saga characters and Breetai's helemet was changed, so that it wasn't leaked that a Macross sequel was in production. Get over yourself. No one in Japan knows or cares about Harmony Gold. Or Macross for that matter given how popular and successful it is of late.

Not many, as far as I know. I took over for Fer (YllwDancr) sending out the Updates, but life got hectic and they eventually got infrequent and then stopped all together. That was around... Spring/Summer of '99 I think

Don't bother, I bought it for about $16 and regret it. Kooky idea, but the gameplay is horrible and there's tons of slow-down. After the first couple of levels, it's pretty much unplayable.

Nothing like ANOTHER repackaged version of Tokyo Xtreme Racer/Shutoku Battle. But if it ever comes out on PS2, I might grab a copy to balance out the Kaido Battle I've been playing somuch.

Which Gamestop? The one at Fashion Center or whatever they call that mall? Used to go there a lot when I was going to CSUN. Played Katamari Damacy a bit when i was in Japan, it's fun and quirky. Very original. You can beat it in a day if you try, and after you beat it you probably won't play it too much more. But it's worth $20, wanted to get the JP version, but it was going for ~$30, and that was too much IMHO. I think it's receiving a lot of hype because it's "underground" (sorta) and a quirky Japanese game, the latter of which we don't get many of here. But a bit overrated. Still though, I'd say it's worth the $20... if you can find it. I've been hearing it's been selling out most places because it wasn't released in great numbers. If I had the money at the time I would have grabbed a few and held onto them until their prices on eBay went up.
