  1. Your ability to ignore facts both baffles and amazes me. From 1996 to 1999 Tommi Makinen won the driver's championship in a Mitsubishi in the World Rally Championship. Compare that to the two driver's championships Audi driver's have, from 1983 and 1984. (source) Both first and second places in this year's Paris-Dakar rally went to people driving Mitsubishi's. If it makes you feel better, a Volkswagen came in third and since an Audi is an overpriced AWD Volkswagen, so I'll give you that one. (source) Perhaps next time you should do some research before making yourself look like an idiot.
  2. I can't Audi S4 starts at $46k, you can get a stripped LanEvo (without the wing) for around $30k. So your point is? Maybe you missed the part about how I mentioned the people blowing these clutches were RACING them? The Audi S4 is a great car, but it's not a race car and certainly not very suited for Solo II/Auto-X racing.
  3. Awesome comeback, glad you had time to write it out before you went to middle school this morning. If you were spinning tires, you were exceeding speed limits or at the very least driving recklessly. Did you even read what I said? LanEvo clutches go bad fast because all that power going through an AWD system means the tires aren't going to slip or lose traction, so all that power is being placed on the clutch. I'm guessing the reason they didn't buy an Audi is because they wanted the power and handling of a LanEvo, which no Audi can match. But hey, I'm glad you feel like a man driving around your overpriced VW Jetta, so more power to you.
  4. Very cool man, I like it a lot. Please do a character based one!
  5. Started off a flawed judgement by saying I don't know anything about cars is going to make you look like an ass, so you should avoid it in the future. 1.) Reliability and fuel eifficiency are two of the largest factors in winning Le Mans, individual handling characteristics (whiel still important) become substancially less important over a 24 hour time. Being able to run at peak performance and not break and not use more than the required amount of fuel is much more important. Which is why the Mazda 787B ended up doing so well, it wasn't the fastest but it was more reliable than it's V12 competitors and used less fuel. 2.) AWD was implemented in Porsche's because they're REAR ENGINED (that means the engine is in the rear). Rear engined cars suffer from dangerous handling, as they have the tendency to break traction in the middle of a turn and slingshot the car off the road. This is why cars don't use the rear engined configuration anymore (mid-engined is much safer). Porsche continues to use the rear engine layout because they're stubburn Germans bound ot tradition. The AWD was introduced to offset the danger of a rear engine car in the hands of a driver who didn't know what the hell they were doing, not because AWD is superior to RWD. Driving like an idiot on public roads isn't the best of ways to test the performance of your car. I'm glad you didn't kill anyone or yourself by spinnign out. I'm not saying AWD is poo (it isnt), but it isn't the BEST. With AWD you get a whole new set of problems, like putting a lot of power through an all wheel drive system and messing the transfer case. This was a problem with the DSMs, Subaru's have nasty reputations with their transmissions and given that the LanEvo uses basically the old DSM drive train, it will likely run into issues as well. Actually, scratch that, it already has: That much power, that sticky of tires and AWD means all the power and stress is put on the clutch. WHich is why a lot of my fellow auto-x'ers are having to replace the clutch on their new LanEvo's at around 15k. Damn, hadn't thought of that. I guess Agent One, BSU and I can go spend out $200,000 on HOOKERS and BLOW then.
  6. AWD? Sorry, I'm too stupid to knwo what AWD means. AWD is swell and all, but it does not equal superiority. It helps a bunch in cars like the WRX STi and Lan Evo because they're rally cars designed for off-road use, for actual track use RWD is still favored. First Skyline to have a GT-R badge was a 1970, before that the Skyline was a boring-as-nuts family sedan (and still is!). First Mustang came out in '64 or '65. So the point of your argument was.. er? Er, anyone who thinks that car is a "sleeper" needs to have their eyes examined. The spoiler, agressive bodykit and ride height kill any notion of it being a sleeper. "Sleepers" are supposed to be cars you wouldn't expect to be fast, not a freaking Skyline GT-R. For about $70k, I could get a new C6 Corvette Z06. And we're talking about the new R-Tune Type-Z whatever the hell, not the V-Spec... so i don't get your point. I'm not saying the Skyline is a bad car, I'm saying it's overrated (Horribly so) and this new version is over-priced.
  7. The Skyline is stupid overrated, in all versions. It's nothing the twin-turbo Supra isn't, but because it's only available in Japan it's JDM and OH SO COOL. I find them really, really boring and lacking in soul or creativity (like most Nissans). Not to mention when you go to Japan, and 99% of the Skylines you see are 4-door family sedans they kind of lose they're appeal. Edit: Not to mention for $200,000 there's a bunch of other car's I'd rather buy, like the Porsche GT2 or better yet... a C6 Z06 and use the rest of the money to buy a house.
  8. I don't think there's any heresy there, Eclipse's aren't exactly well known for being attractive. Or reliable. Or much fo anything, really, aside from the 1st gens being stupid easy to get cheap power out of. Best thing about the DSM's is that their drive train went into the far superior Lancer. EDIT: RE: The New Charger You guys hate on it for not being a "true" Charger (whatever that means), but the new Pontiac GTO is being lauded as an awesome car and it's a Holden Monaro coupe. Urk!?
  9. You're the only one close to trolling here, buddy. I would have expected better from a guy with insertcredit.com in his sig, guess not.
  10. But it's also a ridiculously over-stressed car that requires valve maintenance every few thousand miles, no thanks. Technically impressive, but an absolute pain in the ass to own. For the money I'd take a C6 Z06.
  11. Call me crazy, but I kind of like the new Charger. I dig the Dodge front grill (BMW and Alfa Romeo are the only companies nowadays who hold on to thier grill, and they're better for it... makes for good brand distinction) and the overall look of the car is unique without being ugly (a la a Pontiac) or just plain bring (a la Japanese sedans). Sure as hell wouldn't buy it, but I dig the look.
  12. Awesome, but, er, why'd this get moved to the Toys section?
  13. I just threw up in my mouth a little bit.. seriously, that car looks like a Honda Element on crack. Er, what? That car looks nothing like the Element. If anything, it looks like Nissan took the look of the Scion tC and threw on a bunch of Nissan-isms (the grill, ugly dashboard) and it looks like the stole the parking brake out of a Alfa Romeo Milano (a what!?). I just left a job working at a Nissan dealership, and while they're not bad cars to work on and are generally pretty damn reliable, they're pretty boring. Not as boring as Toyota, but still. I think right now Mazda is the only Japanese company that isn't boring as hell. As for the Z lineage being ruined by the the 350Z, it hasn't The Z lineage has been ruined by the 280Z and above. The 240Z was a cheap, reliable performance car that showed the world the Japanese could make a decent sports car. But later models got heavy, ugly and just ridiculous. Personally I don't mind the looks of the 350Z too much (performance isn' horrible, either) but the interior ergonomics suck. I will admit to liking the Sentra Spec V though. It's a good deal for what you get (LSD in a car like that is pretty impressive), and I wouldn't mind having one for a daily driver. Just a shame it's FWD,as it kind of kills the sporty nature of the car for me.
  14. Don't get so defensive, we weren't sitting around here bashing American cars. There are a number of members on Macross World who are big American car guys, it's just that no one has posted any stuff like that in this thread yet. If it bothers you so much that the only discussion is centered around Japanese and european cars, then post something about American muscle cars.... don't just complain about it. Er, and Chevrolet is not part of Ferrari. Chevrolet is part of GM, which owns a large part of FIAT, which in turn owns Ferrari.
  15. First off lemme say that I like all cars, I don't care if they're German, Italian, Japanese or American.. a cool car is a cool car. That said, American cars have more or less sucked the last 30 years. The Japanese (and Europeans too, in more expensive markets) made better cars. Once the muscle car era ended the American car market lost its luster. Nowadays there's no reason for a person to buy a Chevy or Ford sedan instead of a Japanese one, aside from brand loyalty. But I digress, as for performance cars the Americans are finally making cool cars again. Skipping over the 80's (less said about that, the better) and the rather boring 90's, the Chevy Z06, the Pontiac GTO and new Ford Mustang are showing that American's can produce a good car that can be competitive with any overseas manufacturer. The Chevy Z06 alone outshines just about any car, foreign or domestic, available for under $100k. But hell, the Japanese aren't exactly doing anything great either. With the death of the RX-7 and Supra in the late 90's, the Japanese perfomance car segment has been severly lacking. Really the only cool Japanese cars nowadays are the Lancer Evolution and Subaru STi, but both of those cars have their fair share of problems.
  16. Read the main site, it's obviously a joke. Pretty funny tho.
  17. That's ridiculous. But don't blame him, Mitsubishi's sell like crap so he's probably hungry. As much as I like the Evo, Mitsubishi has messed up enough to make it very unappealing to me. For one, the warranty is non-existant. It is an over-stressed car, and buying a new clutch at 16,000miles with my own money is a painful idea. Not to mention Mitsubishi is really, REALLY screwing over the legitimate racing crowd by searching SCCA web-results for autocrossers who drive a Mitsbushi and cancelling their "warranty." If I was going to buy a car like that, you damn well better believe I'd be racing it. Just driving an Evo on the street is a waste. Mitsubishi is in a tough place, they're losing money, they just had a BIG scandal over in Japan with their FUSO trucks and they're probably the worst all around of any Japanese car manufacturer. As great as the Evo is, until they improve the rest of their lineup (quality, build, styling) I wouldn't touch one.
  18. but... Mr O'Mara... you're caucasian... if us Asians had a "secret code" you wouldn't know what it is... Too true. My handful of asian ex-girlfriends wouldn't tell me either.
  19. The absurdity of this thread aside, as Head Ter Ter said asian girls are just girls. Treat them no different, there's no "secret code" needed to date them. I think the places would be the usual, bars, clubs, whatever. Just look for those things in areas with high asian populations.
  20. Megazone 23 was popular enough to warrant two sequels. Bubblegum Crisis was popular enough to get cancelled 5-episodes early.
  21. I downloaded a foreign vs JDM race from Best Motoring, and since then it left a really bitter taste in my mouth. The cars I believe were a turbo Porsche of some sort, a Skyline GT-R (yaaaawwwwwn), a few other random cars and a base model C5 Corvette. Just bullshit that one they'd put the C6 base up against a turbo Porsche and a Skylien GT-R instead of a Z06, but that's probably becaus the Z06 would have destroyed the JDM cars. And after all, we can't have people thinking Americans make a decent car.
  22. Ironic coming from a guy with a new Pontiac GTO in his avatar. As cool as exotic supercars are, the fact that I'll probably never have the dough to own one kind of kills my interest in them. My interest usually lies in more attainable near-super cars, like the C6 Z06. That Galpinized Mustang loosk pretty gross, the chrome bling-bling rims and cross-eyed lights don't so much for me.
  23. I'd say forget about the text, would be kind of distracting. Going to be posting any big-sized versions?
  24. The Critic, I think.
  25. I've heard you like guys with small hands... I see your preoccupation with homosexuality rearing its ugly head, but judging by your profile picture its not at all suprising. That's true, I heard Togo is all about the dudes.
