i would say Miun or Mikumo no? Bigumo hardly sounds effeminate at all in Japanese.. edit: btw her description says she is the vocalist for the walkure and that her personal life, life history etc are all shrouded in mystery lol. what's the point of a character description if you don't say anything in it? oh wait just looked at the thread closely, you already translated all that.- 2715 replies

i think it would've looked better if there were more stripes and the stripes were longer. Something like this:
-
I always saw the gills more as tiger stripes.

01's paint scheme looks great in that low light shot, but i don't like it very much in the poster.- 2715 replies

i definitely don't think it's a boy group vs a girl group thing. as stated many times the girl idols are not pilots, but are paired with valkyrie pilots. also, there's been nothing to suggest that the aerial knights are singers. some other random thoughts from watching the trailer 10+ times as others have said, this is definitely the main character valk pilot. it's a guy (at least i think) and it's definitely not one of the idol singers. what the heck are these things? everyone associated with the aerial knights has one. it's highly likely that the aerial knights and the wind kingdom are a new alien race(perhaps indigenous to this planet?), and perhaps having random diamonds at the ends of their hair is a distinguishing feature of their race. this is one of the "walkure"idols from the poster and i definitely get the feeling that these two make an idol/valk pilot pair. because he has an ozma vibe i get a cathy/misa vibe from her as well. she's def my favorite of the idols! perhaps their valk is the 01? definitely one of the valk pilots. the way we see her fight with the blue haired guy, perhaps the love triangle involves a girl pilot, guy pilot, and an idol, rather than two idols and a pilot? i wonder which idol she's paired with? the idol in the holographic screen and the person standing on the street are the same person. she probably changed her hair color to disguise herself so she wouldn't get mobbed by fans when walking down on the street, and happened to walk by a holographic billboard with herself on it. she's even got the same fishing lure hanging out of her hair. i bet she has nano implants allowing her to change her hair color with the switch of a button.- 2715 replies

The entire squadron has garish colors so i wouldn't keep your hopes up. I think the 31 would look great with a skull squad or other classic tomcat inspired scheme.

i don't wanna rain on everyone's parade but the color scheme doesn't work for me. too thunderbirds-like and not enough hi vis tomcat scheme-like. it looks great in the trailer but the toy doesn't do anything for me, especially the battroid.

NOOOOO NOOOOOOOOOOO i thought i was finally done. had all my dream valks and hated the paint schemes on the delta valks. YF-19???? SCREW YOU BANDAI AND ARCADIA FOR TAKING ALL MY MONYES I WILL NOT BUY ANOTHER YF-19 UNLESS THEY DO SOMETHING CRAZY LIKE ADD THE ARM CANNON. they wouldn't dare do that.. would they?

NOOOO NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO I SAID I WAS DONE. I HAVE NO SPACE FOR A 1/1800 MACROSS. BUT I WANT IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

In case anyone's interested just thought i'd mention that the cherry blossom/mount fuji scheme was to commemorate the 50th anniversary of japan's air self defense force. I'm thinking the other two schemes were for that as well.

nice sarcasm! i'm the biggest 19 fan out there but i'm not getting no ver3. i think i like the arcadia sculpt better but i don't think one's really that overwhelmingly better than the other. looking at the fighter pics the canards do look too flat on the bandai, but the droopy nose on the arcadia does look weird in side profile. perhaps if the nose landing gear was longer the droop wouldn't bother me so much. also, as has been noted by many the fat lip on the leading intake edge and the exposed knees with black covers is a complete eye sore on the arcadia. as far as battroid i thought i preferred the bigger, rounder intakes, fatter legs, and larger shoulders on the arcadia but seeing them side to side like that, i'm starting to like the smaller shoulders on the bandai more. as far as the legs, i think the perfect sculpt would be somewhere in between the beefy legs of the arcadia and skinnier legs of the bandai. the overly pointy, triangular shape of the intakes on the bandai does remind me too much of the old yamato 1/60 though. of course, getting the ankles pulled out at just the right amount helps a lot.
-
Wow as of now the poll is literally dead even! I'd love to hear Graham's perspective on this!
-
Sculpt: arcadia (beefier legs, no gaps in fighter, but the holes in the back of the legs in battroid are a downside) Ease of transformation: arcadia articulation: bandai Colors, finish, tampo and detail: bandai Accesories: bandai (my personal preference is for the pin point barrier punch and advance packs over the under wing weapons) Price: bandai Overall winner: bandai As frustrated as i get transforming this thing to fighter with the fps, and all the other downsides, i have to give this one to the bandai. I don't even know what it is but i always wanna pick it up over the arcadia. Something about the combination of better posability, nicer finish and details, not having bum ankles, choosing between gunpod and pin point barrier punch is what i think makes me want to pick this one up time and time again over the arcadia even though the transformation back to fighter can be maddening. And the extra $$ i paid for the arcadia over the bandai make this a bitter pill to swallow.
-
yes i am curious to know your guys' thoughts as well. please post your thoughts in the arcadia yf-19 thread. even though i like the arcadia sculpt in battroid better and the transformation is easier on the arcadia, i find myself transforming and posing the bandai and not the arcadia, every single time! before this, we didn't have a direct comparison of the same exact valk so it's interesting to hear everyone's thoughts on comparisons and pros and cons.
-
that's the vf-x ravens scheme.
-
i was under the impression that it was in-universe official that these are VF-25 boosters stuck on a VF-19.
-
yeah that looks nice. the head does look too bare without the arrows. well, it doesn't show in the anime but they were visible on every single YF-19 toy including the arcadia and all the yamatos so i think it's unavoidable. there's really no way to hide the arrows the way they are hidden in the anime in fighter mode.

curious, what does this one look like with super parts? anyone have a screen shot from the game?

yeah they literally didn't bother to add any hole for those tabs to go with the fast packs. Aside from the difficulty of getting the leg bits in it is my main gripe with this valk. Still happy with it overall though.Edit: wow actar that method has literally never worked for me. Might be that i'm not retracting the shoulder flap all the way.
-
so i finally successfully transformed it to fighter with the fast packs and rear leg bits on. this is how i felt during the process: after fiddling with the loose leg bits for over an hour i finally got it to work, and there IS a trick to it to make it easier. first, as jenius said, definitely make sure the vulcan guns are slid in the forward position, as they easily get out of place. make sure the arm angle is right. the grey part of the arms should be angled a little down rather than going straight back. now, the trick to transforming to fighter with the leg bits still in 1. make sure the tan inner shoulder flap is not in the highest or lowest position, but maybe 2mm below the highest position. the shoulder flap is what gets in the way of the leg bit and keeps knocking it out, it has to be at the exactly right position for the leg bit to stay in. 2. make sure that the shoulder armor and leg are slid back before you attempt to attach the leg with the shoulder fast pack. then, attach the shoulder fast pack to the back of the leg. once the shoulder armor, shoulder fast pack, and leg are locked together, you can then slide both the leg and shoulder armor to the front. sliding it to the front will usually make the shoulder and leg automatically lock into place with the bottom tab of the leg fitting in to the central fuselage automatically. after that you can secure the wing glove into the leg fast pack and you're done. i personally haven't had problems with gaps once i have followed these steps, except for the wing root tab coming loose from the leg fast pack every so often.
