Macross Δ (Delta) - Mission 18 - READ 1st POST

As Reina would say: "Now you must die." heh heh, but that's exactly the tongue and cheek reason why Bogue is casted as the unsung hero.... because of all the idiots in Delta, he appears to be one of the few with an ounce of tactical sense. The other way to look at Bogue is that his behavior indicates that he has never been with a woman before, and hence his constant over reaction to the Walkure, you can almost peg him as some kind of fanatic who believes a woman's place is in the home, preferably the kitchen, and he doesn't know what to make of a woman outside of that. This is also of course tongue and cheek, since his reaction is likely focused just on the Walkure. -

I agree, there is a lack of focus; because let's face it; Freyja/Hayate is interesting Walkure as a band is interesting The history of Windermere war is interesting The mystery of Mikumo is interesting But they should've focused on just one thing, I for one would vote Delta to be a story about Bogue, the unsung hero of the AK; the much maligned and unappreciated member of a so called elite organization. Speaking of elite organization, I'd like to see the evil twins get command of a squadron of Drakkens all painted red, and they should be called the "Guardsman". -
I for one like my Bumblebee to be a vintage VW bug with the associated pollution you'd expect from that brand of car. And of course, Megatron needs to be a regular gun. They need to perfect shrinking tech, after all if the Allspark can go from the side of a mountain to a size of a large rubriks cube, Megatron can go from a 50 ft robot to a small hand gun

Is it too much to hope at this point for a massive (read not one sided) fleet battle over Windermere at the series conclusion? I for one would like to see those derivative Windermere ships in action against NUNS ships with the fighters playing a supporting role. I know, I should just watch Yamato 2202 instead. -

I think we're past the 24 hours for spoilers right? I am completely certain Mikumo cannot die... not her or any of the Walkure... because they need to promote Junna and the rest of the members of Walkure, can't really do that if Rei Rei gets offed by Bogue, or Mikumo drops dead from culture shock, or Freyja from age. The rule of thumb in Macross is that songstress cannot die. Especially if they were found as a part of a contest. As for the mech action this episode, it was really kind of lacking and disjointed. Don't get me wrong, I appreciate the fighter combat, and battroid mode, whoa, mind blown. But honestly, there was no choreograph here, the entire sequence can be boiled down to Hayate fights Bogue, Hayate fights Keith.... neither for very long, and Hayate crashes. That's literally just it. I surely hope that next episode is a continuation of this one, but really expect everyone to be back on the Elysion, because you know, Roid would have ordered the retreat off screen. Never mind that it'll be 6 AKs vs 3 Delta, and the two lead Walkure are incapacitated. Hint, let Bogue go wild, he can wipe out all of Walkure in two seconds... the evil twin brothers, and the guy who'll show no mercy in the skies will just have to keep the other three Deltas busy for literally 30 seconds. The problem with this entire show is the lack of continuity, I remember when Mikhail kicked the bucket, the next episode continued on with Klan going all Ex-gear using a VF-25 super pack on the Vajra, and blowing up one of the island clusters. That is continuity, here we'll be lucky if we get an explanation of what happened last episode. Super fold gate... blah blah... not sure I even care much at this point. At this point, I'll be satisfied with Freyja's creepy laugh and some dead red shirts on Windermere side... not NUNS, because we've already seen plenty of dead red shirts from the NUNS side. -

you know, it finally occurred to me why Heinz will ultimately lose. It's because he has no rhythm or depth. In fact, his entire musical teaching is boiled down to a single song, no wonder people go mad after listening to it for a while. It's like listening to Jingle Bell all day every day through all of Christmas. You can imagine it... "Heinz, let's sing a Christmas song." "Ok, I know the right song to sing" Heinz starts singing. "No, no, not Jingle Bells again, don't you know any other song?" "No, I can't, it's the only song I've ever been taught." After a while, everyone start hating Christmas because they just associate it with Heinz singing Jingle Bell. -

Bogue good... it's all about the point of view, it's the rest of the Aerial knights that need to die. Only Bogue deserves to survive. He is still the only one on the Windermere side with a lick of common sense. Kill the Walkure, win the war. In this episode, even Keith is starting to come around to that point of view, although, really, Keith, you're like 18 episodes too late. Say it with me, Bogue is good. You just have to appreciate Bogue for his bogueness. ha ha -

In defense of Bogue; I think Bogue is once again being maligned. Sure, he goes over the top regularly while trying to whack the Walkure. But that's just his enthusiasm showing. It's a shame that the aerial knights are all about individuals and not teamwork. Look what happened to poor Bogue when he tried to play up Keith's victory, he gets threatened by the guy. Keith should have been reported to HR for that of if it wasn't for the stink of nepotism within the kingdom of Wind. And you have to admit, Bogue's target make the most sense, no Walkure means automatic Windermere victory. It's too bad Keith is the leader, and is too busy looking for the next Shinigami. If he just helped Bogue with a little teamwork; the Walkure would be dead. In fact, the only AK who ever tried to help Bogue were the evil twin brothers, and let's face it, they are just red shirts waiting for Arad and Mirage to put them down. I think eventually Bogue will be recognized for the brilliant and inspires leader that he is, well, actually, he will probably get recognized long after he converts to the head of the Walkure fan club and after he kicks the bucket. Someone ought to start a Bogue fan club, although that's likely to be a club of one. -

Walkure do get involved in combat, whether they like it or not, if you think about the number of times they are on the battle field singing, they are in fact tactical weapons, they do two things, innoculate the pilots on one side, and attempt to cure the Var out of opposing pilots. However, they make extensive use of holograms in many of those combat situation, so the "fan service" could be a potential point of distraction for combatants. The only thing that is potentially troubling is that it could distract the pilots on their side if not properly directed. Think about it, it would be a fun little weapon if there is a projector mounted on the Valks... which hey, there already are. And distraction at that level could be deadly, there are two dozen micro missiles coming at you, and all of a sudden, a giant fan service Makina flashes in your eyes... if that's not a distraction, even momentarily, then you're not a biological. It's just that moment where you might get killed. -

I disagree, it is not fan service, it is distraction, look at what it does to Bogue, if Mikumo show some skin or Makina show a little boobs, Bogue will totally forget himself for a second. Think about it, you're a jet jockey knifing through the sky, suddenly a giant hologram of a half naked hologram of some girl shows up, odds are, you are going to get distracted for a sec.. just enough to make a critical difference in combat. -
The movie was disappointing for all of the reasons others have said. It felt like I was watching the Batgirl movie. It was very badly disjointed for the most part. I think they could have had more to go on, he'll, you barely even see Bruce Wayne. They to show Batman had a human side, that he saw how he and the Joker was going to end up, but the mask just made it less human. I would go so far as to say that Affleck did a better job compared to the Timm portrayal. Under the Hood was so much better.

You know, I have been thinking, there are at least a few good points in this episode. We got the background of Hayate's dad and at least something of the MDE out into the story, that's good, we also got a better look at the Windermere carrier hybrid... The FAT quarter, and best of all, lots of Drakkens. Do you know what this means.... Lots of nooks and redshirts for Mirage, Hayate and even Chuck to go all ace on in the next few episodes. We can get some good new animation to reuse and may be sees a little less of the reused Bogue animation. If we can only get some decent space ship action, seeing the Aether shooting down some redshirt Drakkens would be nice, give them a chance to put all their AA to good use -

they could always make Macross like House of Cards, do the entire series, and then release it on Netflix. I wouldn't mindd binge watching. I get the feeling that may be this way, parts of it wouldn't be so disappointing, especially with how this series has been paced. I also tend to think that the writers could take a lesson from the original SDF:M since they seem to be able to do a good protrayal of both sides. One could certain not say that they didn't know the Zentradis well at the end of the series. Granted, SDF:M had more time, but by episode 17, we already had a very good background on the Zentradi... Windermeres are still more like Vajra at this point, nothing more than a big boggy man from down the block. -

Thanks for putting this up, I've dubbed this unit, the Fat Quarter. I mean literally, this is a Quarter style ship without the legs, and it's well, kind of fat. Like the Quarter and the Dulfim had an illegitimate child that no one wanted to talk about, and they quietly shuffled it off to the Windermeres as a cast off. I for one would like to see this ship in action, and getting blown up. The odd thing is, if you look at that image, you notice quite a few Deneb variants around, no way to easily compare size, but this is apparently a carrier/gunship combo, and I wonder if the Deneb variant are basically escorts. This is one thing that the Macross series of late has lacked, not as much ship to ship combat, especially true once you strip away the fights using the Quarters. The funny thing about the series is that Reina could be potentially the most dangerous member of Walkure, or even the entire Elysion crew. It's the quiet ones you have to watch out for. I wonder if they could hack in some convenient self destruct codes to the Drakkens and their motherships. (won't do diddly squat against the SV, but who cares, once you take away all of its support units, the SV is nothing more than a glorified one shot terror weapon) -

I will settle for a couple of redshirts every other episode at this point. Because as of right now these guys are essentially untouchable -

Amen to that... This may sound horrible, but I can actually live without as much mecha, especially since we have a lot of reused animation anyway. In fact, I think less mecha action would actually make seeing the VFs in combat more exciting. The story part of Delta is actually a little lacking, it feels like we skip from episode to episode, and a little like playing with the flavor of the day. I actually think these characters are all very interesting, but they all have to fight for screen time. Let's see, I like the Walkure... all of them. I like at least 60% of Delta squad... don't care much for Chuck, and Arad, and not so much for Ernie. Roid has such potential for an interesting character, but not so sure about the AKs. I think we can live with generic mooks there almost, may be with one ace. -

About the Triangle... I just listened to the podcast... funny... there is nothing wrong with a threesome, because eventually Freyja would kick the bucket, and Haya-Haya can get together with Mirage, and everything would be normal -

Bah, they brought along enough uminekos, as long as they have sufficient flour and a proper breeding program, food should not be an issue. 😈
