You poor poor thing, may be it is time for that cynaide? No one should have to suffer like that -
Among so many other things the writing team forgot about. For example, compelling story telling, hell, how about just a story that doesn't drag.

Ok, there is that too... but hey, even I can learn to like J-pop -
I wonder what a good story for such a show would be though. I somehow doubt kawamori should go back to that well, since he might screw up essentially the first family of the Macrossverse. A reasonable format could be an OVA like the Char origin story. First, focus on Max and Milia post Megaroad departure; may be have a final farewell with Hikaru. Second, a transition story, Max and Milia leaving Earth with Mylene, and where some of their children goes. The eldest would certainly be a good pilot. Third, a focus on the story of the oldest and may be interaction with a couple of sisters. Fourth, may be something to do with Mylene crossing over with her sister Emilia? Fifth, focus on Miranda, Jenius air (hopefully with the twins) and the birth of the disappointment; yes, Mirage. Then something else. Each of these stand alones could have some common thread of evil UN and then NUNS conspirator; spanning through the series. Finally ending with a reunion of the Jenius family and finishing the threat, old school style, no singing, except may be Mylene and Emilia. Just a random thought

I have to say that I like the music from Delta, but that's about the only thing. During the last set of 13 episodes, not much in the way of new songs either. Fanboy is right though that the music in Frontier has more impact because it is combined with more effective visuals. -

But I'll bet you'd watch 26 episodes of Valks duking it out vs the 10+ episode equivalent we got of meandering storylines and point less scissoring. If you took away the irrelevant aspects I mentioned, or may be most of them, there is still more than enough material for a decent story line. They just had to expand and foucs on those parts. -
I think in terms of the Macross universe, the Jenius has had a pretty outsized impact. They probably tarnished the name with Delta. But that level of familiarity certainly can't hurt. There is also no need at all to make an actual Jenius the central character. You could think of it as a story revolving around Jenius Air, with one of the Jenius family acting as an important side character. Think Armuro in Zeta Gundam, or even Max/Milia in Mac7. I think it would be a cool concept, and I'd argue that in Macross lore, the Jeniuses have started to become the first family of the story. It would be natural to have a focus more on aircraft than singing. Macross has always included singing, but in shows like Zero, and I would argue even Plus, singing was not absolutely central to the theme.

I remember that scene, it was great. One amongest the few great fight scenes in Plus. My only complaint is: "where the hell are the scissors????" One question, I don't know Japanese at all, but did Mirage really say: "I will not overthink my flying?" right after the three way love fest in fold space? That is just so awful; it would have been better in writing if she said nothing at all. Oh, forgot, that happened a little with the Ghost. -
So, the one redeeming thing I found about the last episode was Jenius Air... in that Mirage flashback, that was evidently a thing. I personally would not mind seeing an OVA about Jenius Air. May be it's a flight school, may be it's a test center for Valks, or a private company started by the Jeniuses. So much was made about Max and Milia's test flight days (not sure how canon those sources are), but a good story line around that might be very worth while. After all, there are let's see, six other sisters that needed more exposure anyway. I don't think this has to be a love triangle story, just like Gundam shouldn't always be about antsy childhoods. There should probably be singing, but it could be on background... they could do quite a few things with different Valks. Hell, you could do a set of narratives with members of the family each talking about past experiences at Jenius Air with Valks and that could be interesting. Just a random thought

just commenting on this... there were a lot of unneeded things, lady M (irrelevant), creepy NUNS guys (irrelevant), evil twin brothers (irrelevant), Master Hermann Munster (irrelevant), Chuck (irrelevant), Chuck's family... did anyone ever see them again after the birthday ep (irrelevant), Marianne (irrelevant), Windermere fleet (irrelevant), Windermere mooks (irrelevant, they could've all been just Lil' Drakkens), NUNS local forces (irrelevant), Cat daddy (irrelevant), seacat (cute in the beginning, but rendered irrelevant to the series as a whole post Ragna), Ernie Johnson and the bridge crew (about as relevant as the Perry twins in Frontier), Elysion (irrelevant, I know Macross Quarter, and Elysion, you ain't no Macross Quarter) Worst of all, those crappy Windermere songs that I have dubbed Jingle Bells and Silent Night... totally irrelevant. -
I agree with the sentiment on Megaroad-1; if they ever do it, it would be nice to have a mix of new and old characters, I think Mac7 did a reasonable job on the mix. You always knew the story was around Mylene, Basara, etc, not Max and Milia, but those two had important contributions. They need to do something along the lines of Zeta Gundam to get a nice balance of characters. They don't have to have new mechs, let's face it, I for one would be happy to see VF-1s and VF-4s. I don't need a brand new line of fighters, just a great story.

I think they'll have enough variation on toys. There are 5xVF-31 types, and depending on paint jobs, may be six or seven. Three types of Draken counting what we saw today. They may release another VF-171; Some FAST pack variations. There will inevitably be a Koeing, two possibly, given one was a Walkure shuttle. I wouldn't rule out an Elysion. There will certainly be a PS4 game or two based on this. Oh, there should be a good market for Walkure dolls. Makina should sell like hot cakes. Then there is the Walkure tour, personally, I thought the music was not too bad. I'm still miffed no Ikenai borderline on the last episode, but you take what you get. If Junna play it smart, she could ride the songs like May'n did, although May'n had a stronger show to work from, not to mention a much more sympathetic character, Junna is based off a three year old essentially.

Yeah, no disagreement on the most part, but let's face it, no one episode could fix this trainwreck of a show. But this episode was probably better than most of the rest of the second half. In terms of music, like I said, not Ikenai Borderline just killed it for me. The last time they did that song was ep 13. It was probably the best song out of the series. No music montage is a little disappointing. -

Yes, I know Cassim's died, I am just being sarcastic about the fact that they reused animation again and just shopped out Cassim. -

My thoughts on the episode. In terms of mech action, it's not too bad, and not even a single scissor in this episode. They blow through the space defenses in a minute or so... yes, it seems like most of Windermere military is just incompetent. It was a very good set of action sequence though. Down on the planet, there was hardly any real fighting before we went all "Klaatu Barada Nikto" Then on with the rest of the story. I still thought there was way too much talk in this episode compared to actual fighting. Contrast this with Frontier, I think ep 25 of Frontier outdoes the ending for Delta by leaps and bounds, both in terms of mech action and combat. As far as the character is concerned, poor Mirage. But the ending is a twist, Freyja winning is a different thing from the other series. That marks this as a stand out. Very interesting. It gives us a resolution, albeit, not a great one since we know what'll happen to Freyja in 15 years.... But hey, everyone dies eventually right. A couple of funny things: 1. Bogue's change of mind. I guess in a way, that was developing over time... but nice to see a resolution there. May be he won't be death to Walkure afterwards 2. So, isn't it a major animation error that with the naked AKs, they forgot Cassim? ha ha ha ha. On a stand alone basis, I'll give this episode a thumbs up. The songs in the end was not that great, I was hoping for Ikenai Borderline one more time, but no such luck. Over Disappointments in the ending: - Chuck lived - Herman lived - Marianne lived - Bogue was not made head of AK - Ketchup boy lived - No Berger Highlights: -Umineko lived, still opportunity to turn him into umineko-man Somewhere in the Pantheon of Macross villians, Roid shows up, and says: I'm here, and I almost conquered the galaxy, I'm just like Grace O'Connor. Then Kamjin steps up... "I know Grace O'Connor, Roid whateveryourlastnameis, you're no Grace O'Connor." One last thought, it was ironic that Mikumo was no longer in bondage, but her singing put everyone else in so called bondage. I wonder what is with this bondage fetish with the writers. -

What the..... Is that it? Did SV die? did Elysion even show up? Sword??? Not a Beamsaber I hope. Well at least there can have three versions of Drakens. Aqua, blue, and white.... Six if you have ones with and without pack. Merchandizing rules.... -

for the movie, I suggest a flashback show... mostly narrated by Berger with occasional mech action, with gratuitous amounts of scissoring in fighter mode. I think they have enough footage to pull that off, and if not, a few judicious application of images on the background could work. To make it an interesting twist, I would follow what someone else on the board has said, it would start with a 2 years later thing... Then we can reuse a lot of the footage, for example, the Elysion could fire its main cannon again, except in space, just change the back ground from episode 13. And we know the SV footage can be shopped with lots of Windermere throwaway around it using different angles. Just throw out some additional conspiracy theories, and we're done. Hey, I think I should direct this movie, I already have the basic idea down, and it'll cost very little for Big West. Quick, I need to open a poll on survey monkey, everyone here should vote for me, and we can petition Big West. -

Macross Delta Episode 26 Theories And Wishes
kalvasflam replied to MisaForever's topic in Movies and TV Series
- Elysion and SV arrives at Ragna at the same time - Ketchup boy gets betrayed by whatever bizarre ploy Roid has in mind and dies, while the windmerean fleet realized Roid is evil, but dies a pointless death anyway - Some minor bit of mecha action (with lots and lots of scissors, to save on animation cost) - Keith fights with Hayate, but still no conclusion, seeing as his boyfriend betrayed everything, he teams up with Hayate, but neither can get to Roid w/bondage Mikumo in tow - Mikumo sings "Silent Night", Walkure counters... - Bogue can't make up his mind and still tries to kill the Walkure, but finally sees the light and defends the Walkure against an incoming SV attack. - Freyja sings and snaps Mikumo out of the Klattu Barada Nikto trance... But increases her age until she dies. - Bogue is the big hero, he collaborates with Chuck (who sacrifices himself, Kakizaki moment) and saves Mikumo - No more Mikumo means Roid is vulnerable, Hayate and Keith collaborate and kills Roid. - More exposition by Berger or someone for the last three minutes of the show to get the show wrapped up, ending with Keith recognizing he has no right to the throne because of his blindness, the true genius of AK was always Bogue. - Bogue is the new king of Windermere, everyone is happy with a final Walkure concert to say bye bye to Freyja. The end. -

You know the one thing I'm wondering about on Mikumo's side is who exactly is her overwatch in Chaos. She is literally three years old, and potentially a WMD, and to say that no one in CHAOS looked after her, to make sure she is functioning as expected, and not going off the rails crazy. So weird... anyway I hope they don't resort to bringing in any of the original cast at this point, or from any other show, it would just be so pointless. If they did that, they could've done this like in episode 15 or 16. MMMMM burgers and bullet sponges... too bad it wasn't an armor piercing incendiary round. -

Well, the long and short of it, if they hired you, or I supposed any of a dozen of us on the board as writers, they couldn't have come off so badly as they did. The pacing, the story, the consistency, all of it felt like it was done by some writer on drugs, or a very drunk monkey hitting a keyboard at random I suppose with this series about to end, I can safely go back to lurk mode until another ten years have passed. By then, I would've forgotten all about Delta.
