  1. Boeing has a tradition for military aircraft that started from WWII. Granted, most of its aircraft were bombers, Boeing knew what it was to build warplanes before the purchase of McD. (not McDonalds) It isn't a hard conceptual leap to go from bombers to fighters. Airbus on the other hand was formed from civilian companies. While I think it has some experience on the Typhoon, it's track record, especially with the A400M should make anyone worry. That puff piece Airbus put out is nothing more than a fancy powerpoint. Sensor fusion is absolutely marvelous as long as it isn't vulnerable to some form of interference, consider the F-35, it is great if it can be hack proof, but considering how critical it is when acting as a fusion node, if that plane's system gets hacked, the entire system gets compromised, including all the shooters.
  2. Nah, Thanos doesn't look too bad. There is nothing that would make him worse than that purple sourpuss Apocalypse from the last X-men movie. They got his look from the comic more or less correct. And the guy is already in possession of two of the stones in that one scene, so he must have just waltzed over to Zander to pick up the power gem. Loki gives him the space gem. He need to pay Benecio Del Torro a visit to get the reality gem, but luckily the time and mind stones are on Earth at the moment.
  3. Let me just pipe up with a stupid question, why would anyone ever buy a fighter from a company called Airbus. You might as well buy sexy from a company called pile of crap. Seriously, given Airbus's trouble with the A400M, does anyone realistically want that particular company to do a new fighter? I think they missed a line item in their bullet points at the end. HACKED.
  4. I read this, and my reaction goes something like this; Gatlantis' plan seem to be utterly insane. Just use the frigging ships to overwhelm the target already. And as far as all the reaction from certain people to Starsha, I'm going to assume that at some point someone from Earth is just going to say: "Dear Starsha, please enjoy the Protection from Earth and leave us alone... oh, the protection is dead, well, just imagine he's around and enjoy yourself. And stop giving us ideas on what to do with wave motion energy."
  5. Ok, so, it might be just me, but Luke seem to be a bit of a dick. Not sure if he is a good teacher at all, because the monologue makes him seem quite jaded. I like how they are turning the heroes of ep IV to VI on their heads. No exactly a happy ending. But then, it would make sense if SW were to go on.
  6. This is so weird, Gatlantis could have literally overrun the EDF with that fleet, it drouoesn't matter if there are a dozen Andromedas. They could bum rush the planet by warping in, this is just so strange, Gamilas would be doomed too, this just doesn't make any sense at all. I am looking forward to the explanation.
  7. Hmmm, that was fast, the so called dreadnaughts went from a one off special to a fleet of bjillions in the span of a few episodes. Methinks that these guys need to dial it in with a little more realism. Hmmm, is Deslar back already, because the bowing and the attack on the Yamato would seem to indicate that. I really hope they don't over do Gatlantis as a military power, because the Gamlias was considered an equal just three years earlier, but if we do a relative comparison, all of a sudden Gamilas appear to be far weaker, especially with a ten million Kalaklums coming out of nowhere. I agree they can't end it like the movie, but they can and should kill Hijikata and Saito, Yamamoto might have to die as well, in fact, even in the series, a majority of the fighter pilots kicked the bucket.
  8. no kidding, it looks like Yamamoto is holding up the upper half of that mech.
  9. I thought they gave up on the B-1R. They'd be better off using F-15s... cause they can still make those at least, I can't remember when was the last time they built a B-1.
  10. Probably need more missile/bomb trucks. If the F-35 is supposed to be a sensor and command node, then you need some trucks to deliver to munitions. Lots of F-18s and F-15s carrying AMRAAMs and stuff, it's too bad the F-35 and F-18s don't quite have the legs of their predecessors.
  11. Wait, is Cameron in money trouble or something? Need to dip back into the well?
  12. Just curious, what's Macross - 29? Never heard of them before...
  13. Or that most of the warships on both sides were simply brushed aside like an afterthought or a redshirt in the few minutes of "fleet" actions that we saw. And I thought the Protoculture ship was rather underwhelming all things considered. I wonder why there are even volunteers for those types of ships any more, and why all of them aren't just automated carriers loaded with Ghosts. (I guess that must be the local version of a jobs program) Must be some excellent benefits associated with being a crew member on any UN Spacy ship that isn't a Macross class... although I bet there isn't a life insurance policy, since that would be too expensive.
  14. Odd, it'll be South Korean SU-57 vs North Korean SU-whatever... As for the name, I propose Fricassee Rabbit (what can I say, "Rabbit Season, Duck Season" suddenly popped into my head)
  15. I liked it better when it was a Super Dimensional Fortress, if we take the standard Frontier model, it's about 15 km long before the smaller island chains... that length should be at least doubled. 30 km should be the minimum size of an SDF.
  16. I'm not sure I would necessarily call Macross mainstream, until this recent iteration, they've taken the approach of less is more, and so the long period between Frontier and Delta. Of course, if they put out a shitty product, then they have to go with quantity. I don't pretend to know what mainstream in Japan really is, if I had to guess, Gundam with their every year must have a new season mentality could be considered mainstream. And they do have some quality shows. For example, even though the one year war has been done to death, they still manage to come up with some good stuff like MS IGLOO, even if a lot of it was retconning the original.
  17. heh heh, yeah, if that was the case, you'd have clearly missed the Bobby Ewing shocker. I agree with the Delta comments, while the first dozen episodes were ok, even then you could clearly see how lazy they were about the action, most of it was generic contrails scissoring in the sky. So, in this case a plot device to erase the mistake of the Delta series is not a bad necessarily a bad thing. That'll happen the same day Amuro wakes up in his class and realize that the entire UC was a horrible dream sequence.
  18. I'm sure it had to do with ratings.... OMG, the ratings suck, quick do something dramatic like bringing back a dead character and retcon the whole thing out of existence.
  19. Man, I thought those guys were doing mechanical checks on the Gripen's transformation sequence.
  20. I am clearly dating myself here... any kid who was around for the 80s and had parents who watched campy soap opera knows Dallas, and the whole season was a dream sequence... and it ends in a shower scene. heh heh. That's ok, you young uns....
  21. would be hilarious if Kaname dies, and Messer lives. Or better yet, after episode 9, it was all a dream sequence, a la Bobby Ewing. Mirage wakes up, walks to the shower, and there is Hayate... wait, that didn't make sense.
  22. Well, technically, Quicksilver died, so I wouldn't put it past them. I figure it would be ok for one or two character death, Vision is an easy one to kill off because he can be rebuilt, it would be ballsy if they killed off Cap or Stark. But it would be interesting.
  23. Well, let's face it, Hollywood loves glorifying violence, that's how these people earn big bucks, cause violence and sex (porn) sells. But these megastars can't do porn, the market is too flooded. So violence is a better alternative, after all, there just aren't that many movies that can turn around and bring in the megabucks like guys putting buckets of bullets into other people. The core belief of all these celebs is money, if you give them a choice between money and their morals, there is no contest. Having said that, the movie looks pretty good. And Charlize has to earn a living, she is past her 30s right? Wasn't there a barrier to actresses going past a certain age, they are no longer that interesting to Hollywood except as the bad guy (Hello, Meryl steep)
