Bolt’s Blt comp entry#1 Neo Grade VF1 Armored Valkyrie
Bolt replied to Bolt's topic in The Workshop!
Rainy day here in Cali. Had some time to kill, so.. Hinges! Gotta cut these little buggers off the sprews carefully. I DO NOT want to loose these , break them, over trim them or fubar them in any way! Test fitting them, they fit good but loose..I glue in the pegged piece and, once it’s dried, add a thin coat of glue to the pegs so the female end will fit tighter.. I’ll clean these up while I’m waiting for glue to dry.. All cleaned up and test fitting booby missiles. COMPLETELY off topic.. my son doing his first (all by himself) HG Gundam Kit. While I work on my resin ki. Is it weird my 6 year old prefers Macross to RT? Amd now glue dried and trimmed to fit tight. Then test fit everything for final inspection! Missile bay doors stay open all by themselves! And close too! who wouldn’t want functional missile bay doors? See you next Deculture! -
That would be Bandai IMO. Unless Arcadia pulls a rabbit out of the hat..

Lol. Next time you see those in the discount bin, grab all of them for me Didn’t know any corporate toy stores carried these..
-
That’s so funny to me. I was the opposite, didn’t care for the speakers at all, but love the fold booster..
-
Lol. My wallet isn’t big enough either! Here’s a question. Considering how awfully terrible the VF-2SS did in the NHK ultimate Macross poll (didn’t even rank in the top 50!). How much of a shelf warmer has the HMR VF-2SS been? From way over here, it seems to have been well received..
-
Just a follow up thought here.. WOW!! No love for M2! Adriann was right, it’s rigged Ishtar ranked 40 by tv series (out of 50) . And the VF-2SS didn’t even rank in the top 50?! Ouch..! which is quite interesting, considered Bandai went for it and did the VF-2SS in the HMR line up..
-
That would be sweet! And the experimental arm canon too! (And , of course, the pin point barrier punch effects..)
-
Nice job on the panel lines!
-
If the NHK Full Macross survey is anything to go by, we should be seeing a YF-19 eventually..

She’s a beauty

Thanks. IF I have to, I’ll try to print my own. Just hoping someone else has already gone through this and would be willing to ,at least, sell me some of these at scale..

Trimmed the back piece..glued vertical stabilizers on and some more test fitting..the side thrusters fit much better now.. Again, the speed brakes(one test fitted proper side out) will need a little sanding but this one fits perfect out of the baggie.

Literally I don’t have any takers on the “let’s trade leg pieces “ thread , so.. Here’s Hikaru’s ride. Has problems, let’s get into it.. I first carefully cut off the tabs and drilled them out with a sharp knife for pins. Mirror imaged the parts for precise location of pegs on the “correct “ side. Used a little dab of glue on the proper piece pegs to mark the side I’m drilling for pins. Clean glue off proper piece pegs with one swipe, and then Ye, ole paper clip.. I Cut off the pins to length and test fit into leg piece. It’s nice and tight, that’s why I like the tapered cut of an exacto style blade. It’s tight where the pin goes thru the other side, but cuts a little more room near the base for the glue to fill in.. Then glue it and screw it...back together (After the excess glue has been wiped and dried .. ) Oh, and do notice the prominent “L” stamped on the inside piece.. Now a test fit..ah, you can tell they’re both lefts by the small recessed rectangular panel in the lower right corner of each piece.. Oh well, it’ll do.. The hacked piece will need a little wet sanding and some touch up paint.. But, as can be seen, fits quite nice and is snug.. And comes off in one piece.. Hikaru is back on flight duty! Thanks for watching. See you next Deculture!

I love the smell of old resin off gassing. Smells like Victory I feel blessed to be working on such a nice and highly (2 of them!) detailed resin model! Here I’m feeling like using the Hasegawa super and strike parts on the resin boosters. I like the chunky uppers and it furthers my customizing fetish -

It’s quite a stylized version, indeed.. As much as it’s not line art accurate, I really like the liberties taken with the design. It’s much more realistic, IMO, the original design is so chunky, a VF wouldn’t be able to walk Dont get me wrong, I’ll always love the original. Just sayin -
