Yamato 1/60 VF-19 Fire Valkyrie
1/1 LowViz Lurker replied to UN Spacy's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
I like this thing but I am able to resist it. Now that its done, hopefullly yamato gives us a good blazer valk. The reason I am happy that this is done first is if there are any classic yamato qc issues for first release, they will probably be on the basara clown type. lol. You rich people make me sick. Show some resistence to the valk addiction for once in your lives.. Oh and since bandai have the mac f range of variable fighters all to themselves I think it's time they considered doing the valks from other shows like macross II: Show us something new other than re-releases of VF-1 for chrissakes. -
I'd love to see the lego monster in youtube vid with the whole thing being transformed in front of the camera. Konig Monster and the variable glaug are my fave designs. It would be cool if a side story was done where a variable glaug was the hero mech. Remember when hikaru faced off in a duel against the elite glaug-pilot in sdfm? they need something like that but this time it's a modified variable glaug vs a vf-25 or something. Bandai can milk the fan for more money. The zentradi guy who died in mac f gets his revenge when a friend of his mech-jacks a messiah in a plan to steal secrets to leak to rogue zentradi. Since yamato hasn't done variable glaug yet, critics can't accuse bandai of stealing design from existing yamato toys already on the market.

I like chunky bots only when armor is worn. The valkyrie in robot mode when slim = less restriction on limb movements and imo a pilot is cooler when he dodges or seeks cover (we see a lot of that in sdfm when they first encounter regult chicken-mechs) by moving out of the way or transforming to another mode to escape danger like we see in mac zero. It's not as cool to take a hit and eat the damage to trade blows because to me it shows you are not as alert and skillful. In the intro of sdfm tv series you can see a stylised evasive move by a valk in bot mode where he does a cool dodge-roll thing and then hover-skates on his feet thrusters whilst aiming at a hopping regult. All that quick movement is probably easier if you are not wieghed down by bulky parts that imo would make you respond with more lag than a skinny mech imo. I think what makes valk different from other shows is the idea that dodging is going to win more than hiding and waiting. To me its more interesting to see a speedy fight vs slow moving one. I like 'gundam 08 ms team' with all the tactics as the next guy but to me macross is all about the edge-of-your-seat avoidance of danger in the nick of time. (ie like luke skywalker just barely able to scrape past all the laser fire in episode 4 in star wars to reach the goal in time- accuracy + speed using good reflexes saves the day, not just having the latest vehicle with the best specs. -
Toynami agents working at yamato were responsible for that piece. Better get graham on the case.
-
Which is why I can't wait for the yamato vf-17...one day. (my wallet can though ) I don't care if basara was a superhero with newtype-like dodging skills, gamlin had the cooler looking robot by miles! that's a cool pic. See this is why I think if brera stern had a scheme similar to ivanov his valk would be much cooler. If you are going to hide in the shadows, stalking little girl, and snipe people from long range, a black robot is more appropriate imo. Black valk is also more smybolic of some kind of a death knight. Grace (version 2 sharon apple lol) should have had the pink one, and Brera with a black one. The grunts get the greens.
-
Just leave it in fighter. It's the best mode imo.

'Version 1' just means the old 1/60 from years ago that yamato released. You can't buy these or the 1/72 macross plus yamato toys anymore. version 2 or 'V2' = new yamato 1/60. (released after the 1/48 and replacing them as the "standard scale for all Perfect transformation valk toys from now") 'version' has nothing to do with the shoulder problem, it's just so people know which 1/60 yamato you are talking about. (older ones from ages ago, or recent ones) I just used jenius review of these new 1/60 on anymoon for rough reference to guide me on which are safe. (there is a list of releases of the 1/60 yammies in the review) I hope in future they do a V2 1/48 vf-1. I know I know, "it's not to scale with anything else". Neither are my transformers though. Just do it for VF-1 would be ok with me. See if they can finally include the one gimmick that is missing from all the toys: the hatch for the pilot to exit from the valk in robot mode. Start with the iconic orange vf-1d (or was that T?) from the tv series.
-
Ok may as well start a "post pics of your busted SDF-1 hip" thread now already. lol And a few "which are the safe versions?" threads, just to put it all in on spot.

I plan to get this game. Sounds good. I noticed it has online co-op mode so you can play the single player campaign with another friend. Have you tried this mode out yet, and can you give us your thoughts on it? (lag?) Thumbs up to bandai namco for including that mode. This is getting some solid reviews on metacritic too. edit: I ask mainly because ign review seems to think the multiplayer is the main appeal to buy it but seem to think single player is kinda boring all alone by yourself. -

Is that complete art works book still available these days? That and the Tenjin Hidetaka Art Works books I seem to have forgotten about. Haha sorry to derail the thread. -
You guys are crazy I tell ya. cracked shoulder in 3 months. "50% off hlj sale to clear space for the new fixed versions" The robotech "scary zentradi music" plays in my mind everytime I think about this thought.

Give the dude another chance. I love the yf-21 and vf-22. But there is something about the feet and legs in battroid that I think isn't as good as the old 1/72 for some reason. haha If they can solve that without compromising fighter mode that'd be great. I know people hate this idea but: you know how the legs were removable as part of the gimmick of the toy? (the movie edition shows guld ejecting his limbs to shed weight) Why can't they just have some kind of removable feet which allows yo to change those for the more lineart accurate feet? People who dont like this idea are not hurt in anyway, they just ignore the extra feet that come with it like you might ignore the bonus clown hands (which are not able to be used in perfect transformation) that you get with the tv version of 1/48 valks. Same with yf-19. That thing need chest lock, bigger gunpod, (make the wrist more stiff for the right hand to be able to suport weight) and solve the fat gut. Do this one first I reckon.Actually from now on what I would like to see is perfect transformation hands and beefy hands just like we got with the 1/48 tv valks. (yes and the sidecovers for any vf-1 in future.)
-
Probably the low visibility 1/48. Why? Even though the battroid mode isn't as good as the 1/60 yammies, the slightly more appealing plane mode and larger size = more visibile details on markings, and finer details which you'd miss in a smaller toy. Why the low visibility: it just looks cool to me because I'm not a big fan of the DYRL "white" planes flying around. I know I know. NASA shuttles are white and all that, but it's not civilian craft. You should look like a fighting machine. Especially in battroid mode. DYRL with color-coded trimmings and skull and bones on every character is not as good as the paint scheme in the tv series. I like the DYRL details, but tv schemes more. And I like the LV because it brings the valk closer to being 'real' to me. (realistic pilot, no indication that its trying to show off that it can transform etc) The grey Low visibility valk is like the macross equivalent to the transformers BinalTech/Alternators when they wanted to make the car mode look like something that exists for fans of the car. (going to the roots of TF again) That's why I think, if only VF-27 had a black paintscheme and more stealthy look to it, I would have bought it instantly. Not wait for the green and then be dispointed I can't get it because it's exclusive. Argh. I guess it's like the green robotech Alpha/legioss from mospeada: people like that one the most just because it looks less like a toy. Edit: also like to add that grey makes a robot seem more 'mass produced'. The grey vf-0 just looks good in robot mode and it's not symbolic of anything. It's not a white knight against a black knight. There's no "star wars" black against white theme going on. The robot can be used for both good and evil.

looks very cool. Way better than the dark blue used for the yf-21 in macross plus anime I reckon. Ivanov sv-51 and gamlin vf-22 are two of my faves. I think that cyborg guy in macross frontier should have had a black painted vf-27 not the pink colour. Pink sniper. Who's idea was that?

Would be happy if they were to delay this to include the extra gimmick. Don't see any reason they shouldn't include it. Looks like it is too late though. The hatch is the little bump along the arm. top right pic For folks who still have their yamato toy, check this area. Notice how it is a seperate piece? That used to be the gimmick. But that was the one that appeared in the game. Perhaps SMS uses a newer monster without it. -

Given there are going to be a lot of fans of the monster in here, I thought this thread might not be complete without a link to this great video: I bet whoever made it is preordering a whole bunch of konig monsters in preparation for making a stop motion music video of them dancing in sync to the music. -

ok I see what you mean now. If that is true then we shouldn't be scared of future bandai toys being as bad as vf-25 then. -

example of what I mean: -Bandai has license to do macross frontier toys. -a macross ship appears in macross frontier: so would it be wrong for them to rip off yamato's attempt (the current 1:3000) say in 3 years time or something on the basis that they want to sell their own version of it? (similar to how they did their own konig monster) My answer is: "It shouldn't matter so long as the toy is better, no matter who was behind it" -

I think what people need to understand is that neither bandia or yamato is perfect. You don't get broken shoulders on the chunky toys. You don't get as good sculpt from the bandai ones. I would rather a vf-171 that is slim like the cg and if bandai can copy whatever yamato do with the (if it is ever going to be done) vf-17 and learn from that I would be ok with it. Ripping off each other could result in much better quality coming out of both of them. -

fan fiction? What are you talking about? If bandai decides they could do the SDF-1 from macross frontier (see the episode where we get to see footage of earth and vajra appearing in the sky about to attack it) and the SDF that appeared in the episode where it had crash landed in the middle of nowhere abandoned (people who have seen the tv series help me out here with episode numbers) then.... what would be so wrong with bandai ripping off the yamato toy if it is the same basic thing? The argument was raised that bandai could have ripped off yamato toys, (too lazy to make their own ones hehe) and I responded that I don't think that is such a bad idea, provided the thing you are ripping off is really good. Why reinvent the wheel if it takes extra money and time when you could just base your toy from the one that others actually like a lot? And no Exo it is not fan fiction. Please watch macross plus and macross frontier again. You see SDF-1 at the end of macross plus being controlled by sharon apple. You see SDF-1 again in macross frontier when the series cuts to earth showing the lobsters attack, as well as another Macross class ship named "Global" in the episode called "memory of global" (which looks just like macross original from earth) so technically if bandai wanted to save money, they could theoretically rip off yamato's 1:3000 macross and save themselves lots of money and hard work doing their own "macross frontier" versions of the Macross that appear in that show. They've already done the quarter. But what I'm saying is why should we as fans care whether bandai does rip off yamato, so long as the final product is good. Would you prefer bandai work from scratch but not do as good a job as yamato? Or just let them take what worked fro mthe yamato version of macross (use it as a base) and see if they can improve on it a little bit? I don't see what would be wrong with the latter idea. (if bandai decides it wanted to do the SDF-1 in macross frontier for whatever reason) also.. What I was proposing was that since the vf-17 (which yamato can do due to having the macross 7 license) is similar to vf-171, why can't they just let yamato handle that toy and help with it, and in exchange bandai does most of the work for the destroid cheyenne for macross zero (which yamato have licesne for). Given the similarity of the destroid from macross zero to the one in macross frontier bandai could gain a lot of knowledge from working on the toy for macross zero when/if they decide they wanted to do a destroid for frontier. The destroid you see in macross zero with the rollers on its feet looks just like the one from macross frontier. This would save so much time. -
Ever have your pictures lifted from a site and used to sell something?

I like mr march's website with its nice coloured images. Hope he doesn't get angry at me. I made a nice macross tshirt for myself with the konig monster printed on it. I think as long as you are not trying to make money from it, it should be ok. It's like the argument about emulator roms. Most of the people downloading are just getting them for personal usage not to try to profit off it. Lot of the content had long since vanished and too hard to obtain anymore so fans will be fans and try to use alternate means. (For a long time I had to use a emulator to play street fighter III after my dreamcast game console died out making it impossible for me to play the game anymore I figure I'm not harming anyone, so why should I suffer? ) I suppose I should feel ashamed that my avatar was stolen from the creator of the vf-2 and now I should owe him $110101101010 dollars or whatever... but nah I'm feeling ok still. I'm not as bad as Harmony Gold am I? -

The thing is it will save them money. For instance The SDF yamato is doing already appears in DYRL, Macross plus, moacross frontier (as the "Global" version - just add the markings ) so it makes sense for both of them to share the load. If bandai decides to do the "Global" why should they start all over again when they can just rip off yamato's SDF-1? Bandai has the destroid on rollers in macross frontier, and it looks very similar to the one in macross zero. Yamato has the vf-17 they can do, and that looks similar to VF-171 from macross frontier, so why don't these two companies get together and work something out? While yamato is doing this vf-17, they can help bandai do the vf-171, (so it doesn't end up chunky) and bandai can just let yamato have the base for the destroid so that they can concentrate on other things. Who cares if they rip off each others work if in the end the final products turn out good? That's what I'm saying. Does it matter that some bandai toy looks like they took something from yammie toys in the past when that results in bandai improving their version? Personally I don't give a poo, just that the toy kicks butt. EDIT: the SDF-1 also appear in frontier in the episode when vajra are folding and about to attack earth. Technically bandai can milk two versions of this. But as I mentioned in my above post, if they ever decided to do their own SDF-1, it would make lots of sense to just rip from the one yamato is making to save money. Just like if yamato were to make a macross zero Destroid, they could steal some ideas off a bandai version. (assuming they'd ever do it, not much screen time was given to these guys in frontier) Point being: what's so wrong with using someone else's toy as your base if that toy was successful and worked well? (reinventing a wheel just to say you could do it?) -

That's why I think they should do a trade: Bandai does the destroid from macross zero, (does not transform and no problem of having to balance 3 modes, plus its newer brother appears in macross frontier so it's like 'the training' for the release of that one ) ...while yamato do the vf-171 which we know bandai will just make into a big chunky thing like the old vf-17 chunky monkey from macross 7. (I own one of them and still like it, but please let yamato do the frontier one - you had your chance bandai) -
These ideas sound like they'd be great for the live action robotech movie.
