Yamato 1/60 VF-19 Fire Valkyrie (v2.0)
1/1 LowViz Lurker replied to UN Spacy's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
They don't go limp, they are programmed to fear the protoculture race when they were created as weapons by the PC which is what made them lose space war I. The music merely provided a distraction for Global to launch all the nukes at once inside the leader's ship and then quickly activate a full barrier to shield the sdf1 from blowing itself up in the attack. The zentradi are like the terminator cyborgs in 'Terminator'. They are not allowed to think outside the mind control for fear they would turn against thier own creators, so thats why they get scared at tiny humans who look like the pc. In the original tv series it is mentioned the dna is almost the same between the aliens and humans. DYRL is just a movie within macross so that version of events is not how space war I really happened. In that version the aliens mind control (where they have thier memory wiped like when you got drunk one night and don't remember much) wears off a bit when an old song is played. VF-19 being alive and acting out of its own free will doesn't sound all that strange to me considering the zentradi use a guy's head to control thier ships. Is it really that hard to accept the wierd controls the zentradi used, being used by humans? I think that is much easier for me to accept than being able to play a guitar and fly around so easily in the show. The Fire valkyrie to me = host body for an AI. -

ok then... The fire valkyrie is secretly controlled by an AI similar to sharon apple from macross plus. This helps me deal with the idea that basara could concentrate on singing and flying so easily without ever getting hit. He is a fraud just like myung and the flying was handled by this AI. Basara sings while the fire valk controls the other stuff. Maybe when there is a remake of mac7 they will tone down basaras skills and make him more like normal pilots and less like a super hero? -
Robotech needs a reboot as a stop motion animation film using chunky munky toys from the 80s. I always like seeing toy ads where the toys do a stopmo transformation. At least make the robots move as good as ED209 from robocop and I'd be happy. I'd like to play a robotech game where you are a toy and fight other toys similar to lego starwars games. The cg model would be based on the toynami masterpiece collection. Despite what non-rt people say the games were not bad. I remember I was really hyped up about the news of a robotech videogame on the nintendo 64 a long time ago, but this sim never came out. That's the kind of thing they should be thinking about now where you don't see many space sim games in the US which you get to control a transforming mech. If the fans don't get a series in the form of anime, than they could think about it as an episodic game series which doesn't have to be too accurate to the tv show. The original vf-1 is starting to look dated and needs an updated look anyway.

:Drools: Best looking mech in mac7 imo Yamato would be crazy not to do this for the 11c and a milia repaint.

Yamato 1/60 VF-17 Nightmare Diamond Force

Yeah it has a big forehead. -
What I want is the two things as a boxset. vf-11c plus the armour together. vf-11 doesn't need a version 2 like the yf-19. Just do the armour and repaints. Also make the joints tight to compensate for the extra weight of the armour.

In the original macross, hikaru could have easily rescued minmay in his two-seater. He even realises this himself when he grips minmay with the robot arm lol What happened when he decided to hold her in the hand instead of putting her in the second seat? The arm got shot off and she almost plummets to her death, that's what. Would have been so much safer to put her inside. Let the spoilt girl climb a rope if you have to. -

Hlj may be slow but so far everything has been fine with me in dealing with them. I don't get the hate for them here all of a sudden. But I don't buy nearly as much macross toys as the average guy on these boards so maybe i have low standards heh I am tempted to get the fire valk because it has the long wings, but I'm going to wait for the blazer now. I just have to pretend basaras plane is a non-canon fan-made design which exists in a universe where un spacy has teamed up with the Transformers to fight aliens and basara is equiped with weapons to deal with soundwave but his weapons are non-lethal enerygy weapons. The fire valk is not a mech, but like starscream, a pilot can sit in his chest for a free ride. This helps me deal with the idea that the fire valkyie in mac7 uses guitar controls, because by saying its not a mech I can believe as a transformer the robot controls it own body and the human just sits there without having to actually fly it manually. Or basara IS the robot, and the transformer connects cables to his spine which then allows the transformer to control basaras body which allows the transformer to fly the plane with a pilot using guitar controls.(ie basaras hands are actually guided by the transformer to control the plane from inside the cockpit haha) -

The valkyrie also doesn't need hands. If they wanted to they could just integrate the weapons into the robot and have something like what the destroid has. Majority of the time they just use one gunpod and not several different gunpods in the shows. -

Meh. All valks can just land in gerwalk mode, and pilots can easily learn to levitate the wrecked planes with thier minds like what happened at the end of macross zero. Landing gears could just as well be put on the top of a valk since there is no up or down in space. But you barely see pilots flying around at wierd angles in space in the animes which makes us assume they have to act like they don't float around. Since when did hikaru ever need to land the valk in dyrl when he was folded to earth and there were no places left for him to land in fighter mode due to earth being destroyed? And then you have haters of gerwalk mode saying it's not a cool mode. ..really.. This mode is one of the differences between normal planes and valkyries and why it made the other robots obsolete. Landing gear is for pussies who can't control thier valks in all three modes yet because they are too scared to try everything. As for the guy asking: Why do valks need to be slim? (i know it's troll bait) Has it ever occured to you that when not fighting in space, the advantages of not being a flying brick outweigh the disadvantages of not being one? But why does the vf-19 blazer have stubby wings? Uh, maybe because they mostly want to use it in space, just like how some gundam types are customised a bit more for space missions with extra thrusters so they gain an advantage. Dude, don't try to think so hard about it. It's a giant robot anime where all kinds of crazy things are possible due to advances in fictional technologies from a race of beings who are probably just evil versions of humans. My theory about why they need landing gears is that originally the transformation was a secret so the valkyrie had to look like an ordinary jet at least until the public realised they were up against giants. But the need for landing gears in macross is just as puzzling as the need for heads on mecha in any anime. The zentradi were smart to just have an eyeball on the regult to keep it simple. -

They very rarely need to take off from runway in the show. They have those arm things holding them like in dyrl. And a lot of us use stands. But we do want slim fighter because thats what it looks like in shows. Personally I think the landing gears should be folded into position using minifold boosters (like how weapons appear out of nowhere in the transformers cartoon) or have the pilots learn how to float rocks or other things with the power of thier minds like we see in macross zero. The fact is shin was able to fly his destroyed vf-0 miraculously into space without any shamanic training and I think if all pilots in future macross shows can't learn to stop thier planes using magick to land them safely, then they should be given training in the event that gerwalk mode doesn't work (yf21 legs detached for instance) or the landing gears fail. -

If they can give us pt gimmick with ok-sized gunpod, I'm ok with that. What some fans might complain about though is how such and such part is small. This is known as 'the yamato curse' where some part must appear small. hands, feet, gunpod, etc and people obsess over that part. Even v2 1/60 couldn't escape the curse as people don't like the long neck. -

That's good to hear. So gunpod gimmick is confirmed as well as PT landing gear. Nice. I can live without the missile gimmick since I like battroid mode more. What kind of joints can we expect? I can see fans of basara posing vf-19 with his sound boosters near gamlin and having nukes appear useless anyway. Not even the space whale seem phased by the reaction bomb in one of the ovas if I remember anyway lol Mac7 makes reaction weapons the bad guy a lot. -

Toy of the year if they can squeeze it all in. Bandai is probably seeing what they could borrow for vf-171 once they can figure it out. lol This is practice for when/if we ever get to see macf toys from yamato. I can live without PT landing gear if it means we get a great gunpod gimmick but the gunpod should have 2 versions: 1. A canon proportioned one that doesn't fit into the leg. (I'm assuming that it's too big and anime magic is involved, correct me if I'm wrong) 2. one that is pieced together in order to fit inside properly without making fighter mode chunky from the side. Meh, space valks don't need landing gears anyway. It's so overrated. I think the fighter mode fans are interested in slim looking jet mostly. .....but let's see if they can give us everthing without compromise. If I had to choose what to remove, though...I'd say make the landing gear non-perfect transforming. I get the feeling what they will do is just make the gunpod smaller instead of making fighter mode fat from the side. I like fold out gimmicks. I like what takara-tomy/hasbro did with banzaitron for transformers with the sword folding out from his backpack/tank turret. -
I like the urban camo.

I'm aware the pilot sits in the chest but the worm wants to enter from the head turret after biting it off. Geez I can't believe I'm the only one that sees the mech worm. But the 2 things yamato need to do: 1. milia vf-11 2. armour for vf-11c 3. peg on the bottom of the escape pod somewhere so it won't get lost. Forget about the atmospheric booster of vf-11. If you want give us optional gummy hands like the 1/48 vf-1 got. (but shaped to look like robot hands)
-
The HiMetal = “the high quality banpresto” line for me. I hope the pocket valk idea continues for those who are interested in high quality toys at smaller sizes. What is it about the vf-1 himetal don't you like? It's not better than 1/60 yamato v2, but it's a big step up from the chunky monkey. Just like the konig monster was to the older yamato monster. If bandai can do more pt toys (vf-0 maybe?) in this line I would be interested in them. Although one thing they should think about in future is getting the gunpod to attach properly in fighter mode for future. (ie no modding required for vf19 or yf-19)

Make the shoulder thingies out of cardboard and add some sticky tape to attach it. Yamato could make loadsa money. Shipping costs would be tiny. -

As long as the thing is perfect transformation I am happy. If fighter mode isn't slim people won't buy it that's what I think is important. Then battroid mode comes second. I will only buy a valkyrie if the fighter mode is great. Then if battroid is good too, it's icing on the cake. The above is a poem for yamato. I think that rule is thrown out of the window for anything mospeada related. CMs made the legios skinny and everyone hated it because they like robot mode more. The way I see it if they make it too chunky the feet will look tiny just as the already small hands of the 1/48 vf-1 looked even more tiny once the gbp armor was added. Skinny robot isn't so bad to me but small hands and feet is what gets me. I think the tiny feet of yf-21 hurt it in robot mode. (it's legs weren't as bulky too) It's one of those mecha that if it had non-canon feet which you could swap it would make the robot look more balanced in proportion. There was a kit that could achieve the look of the lineart better than the 1/60 yamato toy. -
It's a great mech. I already own one. I'd buy another if I had the money. But I spent some on bandai macross stuff.

Bandai DX Chogokin YF-29 Durandal Valkyrie

It has a powerful look to it but compact and light. Kinda like when fast packs stopped being chunky blocks strapped to the top of the vf-1 and slowly got smaller and smoother and took less space. (ie vf-11 FP) This has that "speedy but armed with power" look to it. I'm starting to like the design a bit more than before. I want to buy one but I got to save up. I bet the pilot is drunken (roy) or reckless (isamu) or maybe a rockstar who is prepared to die for his belief by not bringing weapons into a battlefield (basara and the guy in macross zero) But I doubt its the latter given it has all the weapons on its back. It's probably a relative of the old guy in macross 7 who piloted the monster and almost blew a hole in the hull of the ship by accident during the robot convention. -

ok on topic then: I'm happy about vf-17 not being gloss. Are they going for a phat robot this time or a skinny robot? -

Ok now I think they are just making it up graham so they can get a whole new yf19 sent to them free. Nice tactic! -

You people say you don't like the jets in TF but I think if all the transformers disguised themselves as valkyries and takara tomy got the license to make macross/transformers crossover (similar to the marvel transformers crossover toys) you'd buy them all in in a flash. Obvious choices: Jetfire - becomes VF-1 Starscream - SV-51 (I think because he is skinny) Or maybe VF-0D SoundWave - VF-19 fire valkyrie ..but painted blue (because of the speaker pod and sound boosters, soundwave version can actually record music and has a mic inside the EARS! ) Cyclonus - YF-29 -
If you don't transform an easy valk for ages, it is very easy to forget one or two steps. If you forget one or two steps you are frightened about wrecking it more. That's why I now say that is is easy. After your first go in a long time you can easily remember which peices stick to what surfaces and what order to do things in. It's easy to judge AFTER you have just recnetly transformed something, but on first attempt when you can't see what part connects to what other part, (because your view is obscured) what pieces are weak (the VB-6 is an example where the more you transform it the weaker the little nubs get) and how many clicks things have, (sometimes there are "secret clicks" you forget about) then it can take a long time. Practice makes perfect I suppose. Since I don't practice often this is why it appears harder or scarier to me than others who just can't stop touching the valks like it were a pair of huge breasts from Nanase.
