Roy's death in the tv series was pretty shocking and had the most impact on me especially how no one could have expected it. From then on you as an audience member kind of wonder how Rick was going to cope by himself with all that sudden responsibility. It would have been good if they had a Roy funeral episode. And to think, Hikaru's close friend marries the person who killed him. hah If only roy practiced in the video arcade he might have lived. (I wonder if they used those arcade games as simulators?) Kakizaki's death on the other hand wasn't shocking at all or even unpredictable (but still sad) because he was always getting shot in the back or needing help. The main story could have continued along as usual if he dies because he wasn't a major pivotal character. The civilian deaths back on earth were some of the saddest though. It wasn't just mass death, but the end of the world. But when you think about it, they all died in a pretty humane way - just blasted from above and instant death by the zentreadi. No prisoners, torture or enslavment as you might have got if there was a world war against other humans. If the warlike humans had just given them back thier ship maybe the world would have been a better place since all the technology being used was just for making more powerful and deadly weapons? It's not as if the humans stood a chance against the 5 million ships or anything.. the humans would just repeat the same mistakes the aliens made and end up wiping out (and destroying, then substituing for thier own) whole cultures by military force for a one world order. (microcosm being mirror of the macrocosm as theosophists believe. With the idea that the heaven and earth are similar or linked? Sorry to get all magickal and what not, but I was just watching macross zero for the first time the other day (brillant dogfight scenes!) and I'm starting to think these elements tie in closely to why Anti UN forces would fear the dictatorial rule by a single power and feel the need to stop the UN, rather than just being your usual "evil bad people". The UN could be seen as the human equivalent of the Zentreadi while the Anti-UN = the human equivalent of the protoculture trying to protecting existing cultures. I could go into a detailed explanation but just go to the scene where the religious chic talks about there once being "several different names for several different plants" and how, now that humans have unified together we all just refer to them in a generic category for mass use through agreed-upon scientific terms that don't pay attention to the heritage of that unique culture's mythical reference of the plants. To those still paying atention: It's the "death of culture" theme all over again, with the UN being the cause of it, where all the villagers have left thier homes to go to the big bad evil cities just because its a more convenient comfortable lifestyle, instead of say, carrying on with the plan thier god had in store for them, and, like the zentreadi; forgetting thier own "proto"culture and origins. All this, as younger, bolder, and braver generations of the villagers grow up ignorant of thier own past and all too ready and eager to except someone else's culture (even helping to fight thier wars) just to blend in, almost ashamed to admit whatever uniqueness they possessed as having any use in the new world. If their 'end of the world' prophecy is coming true it will be the *begining* of a new culture (the "birth" of new man, similar to how the first human was born through a mixture of fish and bird) making contact with another culture, but the *destruction* and end (death) of thier old culture as more villagers leave thier past behind. (ie the loss of fish fins for human legs to adapt to new environments, as symbolically told in the legends/creation myth/evolutionary theory.) The bird human I'm guessing then, refers to the mythical "phoenix" which dies and is reborn from ashes. We actually see the whole forest being bombed by the anti-un's attempt to kill the UN soldiers at the end of ep4 which could mean new types of insects animals will be created from the ones that died similar to how those fireflies were trying to immediately repair and recreate after the death of other living organisms to compensate from an earlier destructive incident. If you couple that with the girl's blood links being similar to the ancient organism we are being led to believe they might try to clone the creature, use the purple-haired girl's blood to give the creature life, and then finally combine this with the singing effect (the breath of life?) of that religious chics voice to awaken a once dead monster. (remember what happens when she sings? things start floating, blood sample goes crazy, flowers start to grow etc.. just some ideas)

Huge Transformers News at Comic Con 2004.
1/1 LowViz Lurker replied to UN Spacy's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
I'd prefer if they made a toy story-esque cg movie. Or maybe take the realistic "final fantasy: the movie" approach than live action. I just saw the 80s movie on dvd the other day and liked it. I've never noticed it before but there is a macross easter egg within the movie heh -
My theory has always been a combination of game controllers, flight sticks and foot pedals. (in the arcade max and millia used normal game controllers). Here's my fanfic theory: Legs/feet --------- footpedals are like a playstation 2 analogue stick There is a strap on belt that fixes to the pilots foot, he moves this giant foot pedal stick in any of 360 degrees of direction and at differring levels of distance within that direction which corresponds to the mechs hip to leg ball joints. To fire his foot thrusters he pushes down heavily to simulate a jet boost (like a gamecube trigger button "click") while moving the giant analogue stick in the direction he wants to move. You know how on those playstation Dual Shock analogue sticks where they allow you to acually push the stick inwards down into the controlpad? Similar thing here but with analogue instead of digital "pushing in" motion. ....But like gamecube's trigger button where..as the stick reaches it's maximum analogue limit you can click it down digitally. Which release the boost. You can have it so that it only releases boost while the trigger is clicked in.... or you double click (like mouseclicking) to sustain boost constantly so that you can curl your legs up into your body while the boost is on, and then click that pedal a third time to stop the boost. The pedals are suspended upwards with springs to provide force feedback and as they are pushed down by the natural weight of the pilot, the knees on the mech straighten out. To do a massive kick, you would slam the pedal (connected to a analogue control stick) downwards and move the control forward. (remember you foot is strapped to the pedal.) The analogue controls are like the angle of the balljoints in the hips of the mech at which you want to move the legs. Height of the mech is determined by how high the stick is from the cockpit ground. The stick is able to be push down into the ground. Also the angle at which the feet of the mech are, depends on the angle of the foot pedal (on top of the stick, like the pedal of a bicyle but which can also be angled outwards in limited sideways motion as well as tilted forward or backward) to the base of the stick. There are sensors to show how "deep" the foot of the pedal (the top of the stick) is to the ground of the cockpit (like the Dual Shock's analogue stick's digital button that presses "in" to the control pad - only these are analogue not digital.) As I mentioned, the stick can recede into the ground of the cockpit. When the foot pedal is 100% touching the ground of the cockpit, the mech is standing straight, when the pedal are released (and the springs push them up to simulate the forcefeedback of gravity on a human's leg), the mechs legs bend accordingly. Jet boosters are activated by first pushing down the pedal to the ground so there is no more space between the cockpit ground and your foot, and then "clicking" the pedal down. (like a gamecube trigger button. Again if you've never seen or held a gamecube trigger you need to hold it to see what I mean. It is an analogue trigger, with a digital click.) Arms/wrists ----------- Now with the arms: easy! The joysticks are just normal flight sticks that sit on top of a stiff trackball-like base. (have any of you guys played an arcade game called "marble madness"? Think of a flight stick on the centre of that trackball) The trackball decides what angle the balljoint of the shoulder should be moved in. The flight stick sitting on the TOP of that trackball base can then be moved in any of 360 degrees directions to move the forearm of the mech similar to analogue control sticks on video game controllers. The wrists of the mech can be moved with tiny acupressure sticks on the flight stick(like the acupoint on those laptop keyboards used as the mouse. But this will have a different force feedback feel - very light and very sensitive and fine - compared to the flightstick so the pilot can finely coordinate his aim) through a tiny button near where the thumb is located on the flight stick. for those who are not familiar with what I'm talking about you'll have to analyse what that button feels like in real life. When the acupressure button/stick is left alone the wrists just pop back into neutral postion. (having them make the mechs wrist go straight.) On the surface, along the sides of the stick are analogue trigger buttons (yes just like the playstation control pad's trigger buttons only more ergonomic) for each finger of the mech so when you grip the flight stick tightly, those buttons are pressed down to make a clenched fist on the mecha. Normally there is some force feedback springs inside the stick's trigger-buttons to keep those buttons sticking up to make a released hand on the mech. But when you push them with varying degrees of pressure the mech's computer can aproximate the movment of the fingers based on the object you wish to grab (like the handle of a gunpod) using some sensors to get the 3d shape of the object. When an object is gripped you will have the forcefeedback in the controls pushing the buttons up to similate pressure to picking up an object in real life. And indicators on the screen will tell how much pressure you are applying for delicate objects. With the trackball base, (shoulders) the analogue flight stick that sits on the that base, (forearms) the stick's ability to rotate with in a left or right circular motion either to left of right (wrists), and the analogue trigger-buttons on the surface of the stick where the hand grips it, (fingers) you can simulate any movement of the human body. In summary picture the controls as a flight stick (with analogue movment) stuck onto a trackball (with analogue movment), with a laptop acupressure point for fine control. (with you guessed it, analogue movement) And all of these with varying levels of adjustable pressure to synchonise with the pilot. I thought this out about 5 years ago when trying to make an explanation to how the hands should move the arms of the mech. This explains how a mech can actually pull a trigger on a gunpod to make it fire while looking like the pilot is just pressing a set of trigger buttons on the flight stick. Because his "mech fingers" are just following his trigger fingers on the controls. Hips/Head --------- Now for rotating the hips of the mech, the pilot merely swivels the chair a little to get a constant movement until the joint can't move anymore and stops. The head is interesting: I think there would be remote infrared sensor (or maybe something similar to the lightgun games we use to play in the arcades) mounted inside the helmet of the pilot that when it is pointed at the screen(shpwing us what's in front of us through the camera eyes), the computer tries to synchonise the actual mech's head movement to keep that red dot always at the centre of vision. eg. If I point the red dot to the left of the screen, the mech head will follow my centre of vision and move the head to the left, (with the "camera eyes" of the mech providing visual feedback of what I'm seeing onscreen as the head moves....thus constantly trying to keep the red dot coming from the infrared sensor in my helmet always focused in the centre of the screen. Simlar to how a mouse in a first person shooter controls the view in "mouse look" mode. The computer transmits what the red dot is placed on and the head turns to focus that object in the centre.) If the pilot wants to lock that head into place because he wants to take his helmet off, he merely lets go of the flightstick, and pushes a key on the dashboard controls (come on now, you can't tell me that you've never had to take your hand off the flight stick to press a key on the keyboard when playing pc flight sims? ) If there is NO helmet, the pilot just manually moves the head with an extra analogue stick on the dashboard and the computer moves the mech head accordingly while the computer AI just controls the other arm automatically to keep the mech always-balanced. (or just supporting and guiding the nozzle of the gunpod - I figure most of the time you only control the gun arm anyway. Theoretically one flightstick could just be used for aiming the gunpod, with the unoccupied arm/slight stick just supporting and guiding the gunpod to give better accuracy - a task the computer can autmatically control so long as the cameras are controlled by the pilot to keep the targets within view. Play "Virtua On" on dreamcast to know what I mean. An extra controlstick is needed on the dashboard anyway to control the head laser when cutting things...soo) All of the controls for the arms and legs have springs of force feedback and fall into a default position when left alone so that the mech has some tension in the joints to make the pilot feel they are carrying a weighty piece of armour on thier own body and to make it feel natural for a person to move around and feel connected to the mech. But when the pilot wants to leave the mech standing up, he can "park" that mech to lock it into position and maybe even pose it so long as it remains balanced. (dashboard control again) Think of the adjustable tension of these controls as similar to the adjustments you can make on an excercise bike on hard and easier settings. Loose controls may damage the mech over time, stiff ones are slower but won't wear it out so easily. Eventually everything breaks from wear and tear.. Anyway that's how I've dreamed the controls of giant robots in general. The limbs and joints must be intuitive so the pilot can move just as he would as a human, otherwise it would negate the advantage of having a humanoid form. I always assumed the ideal (physical control) mech would be controlled similar to ripley's loader in Aliens where the limbs of the person move the robot arm and the robot arm provides the power. Or if you've seen any of Shirow Masamune's stuff from appleseed... some images to help visualise my fanfic theory: ^ the pilot can use the head to lockonto missles, or set the controls so that the arm holding the gunpod autmatically targets what's in front of him with the mecharm following the eyecameras in the mech's head. (target is whatever is centred onscreen similar to a first person shooter ) All other functions are accessed from the dashboards or hud.

Brownies and vf1d's would be nice. this will force people to buy them before they re-release 1s. jk

Can't wait to get my hands on one of these. I wonder if someone could make a 3d image of that similar to what they did on robotech.com for the legious toy: http://www.robotech.com/gallery/mmitem.php...type=MOV&id=267 (requires quick time to view - when image is loaded, drag mouse over image to view Alpha at all angles. '+' and '-' to zoom in/out) A 3d image of the monster for us to drool at would be good. (in all 3 modes) It would be the closest thing to being able to hold one.

NEW Official MPC Thread!!!

So there was no one at the show to demonstrate the transformation then? I want to know how delicate it is after a few transformations. I will probably wait till after the magic #3000 to see what the difference is. Will this have any little gimmicks like LEDs? I think with the news of Robotech 2004/2005 the dvd ova/tv series/movie/comics/the videogame etc they will be able to milk this thing for all it's worth and the price could go down. I want one, don't get me wrong but I'm going to just wait and see. Assuming these sell very well from all the anticipation, I'm hoping they get to work on beta/tread or even release both in a set (Alpha w beta) at some later time. If they can just make them robust enough I reckon little kids will want to be able to buy these as transformable toys, and maybe bring that cost down for the average person. If they do make little changes and improvements over time I will be happier with later versions. -
Australian SDF:Macross DVD box art
1/1 LowViz Lurker replied to Cyclone's topic in Movies and TV Series
So what's the easter egg and how do you access it? Is it a secret H-doujin made by fans of minmay? I got this recently. The box stood out very well in the shop. The little booklets are just cut down versions of the liner notes. When are the Mospeada and SC ones due in OZ? -
Anyone know where I can get hold of a sticker guide for yf-21fp? Thanks in advance.

NEW Official MPC Thread!!!

Great pics. *Drools* Now the question remains will it fall apart the minute people touch it? I wonder if somebody who has handled it could reassure us all. heh. -
I agree too. Man, I hope I can afford to buy the Koenig without selling a kidney.... If these were like, limited edition toys with the chance of them rising in price over time because of rarity then maybe... but I need to eat too. lol Even then I'm not a collector anyway - I want to actually touch the darn things. Oh and I don't think I speak for everyone.. but they should release the VF1D (I've always loved the fat head's look and the double visors, plus its chest is a little unique to the others heh) and brownie 1/48 VFs imo. For those that ARE buying them, let them, I say. For all those that are happy with 1/60s that's cool but there are some who saved up (by not buying any 1/60s jk) and kind of want to see a whole complete 1/48 set. The transformable variable fighters are pretty much the main things I'm interested in. Still struggling to decide if I should get the Queadluun-Rau. Looks cool but pricey. And it's not the green one in the tv series.. Paint chips easily on diecast toys doesn't it? And the extra weight means increased chance of floppiness in limbs and less posability. If they could just lower the price on existing plastic toys that'd be cool.

Just watched it again, and I agree. The grav mines were a trap and the messages must have been part of the scheme. I wonder why misa didn't bring some of the books with her before leaving? Well the thing is...most people are weak willed. If some macross fan came along and told me I can't buy the new robotech game because somehow it would be supporting the bad guys I think I will crumble and still end up supporting that company.hehe like I said maybe I'm just a greedy, selfish SOB but that's unfortunately how businesses are and how consumers behave. For every opportunity to make money there will always be some other guy trying to rip off somebody and ride on thier success. (but that doesn't mean I should protest against macross II for example. I still enjoyed it and from a consumer's point of view and I shouldn't really care who profited should I?) Another example if somebody didn't clone pcs and compete, people would get used to paying full price for things rather than searching for bargains. When companies need to compete, it means consumers get the best of both worlds. More choice, possibly cheaper things, more leverage to demand quality etc. If I see a better price at a cheaper deal with equal quality, do I show loyalty or cave into temptation? On the issue of HG's tieing up of licenses I agree on that one. Pissed off. But....like I said the masses of casual fans from Robotech probably don't know much about macross and so there's not much that you can do apart from letting both universes exist side by side. (If people want to see what happens to Rick's expeditionary force and continue that universe to tie up the loose ends, then good I say. I personally wouldnt mind seeing another series so long as HG learn to share and stop hogging the market by blocking macross. But fans are fans and companies don't always listen to them - sad fact of life.) In my experience fans normally don't care about the casual masses, but that's who business wants to capitalise on and profit off so they can keep making more $. Why do I support HG by buying anything related to robotech? Answer: I don't see me buying something off them necessarily as agreeing with everything the company does. I buy lots of nintendo games but I disagree with lots of decisions they make. Does that mean I should never support them ever again? No. You can still hate the company but buy thier products - ironic but true. Look at microsoft software. There are probably lots of people who hate thier tactics but end up using thier poorer products anyway..Maybe they don't realise the cheaper alternatives or competition's products. But people go against thier conscience out of convenience.

Yeah same. I wonder if her BF is still hiding on mars somewhere? How come the machine was still sending messages? I might actually watch these episodes side by side just to compare. The only one thing I liked about robotech more I think was that 1 episode in "force of arms" where minmay is singing "we will win" music. She'd make a great cheerleeder.

The funny thing is I would not have found out about the different macross toys had someone off Robotech.com not mentioned life outside the harmony gold lines of robotech toys. lol I recently viewed the whole Macross DVD box set. Then I was searching for macross toys, read some reviews online, came here for info, and now I've become a lurker. No wonder threads get deleted on robotech.com. It's to hide the real macross from the masses. Although I've known about the differences for a long time, (long time casual fan of various anime) I still like the idea that the masses have access to macross through the robotech world because it means they might try to release more toys and games off of robotech. The robotech game wasn't as bad as I was expecting so in some way, from a gamer's point of view, dare I say it, I didn't CARE if the story is canon or who the creators were from the original anime. Sacrilege I know. I can understand why both sides hate each other's guts but...I just don't care haha Now I'm changing my attitude a bit and I respect the original series, but you got to reason that some macross (in the form of robotech) is better than none (macross by itself would never appeared back then in the 80s) right? As a little kid if I had to choose between nothing, or something adapted for US tv as a kids cartoon then I would go the latter. Robotech was right there alongside transformers etc (there are even little cultural references in starcraft to the robotech voices) so I can see why people would be fond of it without needing to be a fan of macross. The ideal to me is that both coexist. Because now that the universe exists and too many people already know about the story from harmony gold's version of events, it would be a waste to just throw that universe out. Rather than have robotech replace macross whenever macross related stuff appears outside japan, I would rather both worlds be around and they continue to keep them both alive. As an example, Macross II, although not part of the macross universe, was still pretty enjoyable. I loved the mecha, the animation and fighting was good, and really the fact that it was NOT canon didn't affect my enjoyment of it. It may as well have been official, do you see my point? So I'm a bit of an agnostic when it comes to "choosing sides" and going as far a needing to "re-educate" everyone else about all the differences. If you took away the credits and people had to judge what they thought of a anime without knowing who was behind it, they probably wouldn't be so anal because there would be no fan bias to pollute thier judgement. If some fan makes a star wars clone and rips off the ideas of someone else and it is better than the original, people would most likely just support both series and in 100 years not care. All I'm saying is dont' feel you have to "convert" - be your own judge is all. The original post sounded so serious. Done. Loving the original much more too. Still pissed off that the supervision army is some mysterious enemy of zentreadi we don't get to see. Almost as bad as when they make mention of "section 9" in Ghost in the shell anime movie and never give us non-manga audiences an explanation as to what the fark that is.. hehe

Dudes, this is going to freak you out, but there is no real visible way to do it. I actualy found this out by accident after hearing about it here when somebody wanted to take his stickers off. The only way is: a) to stick the whole thing on the plastic of the toy first. b) push it down hard enough so the sticky stuff on the bottom layer is firmly stuck to the toy, then... c) with a long fingernail ( I haven't cut my nails in ages hehe) just scratch it hard and eventually you'll notice there's a weaker covering layer which is less sticky than the bottom layer's stikiness. You made need to apply a finger on the bottom layer as you are peeling off the top layer to help keep the bottom stuck down. But...this is risky as I mentioned above for some of the stickers. I take no responsibility if you end up accidently tearing the bottom layer off with the top layer. But I swear 2 layers exist. If I had a digital camera I would have taken pictures to show you. I actually TRIED to take the whole top layer off without applying the stickers to the toy, (ie just leaving the stickers on the sticker sheet) ...but no good. I end up most of the time taking both layers off. The only way I have figured it out so far is to apply them to the toy first. which can be scary if you are dealing with the bigger ones (like the un spacy logo) My guess is the bottom layer is meant to provide enough stability so that when you scratch the top layer off, you then have leverage with your finger nails to force the top layer off. (one layer having stronger adhesive than another) Here's a tip: get a sticker that you KNOW you won't use, apply it onto the toy as a test. Push it down hard. Then with a long fingernail, scrape as hard as you can NEAR the edge of the sticker (not ON the edge, otherwise you'll risk taking the whole sticker off). Now I promise you will see the top layer slowly come off. Keep scratching and peeling till the whole thing is gone. Sometimes the top layer leaves a bit of it's sticky stuff on the bottom layer which can be annoying since you gotta clean this off, and sometimes it doesn't. I might try this again with some of the little numbers you get with it. (since I will not be using all of them.) So far I have peeled off about 6 stickers' top layers. I always thought the stickers looked a bit dull when you apply them.. so when I discovered there is a bottom layer, I was happy. The clear part of the sticker is more transparent than the top layer. If anyone is daring enough, let me know if you manage to peel the top layer off properly. Pictures would be nice. If anyone knows if there is an official safe way to do it, that would be good.

And don't forget in episode 1 of macross tv series where Hikaru's VT102 crashes into studio Nue's building (he was half in gerwalk and half in battroid mode) where the little chimera animal's face on the sign actually changed! If you';ve got the dvd go and watch that part again if you must. Aha, the only way that is possible in the macross world is through magic! The ghosts of the dead ASS1 crew still live on and have possessed the bridge bunnys.. jk Somebody shiould ask SK whether the chimera on the sign of Studio Nue building was a hidden ghost/demon like Slimer in the ghostbusters lol
-
I just applied some stickers on a 1/48 yamato vf1 and noticed that there are 2 layers. The top layer of the stickers is dull while the bottom is nice and shiny. But sometimes when you peel the top layer it leaves the bottom layer all sticky. Is it normal to just leave the top layer on, or to peel it? I tried peeling it for the unspacy logo and because I wasn't careful I ended up tearing the bottom layer while trying to peel the top layer off. Lucky they give extra stickers for this part..
-
I think both series are kind of cool too. It's ok to like both. But if robotech2004 turns out crap, I will probably end up forgetting about robotech altogether. I want to find out if Scott managed to find Rick Hunter's expeditionary force and what new mecha they can come up with. heh

About the alien-looking skull, I said it was "alien-looking" not that it was actually alien. I think there is a section dedicated to skulls somewhere and they've done dna tests on them, and yes they are human. I've seen some strange things on ripleys believe it or not where they purposley use techniques to deform the body into certain shapes so I'm aware of the way different cultures could have funny looking bones structures. (like how some put 100s of necklaces on thier neck when young and grow up with long necks. Interesting stuff nonetheless) Anyway I urge you to download that pdf file of the 12 footer in the coffin. You'll need adobe acrobat to open it. But in that article is a good photo of a giant lying in a coffin against a train. Roy: "Now, you see why we had to built these giant machines rick, to combat these giant aliens..." According to that steve quayle site, the biggest ever recorded giant remains are a whopping 36 feet! He has an interesting take on the whole creation myth. Basically like in the matrix movies civilisations keep getting more advanced until corruption is too great, then bam! massive destruction, and civilisation must start again and the cycle repeats. (so you see mysterious technology from the past that doesn't belong in this age because it was from earlier "advanced" civilisations.) I'm thinking this: Because the Zentreadi were clones, in a religious sense, clones do not have a 'soul' so it makes it easier for the spirits that existed inside the "sub-universe" to enter and possess thier bodies. Thier minds easily controlled by a demon force then spread and turned against them - similar to demon possession like that little girl in the excorcist movie lol.) Now before you go calling us all geeks consider that there are stories similar in lots of anime and sci-fi too. In the Street Fighter games you have the illuminati and M.bison's secret society ShadowLaw, using clones as his host body, or (as with street fighter 3) beings from ancient bloodlines having angelic powers(The videogame boss, Gill for example). Mind control? Cammy white in the SF animatated movie was a manchurian candidate used by bison to assasinate presidents. In the official canon, Cammy isn't the only one, there are like 12 other dolls used. His psycho powers of mind control is in fact a form of magick (not "magic" because it is not an illusion) He could use psychotronic devices to perform demonic experiments (poor ken) or just use his own power. This is why character's like Rose are so part of the story all along. The creators didn't want to give away the whole story until absolutely the end. (nobody know much about why rose is in a street fighter game because she sticks out too much. - like an after thought. But towards the end she is one of the main characters.) Now in macross plus, the same sort of thing happens with Sharon apple hypnotising humans probably with ELF waves or something. -------------------------------- Alien skull update EDIT: here's a cut and paste of the article from s8int.com: http://www.s8int.com/giants3.html ^possible remains of Exedol ...I take back what comments I made about the picture I linked to in particular. The skulls I was reffering to with dna tests done on them "that were found human" were a different type of skull from another site with skull images. The long brained one you saw in my earlier post could indeed be "alien" (if that's what you want to call whatever ancient species of human had existed that far back in time - still farkin fascinating. I'm more interested in the giant skeletons because if giants had massive brains and were intelligent, and not just "dumb brutes", then they would make Einstien look like a retard..) Here's a link to an aritcle on the shaver mystery ----snip---- There's more but I thought it would be funny to include the part about mechs for the guy in this thread curious about giant robots in ancient times.

The giants were all over the earth. Killing, eating men, and giving everyone a bad day. It doesn't matter what country you're from. There were remains of big dudes here as well. Possibly the world was just 1 island and we all spoke the same language before God got angry and had to split the world into several languages and several islands as a way to save humans from cruel tyrant-kings. Like in the macross compendium where Britai was bred to his rank at a certain size and strength, so too could these giants choose from amoung thier tribes the greatest and strongest and who that person can breed with to increase the size of thier tribemen. (selective breeding to control the ranks) Meanwhile normal sized men were too scared to do anything so they had to wroship them as gods to appease them. (survival) There's some interesting background about the solomon islands giants here: http://www.thesolomongiants.com/ Think of the mean ones as blood drinking vampires with supernatural strength. When ppl get baptised with water it grounds the evil spirit (made from electricity) of a possessed person. (water hurts vamps, demons etc and can be used in excorcism) given that you're a vamp hunter and all from the castlevania videogames.. jk You could call the flood a massive baptism and cleansing to kill the physical giants. Some may have survived and continued on preserving thier bloodlines up to present day and had to hide in secret,(perhaps in huge underground cities) thier history preserved through the telling of popular tales but with labels, names, and dates changed to protect thier identity. I reckon what happened is that back in the ancient times when people told stories orally rather than through comics, movies, and books, they had to pass down thier history generation to generation (grandfather, father, son) to preserve thier knowledge of the past. All the myths and legends of supernaturally strong heroes and villains could have been literal, and behind some of the fantasy and magic there is some truth in it. So you see out of place findings that stun people because people don't live 900 years to gather enough wisdom and intelligence to pass large chunks of the past to current day men. Like the Zentreadi, current day men then forget what the past was, absorbed only with the present, due to crappier lifespan. In Macross, the Zentreadi only know just enough about thier past but not enough and not in any detail to be able to believe thier own prophecies with any seriousness. Watch the classic sci-fi movie Blade Runner. The main villain is too ignorant of the world around him because the reploid has been designed to only live long enough to survive a very short time so as not to get too smart and self aware. (too dangerous to society) But after they wipe its memory they can put it back into service again ignorant of what happened before. Today you could say superman is the current day version of myth and legend: He is non-human super strong protector of mankind. An alien or fallen angel from the sky disguising himself in normal men's clothing and manners but superior to most humans in every way. Same thing with Dragon Ball Z. Goku, a usually super strong man from a warrior race, falls from the heavens (space) accidently falls and hits his head and becomes man's saviour or messiah. Myths and legends are retold today just drfessed in different packaging. Anyway there was a recent documentary in australia on sbs or abc (can't remember which) about japan's underground cities and giant pyramid-like structures. Now all the myths about Atlantis etc that most current day people dismiss as just airy fairy legends could in fact have been real places that can be found if people try hard enough.

I knew it was a long ass post so I didn't post it in any of the ufo forums. But damnit I think it's fascinating. Who cares if it takes 3 months to read? *designs his new Variable fighter to combat the aliens* http://slate.msn.com/?id=2072733 Can't wait to go aboard SDF 1. *practices Will Smith 'alien punches' from ID4.*

I was about to ask this connection in the newbie thread. Following are a number of Links I had planned on posting in a ufo forum for dicussion... cut and pasted for entertainment purpose only. (not meant to offend people's beliefs) http://www.alienresistance.org/sons_of_seth.htm http://xfacts.com/old/index.html (many images of ufos in paintings. Why do they stretch back so far?) Clearly this freaks some people out. Read about the coming of the alien invasion. http://www.mt.net/~watcher/ I have a theory that macross was similar to roswell ufo crash in 1947. The gift of antigrav is like the holy grail because it would mean you could lift ships and blocks with ease. See my theory is that if the existance of giant beings was literal it may give an alternate explanation as to how ancient monuments like the pyramids were built since the size of the blocks is too large for current puny man. But the problem is the control of information because it would conflict with the current evolution theory. I have an interest in ooparts (out of place artifacts) and ufos and after seeing macross TV series again I was debating with a friend the story symbolism of the zentreadi in relation to the human race. (they like the decepticons in transformers, were the "demons" because they could fly (while most autobots, like humans, can't) and served as the bad guys or fallen angels waging the war on earth. The autobots were pretty much less military than the decepticons.) Now, here are a variety of links on demonic giants (nephilim). They were found to have 2 sets of teeth and 6 fingers and 6 toes on each hand and foot who once roamed earth and were worshipped as the "gods". From what I've read about them was that they were cannibals, trouble makers, and warlike, and they fed on humans. Think of these as the real-life Zentraedi. (openly refferred to as "satan's dolls" in the "Macross" anime curiously, heh.) In that story the "aliens" stemmed from a "protoculture"(an earlier advanced civilisation) when the civilisation had reached its peak. This advanced civilisation began to create a warlike race of giant human-looking clones that they could serve as that civilisation's military. Genetic experiments which would be the beginnings of the Zentreadi: the warlike aliens who eventually turned against the protoculture and forgot all about thier past. haha http://www.s8int.com/giants1.html ^good pictures here http://www.stevequayle.com/Giants/pics/giants.html ^pics of giants spanning history. http://www.stevequayle.com/Giants/pics/skulls.html ^skulls of ancient humans with big brains http://www.rialian.com/rnboyd/giants.pdf ^ shows a 12 footer. In the macross compendium the super zentradi had 1 unique problem: They needed to feed on souls to maintain thier enormous power...hrmm... http://www.netscientia.com/orgins ^This is interesting parrallel to the existence of giants. Flying machines were common in ancient times. How could this be? Maybe they brought knowledge and technology and have hidden it from the masses? another interesting article on ancient astronauts: Now I'm thinking if the protoculture in macross were really civilised and at the peak of thier wisdom, they could have also been responsible for populating other planets with life. We only know of thier Evil series, the Zentreadi, thier meddling with human DNA, but what about other projects on other planets? The protoculture could have made chimeras and half men half animal species too. http://www.abovetopsecret.com/forum/thread42842/pg1 ^ debates on ancients astronauts relation to religions. Mars Pyramids = mirror of Egypt Pyramids - "as above, so below": http://www.mt.net/~watcher/pyramid.html ^that is a favourite of mine. In magic, the heaven's are a reflection of what's on earth. The microcosm and macrocosm. Whatever was placed on earth may also have an equivalent in heaven. Now in the macross compendium, the global civial war on earth mirrored the war in heaven(space) that the stellar republic were having....this means that themes of magic has always been a part of the macross series right from the begining. Now if you've seen the movie "Mission to Mars" you will notice them giving credit of the face on marsto the greys, just by looking at how 'alien' the shape of the face in the movie looks. "they seeded earth" Do greys want credit for the creation of life? Maybe the greys are claiming ownership of the world and in the future there will be a biblical war of armageddon with humans fighting against them..food for thought. now here's the scary thing:..... http://www.radioliberty.com/stones.htm ^the plan calls for the population to be reduced to 500,000,000. How do you think "they" will accomplish this? Whoever put that there intends to weaken the human race before the invasion....argh..*cue spooky xfiles theme music*

Newbie Questions on Macross
1/1 LowViz Lurker replied to Roy Focker's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
I ask because the sdf1 looked all beat up and crippled (with little pieces breaking off) after the destrction of Bodol's ship so I would say the barrier was only enough to absorb some damage but not protect entirely. Nothing is ever pefect. In "Global report" he mentions working on a barrier that can cover the entire ship. I found that to be interesting because if they could perfect this technology, it would make PPB obsolete provided there were no limits to having a barrier for a whole ship. I'm thinking the sdf1 is maybe similar to the alien ship in independance day (it had some kind of permanent force field) only the difference here might be that the full barrier for SDF1 can't be sustained for long periods of time if used to cover the whole thing. As for the Sharon Apple Incident: It's an interesting weakness of human weapons with regards to the self aware AI that managed to take control of all the computers. In independance day all they needed to beat the aliens was a virus (probably a microsoft windows program lol) to kill it's defenses. Now if any future aliens want a crack at exposing SDF weaknesses they need only to create AI weapons or virii. It doesn't go into much detail into how Sharon could control everything, but I'm guessing she used a combination of "manchurian candidate-style" hypnosis/mindcontrol (of the crew, similar to the crowds in the concert who looked half drugged imo ) and terminator 3-style hacking. I don't quite get why the guards would want to shoot myung in the elevator unless they were given subliminal messages to kill through some form of hypnosis. -
Newbie Questions on Macross
1/1 LowViz Lurker replied to Roy Focker's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
I want to know about the limits of the pinpoint barrier system and whether a giant green spot could be placed on a mech to cover its whole body to make it theoretically invincible. They managed to create a barrier that covered the whole sdf1 in "force of arms", so why not the whole earth? You'd think with all the money and resources they have to spend to send giant megaroads, and colony ships, they could make earth 1 giant SDF and fold the whole planet to another part of the universe. Combined with grand cannons on all sides, it would make for one awesome weapon (like a macross equivalent to the deathstar in star wars) lol If they used this PPB trick, bowman could have destroyed the ghost with a kamikaze attack and not hurt himself in the process in M+ OVA. I would have like him to have defeated the drone similar to the character in mad max 2 (ie crashes directly into the enemy, is injured, but survives somehow.) Maybe bowman's still alive and is just hiding? Could it be possible he ejected before the thing exploded and ended up marrying lucy and having kids with her after Dyson dropped the crazy stalker? Perhaps like (the robotech version of) britai, he got metal plates on his face from the injury of the explosions and wanders around having lost his memory of the incident, but a side effect of that is his temper is gone? The ending of the OVA didn't tie things up! And which events are canon in Macross plus? OVA or movie version? -

Argh! <--me after having read days worth of text about all the alternate dimensions that don't exist. *Awakens from the matrix* It was traumatic enough to discover the fake robotech universe was not real, but now there are faked timelines too. *Bangs head on desk*
