  1. ***ahem** back to reality.. If you had a voice like david Attinborough? the wildlife presenter in your mind while reading it, thats pretty close to how I was thinking These kits are great fun I think, I am looking forward to trying to get all of the kits in this size! Thanks for looking, suggestions are appreciated, but often ignored... .... KIDDING hehe, but seriously, im always eager for input that can make a kit better. Im picking up so much stuff from the others on this board in the modeling section its not funny, hence why I like showing my results, cuz its directly related to what im reading and seein here! Im actually trying to find some of those magnets I saw in williams thread cuz im trying to get a VF0 as well! Oh, so many kits, so little paint left.... heh So thanks, and keep models a' rollin out folks! Sam
  2. Now for the last shot of the evening, he has become quite impatient and decided to loosely join the figure together, so as to show to the audience what the figure will look like assembled. Please, do not do this yourself, this man is a practiced fool, and no one should assemble a model kit so soon after painting, for fear of irrepairable finger prints..
  3. Next the artist wants to show the dry brushing he used on the wheels using, on the left, black base with titanium silver drybrush, and on the right, Gunmetal base with titanium silver drybrush.. Unsure of which he likes better, he will continue to go back and forth for probably another few weeks, like the usual jelly minded twit that he is, until he reaches a final decision... Notice also the exhausts which have been done with the same technique, using black as base...
  4. Next we have a close up of the leg armour, and its here you can see that the darker colour has been run around the outside edge of most of the panels, to try and give the illusion of depth.. the artist has obviosly been sniffing too much paint because being a model, it already has depth.. so its quite pointless really..
  5. Howdy, welcome back to Sams little time of show and tell, where he will crap on regardless of if anyone is listening, on the off chance that some one is... What we shall be presenting today is the 1/15 Ride Armour kit of Stik/Scott Bernard, a lovely little kit of nice proportions and reasonably easy construction. This first shot will illustrate a few of the parts that have been sprayed in the base colour, as well as a quick 'panel lining' in a darker shade.. While it is tempting to handle the pieces shortly after spraying, the artist has withheld the urge until the paints are dry, occupying himself by swatting a damn pesty fly away that has been hounding him all night... *swatt, swatt smash CRASHHHHHH.*
  6. Well, another day, another spray I didn't like how the shading came up before, so I used the tamiya colour 'smoke' and did the panel lining over the fresh coat of white I put on after I had puttied up*still not the best puttier, but getting there * I am really happy how it looks actually! being a see through colour that tints, its quite effective I think Anyhoo, I also have in my new box of paints the Gunmetal, basically black mixed with silver chrome, and titanium silver, which i proceeded to do up the gunpod in, to give it a nice 'used metal rifle' look. First layer in Gunmetal, then drybrush titanium, if you can call my technique 'dry'.. i like it liberal LOL... im quite happy how it turned out as well! All that is really left I guess it to do oil wash, add the red hikaru stripe details, few clear coats in matte, and a little bit of touch up colour. Oh, details like the number painting as well! Let me know what y'all think! Hopefully will be finished completely by the weekend... Sam
  7. Sam

    Custom SV-51

Very nice. WOuld have taken a lot of work for that camo I reckon! Sam
  8. Its a purtee colour, fer sure Maybe the flash is making it look brighter than it is, thats what usually happens when i take shots. I would like to see the final product =) Sam
  9. *weighs up poseability, weighs up paint chipping* .........with a toy like this, u just cant keep ur hands off it I gots one and its so nice.. I keep looking round the cheapy stores for a decent trailor for Optimus! Pity the trailor wouldn't transform even it I got it.... unless... ...maybe if I wish hard enough it WOULD transform without falling off the bench onto the ground into a million bits, its secondary mode of 'blasted by megatron' disguise. You'll love it mate Sam
  10. last shot for now showing the shoulder armour which needs to be filed out so it will sit on the shoulder without scratching paint off or anything,.. its such a tight fit! but thats it for now, got to go to work, but hopefully tomorrow, my day off, I will be able to do more and start painting it up more, make it look good, now some of the darn sanding is out of the way! Sam
  11. sorry bout this blurry shot, it should show where the putty has filled the massive hole above the leg...
  12. heh, yeh, he is. Now i just got my putty from the other day, and have used putty for basically the first time, and its really good! its the curving putty in a tube, and am also using it for building up resin figure models... good stuff! The following pix show the front nose and legs, how there were massive gaps in both, but thanks to the magic of putty, are only a memory!
  13. hmm , shower scenes are always removed, thats something that was taken out of Mospeada too And after watching that little ad, I hope I never come across a lady that has a chest like that! scaaaaaaaaaaaary but from the looks of things the face sculpt looks kinda ok really, all things considered thanks for sharing MSW, I am now quite looking forward to getting the kits in the mail =) I will show pix after I have made at least one, just to share Hey, Ewilen, do you mind me asking how much u were able to get the S.C ADV DVDs *holy cow, look at all the acronyms *? I found a copy sold by a place called..um.. DVDSOON, and would be under $60USD shipped? is that would u got em for? Or there are better deals to be had. Kinda flying in the dark, not sure if to try and get or not.? Sounds like it wouldn't be bad from what everyone is saying. I also have the Robotech and Mospeada collections they released a while ago..so this would round out the collection. Except then I would need to get the oringal Macross. geez.. I should stop thinking.. it costs too much Thanks Sam
  14. I kinda did it both ways. The armour I did in the dark blue colour, then highlighted edges, and with the valk*so far* I did the body its white then shaded the grey,.. but I end up going over in white again anyway, until im satisfied! I just got my liquid putty last night, and im experimenting in filling up little 'indentations' that are above the leg, on the outside of the leg? U know where i mean? Also the body didn't join very well, had a terrible seam and while it cant be seen for the most part, its a good experiment for getting techniques down I will take some shots tonight after I have cleaned up the putty to indicate, but it works well so far So have u started painting? Sam
  15. It would be nice i reckon if*now macross lovers dont stone me here* the robotech voice dubbing was redone for the series, with less irritating voices, cuz im sure with the better sound recording now a days these shows could be a lot more enjoyable. I know this wouldn't happen, just saying.. The reason I say this is cuz I think thats what I remember SC annoying me with. Dana. Everytime she opened her mouth. or maybe im exagerating, but im sure u get the point! But, based on what being said, do you guys reckon this is a good deal or bad steal??? http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi...e=STRK:MEBWN:IT And Ewilen, im always up for a boob flash so im downloading the movie file as we speak! EXO, does ur kit have removeable armour? Sam EDIT, after downloading that add, I know the story, thanks for the link! =)
  16. 1J with bodyguard *side note: this batau figure is effin AWESOME! non poseable, but really well done! Sam
  17. Valk view... damn i need to do those panel lines badly.. just too tired to be bothered till my next day off lol!
  18. Probably haven't done enough on this figure to really see, but I have basically started paintin the actual valk now, I base coated the white, then shaded with grey, but notice how theres 'too much' grey. I need to do a re coat in white to elimate some of the grey, feather it out so to speak, which im finding hard to do with these small models! 1/72 is so much easier ! The armour is basically finished except the shoulder missiles, im still waiting for some putty to arrive to fix something, and I got to use the green and silver for the eye piece, looks cool! but need to tidy up around the edges by hand, do a oil wash for details, dull coat it, and will be done! Thanks for looking! Comments welcome as always =) Sam
  19. *beams a smile* Thanks for the compliment, yeh, I had to paint it like that cuz there was no stickers or decals. At least its a fairly 'basic' emblem so i was lucky Sam
  20. Awesome placement... for some reason i remember a line from Goonies?? or something "kick him in nards" "Wolfmen dont have nards" "just DO IT" craaaackkkk "oh, Wolfmans got nards" hehe cracked me up as a kid. Sam oh oh, its cool how they have their toys, never knew that! Did you say the models armour can be removed? did i read that wrong?
  21. So have either of you two watched the oringinal southern cross, un roboteched? Is it worth trying to find? I must say as part of the macross saga it was my , dare I say, least favourite, but nonetheless it still had some cool mecha and armour, so was wondering if the original is good? Sam
  22. Wowzers Ewilen, thanks, that should keep me occupied for a bit! Thanks for the offer EXO, dont go to any trouble, but if you do, thanks!! Has anyone *built* any though? And theres a bioroid model! how cool is that! Sam
  23. I hope someone knows what im talking bout? Basically the models brought out to represent the armour they wore in Southern Cross? Thanks in advance, feel free just to leave a link if need be, I just couldn't see it on the web at all? Sam
  24. I think this guy likes Rei. My intuition tells me so. I gots me two coming in the mail, was thinking that if I got the 1/60 Queadlunn, maybe she would fit? Anyone tried that? Sam edit got rid of accidental quote
  25. thanks. Me likes friendly feedback i stared doing mylenes valk, and didn't have the instructions, and i ended up gluing the wrong poly joint in!! thankfully I just replaced the knife blade in my hobby knife, and the glue wasn't set completely *sigh* It will probably be my next 'progress shots' one, other than my little Super deformed Armoured 1J I got up as well, need to put up its next shot.. too tired now but..work tomorrow.. ugh... So are we gonna be able to get that models gallery done? I iwll have to repaint my old models with the techniques i have now though before i post anythign other than what everyone has already seen...LOL I hope we can but, in all seriousness Sam
