  1. That's sad news. I actually got to talk to him once at a convention and get his autograph. I have gone to a couple of conventions and he was the friendliest actor I ever encountered. Really a class act.
  2. Great looking camo scheme Kylwell!
  3. Looks like a great buildup thread. Too bad I can't read the captions! By the way, welcome to the "New and Improved" MW forum!
  4. That is a stunning piece of craftmanship! Amazing work, you are truly talented.
  5. Those are great, but...... That Gerwalk needs a pilot!! j/k I really like the finish on those. Just the right amount of texture/weathering. Good job!
  6. Well, with that offer, I would gladly take care of repacking and shipping! But, I'm in St. Louis MO. The heart of Middle America, so I'm sure you could ship it cheaper to someone on the East coast. I'm sure we will be able to find a trustworthy person who would put out a little effort for the rest of us resin heads.
  7. Ah, Maybe I was thinking of HO, but that would end up being too big probably to fit in the 1/100 cockpit. WOW! Checked that website some more, and those 1/100 figures are pretty pricey. Anyway, they are out there, Good luck.
  8. A quick search brought this up:http://www.scalelink.co.uk/acatalog/Preiser_Figures_1_100_1_160.html Not sure if this site ships to the U.S. I have some 1/72 Preiser figures and they are great!
  9. Maybe, I know one of the railroad scales is close. Isn't HO like 1/76 scale?
  10. Hey there RT-J, Welcome to the boards! For the simulated bullet exits, I would suggest using heavy aluminum foil. Cut out the area you are going to represent as damaged and replace with the aluminum foil. Cut, tear and bend it to the desired shape. The hands on that model are the worst. Your easiest option may be to get a cheap 1/144 scale Gundam kit and use the hands from that. There are some aftermarket hands available, but I don't know the cost or where to get them from, Hobby Link Japan maybe, but the price won't be cheap. As for figures, I know Imai used to put out a 1/100 scale figure set and it was included in the Macross or Robotech Factory model kits (very hard to find). You may look into N scale railroad figures. I believe they are 1/96 scale. Do a search for Preiser model figures. They have some of the best. Good luck, and please be sure to share your results! edit: I thought Arii put out the figures, but Chas is right-it's Imai
  11. GunnerX that F-14 looks awesome! Did you preshade those panel lines? They look just right. Can't wait to see it finished.
  12. That's a great start! There is a 1/72 scale kit of the spartan, but it is pretty hard to find. There is also a 1/100 scale kit that is pretty easy to find. Either one may help you with references. There are some good lineart images out there too that would be good for references. What are you building this out of? Sheet styrene? The hand looks like it was carved. Keep up the good work!
  13. Keira Knightley is my choice too! Now what were we talking about?
  14. I voted for the Darth Maul fight. Obi-Wan vs. Anakin is a close second and then Vader vs. Luke in ROTJ The Darth Maul fight was full of very quick and realistic moves (for Star Wars)and I think the music used in those scenes put it over the top. It's one of those times when the music in a movie really draws you in and affects you along with the action on screen.
  15. I'm definitely interested. Do you have any time frame for when the parts will be ready? Also, Just a suggestion here. Would it be possible, and cheaper to have US kits shipped in bulk to one trustworthy person who could then ship out to individuals?
  16. To me, this seems to be in the same style as some of the covers of the Entertainment Bible books. (I think that's right ) Anyway, very cool!
  17. Wow! That does look great! Thanks for sharing and welcome to the boards! I especially like the thumb modification. I know too many mecha models have hands with silly placement or molding. Keep up the great work!
  18. Hey RL1, I'd try and return that toy if possible, but if they won't take it I'd just shake it off. If you are serious about collecting some Macross toys you'll be spending more on better items down the road. Don't let this sour you on collecting. With a little research and keeping your eyes open you'll probably get some good bargains as you go along too. Enjoy the toy you have for now. They really are solid, well built and hey..that's the old school valk most of us grew up with and loved. When you get a chance, buy a Yamato 1/48 valk. This is a good time for you if you like the brownie because that will be released in August. Check on these boards for some trusted sellers and I promise you won't be disappointed. Good luck in your future collecting!

    SpiderBug

Wow! It must be nice to have a free workbench to mass produce some valks! And a perfect atmosphere too, a hangar. And to be on the clock while your building...priceless! I'd love to see a pic of the assembly line.
  20. I'm guessing you're talking about the 1/100 scale plastic kit. If I remember correctly, the front interior of the missle pods are what really need attention. The molded in missle tips just look totally fake. That's where I would concentrate my efforts first. As for the back near the thrusters. I suppose you could use some thin plastic strips glued in to look like structural parts of the pod's frame. I think it would be a tight fit to put too much more in there. Maybe use a thin piece of wire to look like lines running to the thrusters' base/connection joint. I hope that makes sense. A picture of the spot you are talking about would help. Just use your imagination and have fun! edit: Oh yeah! Welcome to the boards too! Keep posting pics and questions. There are a lot of friendly model builders here who will help however we can.
  21. Looks fantastic Cap! You are truly an artist! I can't believe how fast you created this!
  22. Takin' off of work tomorrow. Watching the first two prequels with my brother and cousin during the day. Whole family is going to the 7:15 PM show in the evening!
  23. This is looking fantastic! I'm keeping my eyes on this thread for sure. Can't wait to see the finished product.
  24. Well, I've been married for 13 loooong years (or as I say foooor-eeeev-eeerrr) But a big reason for that is because my wife is fantastic. She is used to my collecting geekdom. When we were dating she read all of my X-Men comic books so that she could understand what my friends and I were talking about. When the "new" Star Wars toys started coming out she bought them for me. I have managed to get a shelf to display my Star Wars figures in the bedroom, but that was pushing it. She just insists that I keep everything else in the basement, and she has begun to give me looks when I buy a new model because I haven't built many lately (no time) I keep the Yamato valks kind of on the down low so she doesn't realize how much I've spent on those. She doesn't really enjoy anime, but she doesn't give me any trouble about it. I don't mind having something to enjoy by myself and with my son. She is very understanding about the geeky things I'm into and she even joins in whenever she likes it too. So I guess I'm one of the Lucky SOBs here too.
  25. HWR MKII That is one bitchin' Camaro! (couldn't resist) it really does look great though. Is your real one with you overseas, or is it back home in the states waiting for your return? Your other models look good too. it looks like you've done a partickularly nice job on the star destoyer. That's kind of a nasty kit as-is. The shuttle looks great. IMO the Imp shuttle is the best AMT kit out-of-the box. All the rest need tons of work just to get the parts to meet up.
