  1. OK, this really looks great, but... why would you divide the cast vertically down the entire length instead of horizontally where there is a natural separation? Can you say major seam to fill!? Anyway, still very interesting. I will be awaiting more information.
  2. That looks very interesting. One of my favorite capitol ships actually. It would be great to have a proper version of it as opposed to the old plastic kit.
  3. The Dover White actually looks pretty close to me.
  4. Post a pic of the Patlabor kit you are looking for. I may be able to help you out if it is the kit I am thinking of.
  5. Heh, that's pretty funny! It's kind of like "Robotech Engrish"
  6. I saw him doing an ad for Brown and Crouppen, a local law firm here in St. Louis. The funny thing is one of the lawyers (Terry Crouppen) used to do the commercials for his firm and over the years we've seen him expand just like Shatner! Still, Shatner's the man!
  7. Honneamise, That looks great! Is that small stand sturdy enough to hold up the Oberth? I'd be afraid that it would tip easily! Anyway, great work. Can't wait until I can start on mine. (along with several other kits )
  8. That post-shading technique really brings the booster to life! Great work as always Wm!
  9. Lookin' good Ido! This is a very useful thread "saves for reference"
  10. I got my kit yesterday too. Thanks guys on a job well done. And thanks Grayson for the extra grocery bags! I didn't have much time to look over the kit, but it looks great! Honneamise, you have a lot of talent. I'll be looking for your next project!
  11. Several of my favorites have been mentioned already. G.R.R. Martin's Song of fire and ice is truly an epic and truly great, but that's fantasy not Sci-fi. My nomination is for two Arthur C. Clarke epics. One of my all-time favorite authors. I'm surprised they haven't been mentioned yet. The Rama series - 1. Rendezvous with Rama (1972) 2. Rama II (1989) (with Gentry Lee) 3. The Garden of Rama (1991) (with Gentry Lee) 4. Rama Revealed (1993) (with Gentry Lee) and of course the Space Odyssey - 1. 2001: A Space Odyssey (1968) 2. 2010: Odyssey Two (1982) 3. 2061: Odyssey Three (1985) 4. 3001: The Final Odyssey (1996) These are some of the best and far reaching series I have ever read. These along with Asimov's books are very much "hard" science fiction. Meaning the subjects and technology are extrapolated from real scientific theories and possibilities.
  12. Sorry, but I think that having those questions and replies in the thread and then being able to see the results is the best way to follow the build up thread. Everyone needs to see the questions that are asked and then the results that occur. That way there aren't fifty people asking the same question over and over and also someone else who may have a suggestion can chime in and help out.
  13. Very nice flight line! The dark Angel Bird looks great. It is an interesting change in the color scheme. I really like the fast packs on the next valk in line. Any way we can get some pics of that one. Or all of them for that matter!
  14. I have to agree with Mr. Hintgen. The real time in progress build are very much more useful than a completed submission of a finished project. The step by step and Q & A method gives the best opportunity for extra detailed descriptions where needed. The ideal method would be to let the build-ups progress in the forum and then have it be archived on the main site when complete. I realize that may be another step and complication for our good volunteer mods and site admins, but I think that would result in the best submissions to the site. Does anyone know of an easy way to convert a thread into a suitable form for a submission to the main site? I can see the point in combining the how to toys and how to models sections. Many of the techniques can be shared. However, I don't think that limiting the types of posts is going to be a good idea. In fact I have been kind of disappointed recently by a couple of posts that were removed from the model section because they weren't about Macross models. Don't get me wrong, I see the need to stay on topic, but a meaningful post about a method or model that could be related or used with Macross modeling should still be in the model section, not the other anime section. Well, just my $.02 I wish to thank the mods and admins for the service they provide to the rest of us and this post is just intended as some friendly constructive input. Hope it helps.
  15. That looks great LTSO! The finish is really reminiscent of a real WWII naval battleship. I really have to get that kit sometime. (after the 1/72 Monster and several other items though ) Can you give a quick impression of the kit?
  16. Excellent website Honneamise. You are a very multi-talented artist! Your X-Wing is great! It's nice to see Biggs get some attention. You should try a Macross painting! Do you have a price range for your paintings? Do you sell your paintings?
  17. This build up is looking very good. I'm enjoying this thread. Don't worry about your pictures, they look fine to me. You are doing a good job of keeping those small pieces in focus.
  18. Me too. I've been wracking my brain trying to come up with a reason to pick up those tracks. I have a vague idea of using them as part of the background/setting in a diorama. A diorama of what..I have no clue. they just look so darn cool! HWR, you should propose a contest for the most imaginative use of your spare tracks!
  19. I'm glad that you and your family are safe. Many others are not so lucky. My prayers go out for you and everyone affected by this disaster. Good luck and if you hear of anyway we can help, you or others in the area, please post the info so that some of us can participate in the relief effort.
  20. Lookin' great!
  21. You're probably looking for the Valkyrie Factory. It's a great reference site with pictures of boxed and loose toys and models from about every line even remotely related to Macross. Unfortunately it looks like the site is down for now. Let's hope it returns to us soon. It would be a shame if all that great info and pics were lost. http://www.menet.umn.edu/~ngo/index.html
  22. That looks really great! It sure is a big kit in 1/48 scale! You are certainly a master modeler IMHO.
  23. Hey, thanks for the pics. There is an astounding amount of detail on that little kit! The pilot is especially great. Will you be building it soon? I'd be really interested in seeing some good pics of the launch base built up.
  24. There was also the spiderbug kit. Mastered by GH and casted by JesseMeyers.(IIRC) Great little kit. Then there is also an improved DYRL launch arm supposedly in the works. Just keep your eyes open and you probably won't miss anything. There seems to be ample time to get in on a new project if you wish.
  25. Those are neat, but they look very fragile. Amazing work!
