welcome to macross world! don't buy toynami/robotech stuff, stick with the yamato/macross toys...you can't lose. the 1/48's are nice as far as detail goes and pretty much the best valkyrie toy to date. the 1/60's are nice as far as accuracy and proportion goes. i collect both, i have many of each, and love them all. if you're a completist, go with the 1/60's since they made every valk in that scale but you should pick up atleast a 1/48. the 1/48's is still up in the air as far as every-valk-known-to-man, but we all have our fingers crossed for more future releases. grey panel lines? try using a pencil, it works nice and you can erase your mistakes. you can try using the gundam markers but you gotta have some steady hands and be super quick cleaning up any errors...i'm talking like 1 to 2 seconds cause it dries too fast. if you want to make it professional looking, well then, i'm really not the person to ask. try asking some of the dudes in the model section, most of those guys got mad skills and they offer custom painting services.

so let me be the first to ask you this straight up.... are you a drug dealer? -
its sad, its disgusting, yet its funny as hell! i've gone as far as the living room...well one time i brought one into the bedroom just to stare at it before i went to bed.
-
you new here? welcome to macrossworld... where everyone likes to bitch.
-
hahaha, go buy one and find out... yup! if you do get one, make sure to wear gloves and a blind fold. gloves so you can't actually feel the craptastic-ness, a blindfold so it doesn't bother your eyes when you look at it.

its all trial and error my friends. matching any paint job is hit or miss. if you're planning to paint an entire valk grey, no problem, but matching one little patch is a pain in the butt. as far as matching the blueish paint they used, just mix the grey that you have left with a tiny(i'm tlaking teenie weenie) touch of blue.

Why? You can take off those FPs and pu tthe GBP-01 armor on. Well then again, it is why I have a bunch of VF-1J Hikarus. I just use the FP armor on my LVs. indeed! no reason to buy the regular 1J hikkie when you can get the super version, unless you're a idiot like me and had to have the blue box. and believe me, the extra TV FP's come in handy. i.e LV, TV roy, etc...

welcome to macrossworld! may your wallet be kind to you during your stay.

i don't know if the CF is going to be released at all since its probably the worst selling valk out of the 1/60 line. yamato might take it as a lesson learned and not bother releasing it. hopefully i'm talking out of my ass and yamato will prove me wrong and release the sucker. i just want a CF just so i don't have to paint one myself. as far as what happens in macross, happens in robotech... i wouldn't know? i haven't seen the macross series yet. i don't really have $120 to throw away on DVD's when i got more toys to buy. BTW, i was talking about a scene in macross DYRL, not the macross series.

the missiles disappearing was meant to be a joke to those in the perfect transformation crowd. IIRC, in DYRL when they're on the zent. spaceship roy opens his wings and shoots a missile straight up to clear a path for hikaru and friends. the missiles then disappear in the animation while hes battling the zentradi and you never see it again. the same thing happens in robotech. the valks swoop in firing missile like crazy(theres a endless supply as well) TF in battroid, the missiles disappear again, then the missiles magically reappear when they TF again. not all the time, but sometimes. anyhow, just trying to make a point that theres no such thing as a perfect transformation valkyrie. maybe the HCM that ewilen is speaking of(i don't own one so i wouldn't know). the only macross toy(not technically macross but still) that i know of that has perfect TF, that stores every accessory that it comes with is the large gakken cyclone, thats why its the world greatest TF toy ever made IMHO. back on topic, i like the foam idea. i got some lying around somewhere so i'll give it a whirl. the shoulder pads on the 1/60 GBP is kind of bleh since it limits the articulation for the arms. good stuff!

check out this shill bidding... click this all the 0 feedback bidders on the auction registered around the same time earlier this month. then check out how that the same member(magic_tech) from the macross auction is in his camera auction. click this. i hate this shiet! ADDED: i've reported him to ebay and sent him a nice email explaining all the rookie mistakes he made. who the heck waits 10 minutes after the auction ends to make a 2nd chance offer? he took me for a sucker, now i got the ebay PD on his shill bidding ass. also, his ebay ID says hes in NY, so i asked if i could pick it up. he tells me he lives in CA and working in HK now....really? i almost believe you're lying ass. watch out for these ebay user names... crazy-r selling account magic_tech shill bidding account i think hes got some more so keep your eyes pealed on ebay for this fool. ADDED: so this guy emails me and insists that this other bidder(magic_tech) has been out to get him by bidding on all his auctions and has been nothing but a problem. yeah, what a nuisance, i hate it when some random folk on ebay comes along and tries to bid on all my auctions thereby jacking up the price. the guys an idiot. he actually tried to say, i only have 1 computer and that the IP addresses dont' match for him or his shill bidding account. i don't know about you guys but i have access to about 10 computers.....all with different IP addresses.

well thats a bunch of bad news. i rather like them...though they are kind of pricey for the size. well it looks like yet another company to produce an incomplete macross collection. what else is new

i can't believe people are actually complaining about having to taking off the nose cone. honestly, its not that big of a deal. i rather like the idea of having to remove the nosecone simply due to the fact that it won't look ridiculously big. second, the bigger the crotch armor, the less poseable it'll be. as far as people complaining about having to swap out parts...hello? if you put the FP and/or GBP armor on/off, you're swapping out parts. one more piece to put on or take off really won't kill you. "yeah but what about it being perfect transformation?" to that i say... whats the deal with the gunpod strap? the intake covers? why can't the RMS missile magically disappear into the wings like it does in the show? and where the heck do i put the little neck brace thingy? in otherwords, it never was "perfect transformation" to begin with and it hasn't stopped anyone from buying them.

i wouldn't know. no limp wrist here, i don't like the "chicken hands" so i got me a bunch of TV hands from rohby instead.
-
and people wonder why we lose posters...
-
why yes they do! i put the regular strike pack on the LV and it look kind of bleh. then the TV armor came out and it looks 100 times better on the LV IMO. i'd stick with picking up some super 1J's so you get a bunch of TV FP's. keep 1 set for the hikaru, 1 set for a TV roy, and 1 set for the LV. if you got the clear FP's you can slap them on the LV(it looks awesome!) and use the extra booster and leg covers to hook up your M&/orM with the TV color covers instead of the red and/or blue.
-
thanks chowser! now all i need is the 1S, 1A and i'm not bothering to get the 19A, then my collection will be complete. 1J hikkie? thats what i was wondering too, they made the M&M's so why not the hikkie? and why no 1A max? i'm hoping they put out the rest of the valks sometime soon...these suckers are pretty cool and swooshable too!
-
okay, i tried the search function but got nadda. does anyone know/have a list of all the doyusha valks to date? and are they planning to make any new ones? thanks!
-
i think he was kidding.... in case anyone hasn't heard, the 1/60s are the bestest!
-
the 1/60 FPs are coming out on the exact same day as the yf-19 FP.

I hope you're right, but IF Yamato does the GBP right, then it will be a huge chunk of plastic and die cast. IF they do it right, then it better have all the main hatches open, and all removeable missiles/grenades etc. IF they do it right, it should have removeable engine covers for the booster packs, and perhaps even for the leg or arm armors. Now, the Die Cast is questionable, more than likely they will use the same die cast pins they use to connect the booster packs in the FP set, and that will be the bulk of the die cast content. IF all that happens, then I bet it will be pretty spendy. Like I said, I hope you're right, but I will be absolutely floored if it comes in under $100. Quiet you fool! Yamato spies are listening!!! Umm...yeah. *cough**cough*. These things suck! Nose-cone removal?! I'll only pay....$20 for each!! OMG, someone has some sense. i really can't see the GBP selling for more than the FP's. the FP got all sorts of features/gimmicks while the GBP is just a hunk of sculpted plastic that has some opening hatches....which isn't very much IMHO. even if they make it so the mini-missile are removeable, that still wouldn't justify a high price tag. in all honesty i can't see them selling for more than $50, $60 tops or atleast thats the maximum amount i'd be willing to pay.

i'm so glad you posted that cause i sure did ask one of my friends to pick this up as a christmas gift for me. phew, that was a close one. did they really fubar the music in the show like that? was it just the intro? or all the through every single episode?

just use a thin blade to pry the rectangular piece up, underneath it is a screw, unscrew it, then your good to go. theres only one spring in there(for the ratchet knee joint) so you might want to take the screw at the knee joint out last, just to be safe. the assembly is pretty cut and dry, everything fits like its suppose to, so you should be able to reassemble it without too much trouble.
