this being the 7894564887464th time its come up, yamato is the way to go. if you're unsure?, buy an MPC(cheapest one, $30 at most) and make a comparison and you'll know for sure.

Yamato Escaflowne or Hasbro MPC Optimus Prime?
do not disturb replied to shiyao's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
yeah, thats the US version($50 or less), we're talking about the japanese version($100 or so). yeah, they're almost the same but to my knowledge, the japanese version has taller smoke stacks and it doesn't have any battle damage on it. -

Bah! That was before the girlfriend moved in! Now there's candles, coasters, doily-like things, and the Raiders of the Lost Ark poster has been replaced with a friggin' cat!!! H dude, she got pictures of flowers on my walls right now and we don't even live together. at this point, i'd take a cat and some candles. -

well the newer ones maybe? i have a 21" trinitron from like 87 or something and it still works like its brand new, i've never had a single problem with it. has sony's quality gotten that bad? like i said, i haven't shopped around for a new TV in ages but i figured sony would hold up. oh well, no wega for me i guess. -

I tried three 36" Wega tubes before I settled on the Sony KP-53HS10 (which is now discontinued). I'd urge you to stay away from tubes that large. Color purity in the corners (pink glows, etc.) is tough to get on a tube that big. Anything over 32", and I strongly recommend a rear-projection TV (RPTV). When I finally turned away from tubes, I realized that I could get a bigger picture and actually use less space than a tube like the Wega. my 53" Sony RPTV isn't any "deeper" (pokes out from the wall) than the 36" tube. And, well, it's 53" vs only 36". . . and I was able to take it apart, align the optics, adjust the electronic and mechanical focus, etc. You can't do that on a tube. Of course, you can now get LCD-based RPTVs. But CRT-based RPTVs still provide superior video quality (especially in dark scenes). A lot of people are caught up in the "flat" craze too. But nothing looks quite as good as a well-tuned CRT-based RPTV. Well, actually, nothing looks better than a CRT tube. But, those are size-limited. But really, if you don't care much for picture quality, I wouldn't recommend Sony at all. . . just wander down to Costco and pick up whatever is cheapest! But, once you see a well-tuned home theater system playing widescreen anamorphic DVDs or High-Def (HD) material, you'll never want to watch on anything else ever again. H thats all rocket science to me, all i know are brand names. 36" wega sucks huh? maybe i'll save up for some kind of flat screen HDTV then. eh, who knows? i've been BS'ing about buying a new TV for the past 5 years but i like the idea of hanging my TV on the wall like a painting. -
Challenge another MW member to a fight

obviously everyone knows who i want to fight to the death but i won't mention that persons name so i don't start another flame war. it doesn't matter where cause i'll find a way to get there. weapons.....i got fists of fury! -
I sure hope so b/c I'd buy em in a second (IF they're nicely made with real clothing and tons of articulation). i never even heard of this anime until like 2 days ago when one of my friends busted out some DVD's. first thing to come to mind was "where the heck do they sell these?". so i guess that means theres nothing official then? nobody has a license or anything? i hope some company(a good one) picks it up.

When I watch anything, I watch it on whatever i have in front of me. Its not like I sit in a room full of audiovisual equipment and think what that particular DVD would be formated best on. Yeah, me too. I have a small 13" in my work room and my 27" Sony in my bedroom. I'm waiting for the cash for THIS!!! http://www.samsung.com/Products/TFTLCD/New..._0000101494.htm which will be... never! hot damn thats gotta be pricey. and to think i've been holding out to pick up a 36" wega. -

Its not like I sit in a room full of audiovisual equipment and think what that particular DVD would be formated best on. exactly! you watch where you watch. my living room has the better TV but sometimes i like to lie down watch TV in my bedroom. i don't care that the picture quality is better in one room to another. to me its like wacthing bootleg DVD's, yeah the quality sucks in the beginning but 10 minutes in, you could give two shiets. -
both my rau's stand up just fine.

BREAKING NEWS: Mt. St. Helens Erupts

my advice to those living in the area..... MOVE! -
honestly dudes, i doubt you're gonna get instructions for that thing, i doubt its even still one piece. with most lego users, they build, take some pics, then build something else. i don't even think the lure of money would convince this person to make instructions cause it would be too damn difficult. on top of that, you'd need him to make a parts list so you can find/order the pieces you need. based on the size and the build technique he used, i'd say this is atleast 1000pcs.

Yamato Escaflowne or Hasbro MPC Optimus Prime?
do not disturb replied to shiyao's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
i don't fight the urge....i just limit myself to macross and lego. if i got into TF's, it would mean the beginnning of the end for me. actually, i've really wanted the MPC prime for quite a while, i just haven't found or really bothered to look for one. i know the US version was on sale for like $20 a few months back but from what i've heard and seen, the japanese version(takara) is the way to go. if you're planning to pick up the japanese version, let me know, i'd be down to buy one with you. -

i own neither but seen and held both, and i'd go with the MPC prime. the escaflowne toy kind of bites....were talkin craptastic. as others said, if you can find it really cheap, then sure. oh, and i hope you're not shopping at image anime? the stores a total rip. -

since we're talkin about haters, i thought i'd jump in....well thats it. -
well i dragged up the link.... click me! thats where i got mine and they have a good variety of sizes, shapes, and thickness. you'll probably want to go with the disc magnets(1.59mm, thinnest available) since it will provide more surface area and a stronger hold. i opted for the 2.54mm and while they work great, i had to place the magnets in the forearm armor of the FP because it was too thick to place into the actual forearm of the valk.

The Official Yamato VB-6 Monster Thread
do not disturb replied to Montarvillois's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
okay so i got a sort of half ass solution to the floppy wings in bomber mode.... you know the "ankle section" of the monster where you have to slide the piece down towards the feet and then it clicks into place. well slide that part down but don't let it click until you fit the clip/catch piece into the hole, then click in down. check, the pic and you'll see what i'm talking about. now granted the legs/wings will have gaps showing the inside but the wings stay locked in tight. not much of a solution but it works. -
i did a review on it and i wasn't very pleased. you want to buy mine?
