1. i'm usually not down with SD stuff but this is just too cool, i'm really diggin the gunpod. wheres is rohby BTW? he used to be here all the time and make all sorts of cool stuff. i hope the BS with JM thing isn't whats keeping him away.
2. damn, you beat me to it though i was going to do it in a light tan. anyway, it looks awesome, can't wait to see the battroid pics. as far as why the FP's for a camo valk.... how about just for fun. it doesn't have to make sense or be canon for it to be cool.
3. I know you have spare -1S heads dude, wanna donate one for the cause?? 416843 hehe, i do but its an original head so i've been saving it for something else. it would be cool if someone would make the recasts available again, then i'd go crazy.
4. i'll be looking for this in the FS section...but i still need to score one of these.
5. thats looks too fresh! great job man, now all we need is someone to make a CF 1S.
6. you know which one i'm talking about, its made by takatoku, you know the robotech one.
7. i get... you're a dork you're a nerd whats wrong with you you must be a child molester...gotta love that one.
8. the problem with this is, you end up ruining the boxes because you end up opening and closing them all the time. i did this with a couple of my 1/60 boxes and they started getting thrashed so i switched to labeled ziploc bags but that got annoying so i opted to get a bunch of these suckers. the great thing about it is, it helps keep the unused accessories seperated from the used ones. i try to use the same accessories all the time instead of using new ones which keeps my stuff minty as can be. back to the topic at hand, i'm not at all upset that these are retailing for $20, i actually praised the price when these were first announced. i was excited about finally having cheaper smaller scale valks and not having to pay $100 of a 1/100 HCM. besides, if these are really craptastic, the people who are unhappy with them will dump them on ebay for next to nothing. these are the kind of toys you don't need to buy NEW as long as nothing is missing or broken, USED its fine by me.
9. talk about THE shameless plugs of shamess plugs. LOL! good luck with your auctions brother, i too am selling stuff on ebay(SW lego) to pay for this ridiculous hobby...VF-0S, VF-0A, YF-19, and the list never ends.
10. mine's crystal clear. Maybe it's just you bro. Have you had your eyes checked? 415773 same here, all the valks i have and everyone else i know who collects these have ultra clear canopies, i guess you got hosed. haha j/k
11. well i painted the shoulders first and they don't really match the plastic color or the 'leg paint'....they do but they don't. and you'll notice the visible brush strokes, this is why i hate enamel paints and prefer acrylic. then a month or so later i painted the head, the head is a pretty close match to the leg paint but nowhere near the plastic. i'm not sure how good your monitor is but its really easy to tell that the head doesn't match the chest plate. i actually thought about stripping the paint off the shoulders of a LV2 just so i can have a closer match(yeah thats nuts) but the LV2 and CF are 2 different shades of tan so it kind of defeats the purpose. i'm gonna taking brian advice and add a bit of orange in my next mix and see how it goes. hopefully i'll come a little closer.
12. LOL! matching the plastic is just too hard. heres a pic of my sad attempt....please note, its barely a close match but after days of mixing paint with little success, i had to settle for the sake of sanity.
13. you'd be amazed how many customs don't get added to the customs section here. its nobodies fault, you have to submit a bunch of pics and they have to be completed customs. completed meaning its got all the decals/stickers, basically all the bells and whistles. plus, how many of the same customs can they put in there? i know a dozen people who made a custom TV max, but one is all you really need to see. i guess if its something totally unique and hasn't been done by anyone, it would get posted but its kind of redundant to post pics of the same valk over and over again. either way, most folks will showcase their completed valks in the toys section for us to drool over. this section is predominantly for progress pics, feedback, and custom related info from fellow customizers.
14. taking into consideration of toynami past releases, i kind of knew they'd spend more money on the packaging than the toy itself. its unfortunate that they still haven't figured out why their toys end up at discount stores at 75% off the MSRP. you'd figure after the poor sales of MPC(outside of the overpaying knukleheads on ebay) and the all complaints of poor QC and craftsmenship on THEIR SITE from THEIR FANS, they get a clue and realize people want a better toy, not a fancy box. but whatever, i don't work for toynami and as far as i can tell, they just don't get the fact that this line of toys should be directed at 25+ year old(usually a bit anal-retentive)fans, and not some 12 year old who going to be intrigued by a shiney box. and you'd figure as a business, they'd look to yamato(since they're probably the most successful company with the macross license) and put out a good toy in a crappy box/packaging. *shrug* ADDED: i also dislike how they're trying to sell the FPs seperately. but its all good, whatever the price tag, we'll be seeing quite a few of them at the .99 cents store.
15. basically to have the opportunity to get them on sale/clearance, much like the japanese fans get 1/48s on sale for $90 at TRU japan. like the MPC's, we'll be able to find these on clearance at 50-75% of the MSRP. i mean, just because something has a $20 price tag doesn't mean anyone should pay $20 for it. i'll end up paying retail for the first one, then pick up the others on the discount rack like all the other toynami products.
16. some guy... haha... those two dorks were Solscud and BobePat. I wonder how long it'll be before they say that the line wsn't successful enought to warrant 26 variations. 415467 probably after they showcase prototypes at numerous comic cons over a 12 month period.
17. The way I see it its, based on the MPC leg, just ball jointed. I think you are referring to valkyrie-factory, unfortunately last time I checked its gone. man I miss that and jawjaw's site!! Ah the good ol days 415337 gone? thats why you gotta right click any resources you find, one day its there, next day its gone. i'm sure someone here saved those images, hopefully they'll see this post and pass them along to graham or one of the mods to add to the homepage.
18. it don't matter which one you get first cause you're gonna end up getting them all, macross is like pokemon, you gotta catch'em all. seriously, go with the one in your avatar, as they say, red goes faster.
19. *SNIP* thats why i said, "i realize people can get burnt out talking about the same thing over and over but thats why there are other messageboards out there." i feel you on the rudeness factor of some members....but thats forum nazis for you. i think its whack that members post those kind of responses(lock please, sigh this again, blah, etc) as if someone was putting them out for asking a question or info. it takes just as much effort if not more, to post a smartass response as it would to just answer the question or point someone in the right direction. i mean, if you're gonna help someone, just help them, its really not that hard. anyway man, i hear what you're saying as far as running out of things macross related to talk about, i actually avoid discussing macross shows, instead talk about the toys or customizing since its a broader topic with less room for arguing. the world cup, NHL, NFL, NBA, PGL, none of it is really anime related. if they kept one thread open for the worldcup, i would imagine come superbowl time, the mods will keep at least one NFL thread open as well....but thats not my call. you're always welcome to PM a mod before starting a sports/off topic thread and get the go ahead. if you're polite about it, i can't see why they would deny it, especially if its the playoffs or something.
20. Using your logic we should then get rid of the "Anime or Science Fiction" forum (thE most popular forum in MW). I hope I never see you post anything in that forum either, since you believe this should be a 'Macross only' message board. Otherwise you'll be a hypocrite and all respect would be lost for you. BUT, if you insist upon posting in that forum, then don't complain about this topic and retract your 'now moot' argument. I've heard this argument countless times "go to another forum, blah blah blah." I have yet to come across a board that's anything close to being like this, I value the opinions of its members, hence why I'd rather discuss the World Cup on here than some place I rarely visit. I really only have one love/passion, and that's Macross, everything else comes second as far as materialistic things go. Despite that, I'd still wish to discuss such topics with the rest of the members here. 415245 first and foremost, please don't take my post as an attack against you. unpopular opinion, yes i think the other anime and sci-fi section should get the boot. why? simply cause it will get rid of a lot of the folks who hang here all the time, yet never post anything pertaining to macross. don't get me wrong, its not like i hate anyone here in particular but i think its whack that people want to come here to discuss everything under the sun except macross. i realize people can get burnt out talking about the same thing over and over but thats why there are other messageboards out there. i.e. if i want to go somewhere a little more lax, the mods aren't as strict, where members can be more themselves, i go AP(animepunch). why? because for the most part, no one takes anything or anyone too seriously, therefore arguements rarely ensue and everyones cool, both the mods and members. i used to post in the off topic section back in the days but i stopped cause people get a little too riled up over there. usually its pointless arguements that have absoluting nothing to do with nothing other than someone having a superiority complex and an uncontrolable need to be heard. if you see me posting there it will mostly likely be to ask a question about a non-macross toy(probably about something southern cross or mospeada related since they aren't technically macross). its funny you keep bringing up the worldcup thread as i was following it myself. i didn't see anyone being an a-hole or arguing yet it got locked. it sucks when that happens but the worldcup is over and therefore a mod has no valid reason to keep it open. it was nice they let it go for the duration of the cup but you can't expect them to keep it open after its ended....even when theres still a bunch of fun to be had at zidane expense. the only way to keep sports threads from being locked is to have a mod who used to be a jock but seeing as macross is predominantly a geek hobby, i doubt we'll find anyone here who fits the bill.
21. looking at the pic with the valk crossing its legs, it looks like the leg design is similar to the little K&M figures. i can't find the pics of the K&M figures....whats the name of that site that has scans of every macross toy known to man? its not linked anywhere on the site and i'm pretty sure i saw them on there?
22. i honestly don't see why the topic of having an off topic section comes up so often? if you have other interests outside of macross, go to the appropriate site, register, then post your thoughts on whatever your interest, its really not that hard. i mean, why would anyone care how another macross fan feels about the outcome of american idol? or whatever off topic? and even if there was some interest, those people who are fans and want to discuss american idol would go that site and post their thoughts there. i realize people would prefer to visit one site and discuss everything they want when they want, but MW isn't a one-stop messageboard for anything that may interest someone, its for macross fans discuss all things macross.
23. Ace Combat is a fighter game for the PS2 platform. it may exist for other consoles but i'm not sure? theres been 6 games in total so far, each one besting the one before it. its really the only good flying game out there as far as consoles are concerned. you should be able to pick AC4 and AC5 for under $20 at gamestop or on ebay. AC-0 is the newest one out and from what i've read and heard about it, its totally rocks, i'm just waiting for the price to drop on that one.
24. no problem guys. I love Ace 4. I used to play it a bit too often, in a sad attempt to buy every color of every fighter. a truely fun game though. does anyone know if you can unlock the yellow scheme? 414612 i too am a AC fiend, i actually own one of every color fighter in AC4, and 4 of each fighter(and all the painte schemes) in AC5. AFAIK, the yellow squadron scheme doesn't become available until AC5. i'm not sure about AC-zero since i haven't picked it up yet. i love the series but i'm just not trying to fork over $50 beans for it.
25. you really think it'll be that much? the valks cost $20 and they actually do something and come with accessories, while the FP's are just accessories, decorative so to speak. theres nothing particular fresh about them that they would command a $15 price tag let alone $20. i was thinking more along the lines of $9.99....if even that. thats like yamato charging the same price for the FP kit as they're charging for their valks. yamato FP's are about a 1/3 of the price of their valks, so i would hope that toynami follows in yamatos footsteps and keep the price tag somewhat realistic.
