and thats why i still have all my 1/60's, awesome photography man! to all the 1/60 haters out there, the line for apologies starts here...hehe.
-
i don't know about you guys but this thing is looking awful in battroid mode. this will have to be a strictly fighter mode display piece for me.
-
haha, i was hoping you'd show up in this thread with that metallic abomination. so anyone got more pics of the "Vattroid" from the other page? where are you jenius?
-
^i remember this, wasn't it suppose to be recasted? while i don't really handle my 1/60's much nowadays, i have 6 x 1S that could use a decent looking head...
-
*sniffle* perhaps if this were in the custom toys section, you might have gotta more replies....haha! j/k it looks like its coming along nicely, can't wait til you get this sucker painted.

in keeping things fun, heres your chance to pick the worst mode by each company. just list the 3 modes, which company made the worst(stock)VF-1 toy in each mode, and why(if you feel like it). each mode should be judge on its overall looks based on proportions, line art and/or anime accuracy, its your pick and your eyes. they don't even have to transform, they can be single mode toys as long as they're VF-1 toys and they are ugly. this is not to bash or praise any particular company. fighter - the matchbox VF-1. i know that answer should be a given and excluded from this thread but its truly the worst toy every made. gerwalk - i hate to say it but to me its the (stock)bandai 1/55. i've seen smaller scale stuff that looks more accurate that the ever so stiff 1/55. battroid - 1/150ish scale K&M figures. its cool because its small and has 3 modes but thats the only reason why its cool. and by far its got the worst head sculpts in macross history.

what? thats it? thats all you had to say? i figured if anyone was going to slam the 1/48 it would be you. nice to see you back. 425069 Just admit it haterist, you created this thread solely to bring back drifand. Great to see you back, drifand! 425089 i secretly lust for him...well not so secretly anymore

coloring book LOL! i think they did a great job panel lining and weathering the LV1. if they could do something of similar quality, i'd buy it in a heartbeat.

so to sum up this thread... fanboy + high expectations = disappointment heres yet another factual complaint... anyone else notice that the head lasers are off? meaning, they only sculpted one set of head lasers and used it on both sides of the head....why?
-
the 1/144 doyusha valks beats it. its fighter mode is perfect in every way IMO. just look at this little master piece...
-
you gotta love all the realistic suggestions.....and yes i'm being sarcastic.

each mode should be judge on its overall looks based on proportions, line art and/or anime accuracy, its your pick and your eyes. perfect trans, the amount of details/accessories/extras doesn't matter. they don't even have to transform, they can be single mode toys as long as they're VF-1 toys. BTW, i gotta hand it to you jenius, you always have pics of everything, and i mean everything!
-
not that theres really a wrong answer to this thread but since we're talking about VF-1 toys only, you're the first person to be wrong. j/k

^stock^ i was going to mention that a swivel thigh modded 1/55 is pretty sweet but that isn't stock. to me, modded toys are models to some degree since most people that mod their toys also end up painting them.

And then you go on to state 5 of your opinions. Nice. 423779 maybe the price is my opinion but the rest of my statements were indeed facts, lets see.... fact: the head sculpt is off/ugly. anyone with a pair of eyes can see its ugly. the head sculpt on this toy is far decent, and even further from good. the only way they could've made it worse is if they let me sculpt it. fact: the shoulders are big. are you blind? how can you look at the shoulders and say they are the correct size? the shoulders are bigger than the hips...shoot they're bigger than the thighs. can you reference any line art that shows the shoulders being bigger than the valks hips/thighs. fact: backpack and tailfins are small. again i have to ask, are you blind? the backpack is tiny, and the tailfins are even more tiny, again look at the line art and show me were the backpack/tailfins are that small. fact: wacky 3 modes. so you're saying the fighter mode is tight? the gerwalk mode is near perfect? and the battroid mode is without flaws? you might want to get some glasses alice cause even a blind man would say its far from accurate. i guess you could call all of these facts opinions but whats seem in the TV show and illustrated in numerous books would suggest otherwise.

list the 3 modes, which company made the best(stock)VF-1 toy in each mode, and why(if you feel like it). this is not to bash or praise any particular company. battroid - bandai gashapon trading figures. by far the most accurate representation of the valkyrie in battroid mode that i can think of. its tiny size might have something to do with it but as far as i can tell, all the proportions are dead on. its perfect in everyway. gerwalk - yamato 1/48. probably my favorite mode and one of the only toys that can do the A-stance properly. i really can't think of another toy that can top the 1/48 gerwalk. fighter - doyusha 1/144. the sleekest and most accurate fighter mode IMO. they even tampo printed the "no step" on the wings. edit: change my answer of 1/60 fighter to the doyusha 1/144 fighter as they are by far the most accurate. granted they don't transform but its still a toy.
-
no one was(at least i wasn't) making a comparison to another toy, i'm only speaking of this particular toy and its faults. i never said there was anything better or worse out there, just what i DISLIKE about this one. truth be told, theres really is no better small scale valkyrie but that doesn't mean this toy is good, its just that this is the only one. even if yamato made these exactly as is, i'd still feel the same way about them. its doesn't matter what company made these, it doesn't change the fact that isn't the greatest toy. as i've before, i'm not swearing these off at all, i'm just swearing off paying $20 for them.
-
instead of bashing each other or toynami, how about we bring facts into play. here are some of the reasons why i dislike this toy... 1. head sculpt - its just plain ugly, i think we can all agree on that one. how it got approved all the way to the factory line is beyond me. 2. shoulders - why make them so big? in doing so, they managed to negatively affect the look in every mode...lame. 3. backpack/tailfins - its tiny, i'm mean really tiny especially those dinky little tailfins. can something be small and still be an eye sore? 4. price - $20 does NOT equal what you get. sure its a price point toy that almost anyone can afford but it doesn't change the fact that it isn't worth $20 for all its shortcomings. 5. wacky 3 modes - out of the 3 modes, they managed to get one right...gerwalk since thats next to impossible to get wrong. fighter mode looks horrid and battroid isn't far behind. maybe if i smoke a bunch of drugs and squint real hard.... editted for the grammar police.

anyone else notice this, the neck piece(flat piece of plastic attached to the head) looks like it goes down into the fuselage in battroid mode. theres a little plastic nub on it like it supposed to keep it from going all the way down or something but it definitely looks like it slides down.
-
its kind of a toss up between the 21 and 11B. i want the 21 more but i think it'll take yamato a lot of time to get it right, not like the floppy mess that is the 1/72. the 11B on the otherhand is pretty sweet too and judging from the transformation of 1/72 version, it seems it would be a lot easier to make/for yamato to get it wrong. i could careless about the x-9, it doesn't even transform so i probably wouldn't buy it at all. yamato should use their resources on the above mentioned valks and hold off on this until they run out of stuff to make.

another good suggestion. its not so much that the front LG doors chip from opening and closing them, they chip because the front LG doors rub up against the swing bar when its in battroid mode. if you look at a valk that has paint chips on the LGs, you'll notice its usually right smack dab in the middle of the doors, which is exactly the position where the swing bar makes contact with them....grrrrrr its a pisser! i've been sticking a piece of thin plastic between it to prevent this from happening but if the LG doors were plastic, it would save me the trouble.

haha, nice custom....errrr touch up.
