you're absolutely right, no question. i still find it funny because no matter how good of a job yamato does, theres always people that will find some kind of fault. don't get me wrong, i used to batty about their toys too(and i mean a lot of battyin) but i've grown more appreciative of their efforts lately. i look at all my yammies and can't help thinking how glad i am some company out there is making something i'm willing to buy.

woulda, coulda, shoulda, yamato never wins.

none of my stuff is near a window, let alone in direct sunlight....i ain't crazy. i have a air purifier and an ionic breeze i keep in the same room to keep my stuff clean and to prevent anything bad from happening. the only pilot figures i keep in the cockpit are the ones displayed in gerwalk or fighter modes. heres the rundown... the 3 LV pilots seem to be fine but i took them out anyway just in case. the plastic pilot figs(DYRL) ones are fine, excluding 1S hikaru pilot figure. out of the the 6 CF i have 2 are bad, but only 2 were left seated in the valk so i'm not sure about the others? 1 TV hikaru has paint on its elbow and butt. i removed the rest of my pilot figures when i first TF'ed my valks to display battroid mode so there no telling which ones are bad? note: the paint comes right off the pilots butt, its not permanent. the seat where the paint came off is white(original plastic color before it was painted by yamato) and needs to be touched up or replaced.

a while back i traded some valks with another member here and for whatever reason, the paint from the cockpit seat came off and ended up on pilots ass. well i thought it was a one time thing, then the other night while messing around displaying my stuff, i took the pilot figures out of the cockpits and sure enough, the paint from the cockpit seat came off again...WTF? so i thought i'd check a couple of my other valks that had pilots sitting in them and sure enough some of the paint came off those as well. now i usually don't keep the pilot figures in the valks(i'm just weird like that) so i can't say for sure which ones are bad/good but so far, the CF pilots seem to be the worst(2 of them had a lot of paint on their butts as well as my TV hikaru but not as bad), while all the plastic DYRL pilots were completely unaffected. i'm not sure why this is happening?, but i assume that some chemical in the rubber pilot is reacting with the paint and causing the properties of the paint to change and adhere to the rubber pilot. i'm not sure if this has happened to anyone else but i thought i'd give everyone a heads up just in case.

Gatsu, while it seems like a daunting task to take a 1/48 apart and put it back together, its actually pretty straight forward, just bust out your instruction booklet(it helps) and start unscrewing things. at this point i can disassemble and reassemble a valk without even thinking about it, thats how simple it he assembly is. the only part thats sort of a pain is the legs cause theres a tension spring in the knee joint, but outside of the legs the rest is a cinch. for the legs... first, remove the plastic bit on the inner calf of the valk. its the piece with the little nub that hold the arms in place in fighter mode. once you remove the cover(use fun-tac or something sticky on it and pull it out) make sure to take that screw out first. second, remove the rubber screw cover on the inside knee joint. while holding it tight, start unscrewing it. be sure to hold it tight while you're doing it because theres a tension spring in the knee joint that will want to pop out. once you got the screw out, try to keep track of where all the piece came from and just put it back together. mister_e, the screw you want to remove is on the underside of the center assembly, theres only one screw there(its dead center) that holds the entire backpack section, remove it and its pretty cut and dry from that point. you'll need a pokey tool of some sort to remove the hinge pin but thats about it.

i found it on page 24 of this thread(hayao's pics), here are some pics of how the backpack should look if done properly.. battroid gerwalk
-
honestly, i think you guys are doing it wrong because mine is nice and tight and isn't floppy in the slightest. unlike the BP8 on the 1/48 which only has the one hinge point, the VF-0 actually has 2 hinge points. i'll try to find a pic of it..

yes pat, i'd like to buy a vowel.....is there an A?
-
thats sucks some of these are breaking, i've been man-handling mine(i'm planning on buying another one soon so it doesn't matter) and haven't had a single problem with it. the only real issue i have with this toy is the not-as-tight fighter mode and its limited poseability in battroid mode.

sorry dudes, these guys are taking forever. *sigh* the first order went through lightening fast, but waiting for the missing pieces to arrive is moving at a snails pace. according to the website, it can take up to 14 days to get parts ready, maybe they got overwhelmed with orders? either way, i hope i hear from them soon.
-
sorry to hear that dude but there is one plus side, the tailfins are removeable which means you can get replacements without having to ship back the entire valk. i know its not what you want to hear but things could be worse.

haha, its only annoying if actually think he's going to answer you....me, i'm rather enjoying people playing hang-man with graham sig. i still say its the 21 but if its a the SDF-1, i know i'll have to give up one of my kidneys.

pick a red/blue thats close and just paint the arrows. even if they don't match perfectly, its nearly impossible to tell since theres no other red/blue highlights on the S head to draw a comparison to. seriously, unless you 're holding a swatch of the red/blue next to the head, you'll never be able to tell. if you want a really close match and don't want to paint at all, you can use the left over leg armor arrows stickers from the FP kit. http://www.macrossworld.com/mwf/uploads/po...-1095874328.jpg i checked out the M&M's and the nose cones on the rest of my valks and the M&M nose cones are definitely a brighter shade of white in comp to the rest of the valks.

i assume you pushed the backpack hinge up so the wings can fit a little better? i know it was tighter before i noticed the whole backpack piece hinges upward. so far i haven't noticed any paint wear, but i'm worried about it. i'm trying to keep TFing and handling to a minimum and pray it doesn't get jacked. and as far as landing gears, yeah there a total pain to pull out, like my fingernails are getting ripped off, but its still one of the freshest features on this thing.
-
i for one am glad no ones sitting there cause i'm supposed to be piloting that valk from behind my computer desk.
-
thanks alphaHX! :D ha, nevermind, i see you tweaked rodavans pics, you did an awesome job man.

i hear ya, but i can't help but to notice was is and what was. i know comparing the 2 isn't really fair, its like people who compare the 1/48 to the MPC, but now its the 1/60 to the 1/48. i know this sounds silly and please nobody kill me but, it almost hurts my eyes to look at the 1/48 now, i honestly don't think i'll ever buy another 1/48 VF-1 again(outside of the 2 seaters). getting back to the 0A, so i got to play with it some more and noticed the angled landing gears, poseable clicky thighs, front landing gear light, angled landing gears, the adjustable backpack thrusters, how the feet slide left and right.....and did i forget to mention the super dope angled landing gears?!?!? thats right, i mentioned it 3 times but thats how freakin awesome that feature is! i should probably look at the booklet but real men don't use instructions, thats for girls. i can hear it whispering all the way here in NYC..."free me ghostryder, free me"! wait till you play with it and you'll see what i'm talking about. yes i'm currently suffering from new valk syndrome but i love it!

the megatron being a gun issue isn't even an issue, all they have to do is package it in robot mode. but that would make too much sense so its not likely to happen. -
1/48 VF-1 - the best in terms of durability and detail, you won't be disappointed in the least. 1/55 VF-1 MPC - its not worth buying unless you find them below $40 but even then they'll leave a bad taste in your mouth....not a great toy at all but its got a nice box. 1/60 VF-1 - it has the best battroid mode and is the most complete line of macross toys in terms of scale. just note that they have removeable legs. its a love/hate thing with this toy. personally i love'em but that doesn't mean you will. maybe just buy a cheap one and take it for a spin. 1/60 VF-0 - newest release by yamato and pretty much tops anything on the market right now. its actually better than the 1/48 VF-1 in a lot of ways. you really can't go wrong with this one.
-
maybe it just me? but if you tap the plastic with your fingernail you can hear the difference between them and if you compare the DYRL hands and you'll also be able to tell the difference. i know thats sounds strange but check it out when you get a chance.
-
i had the same problem last night but i figured out the backpack hinge hinges upward. its weird to describe, but unlike the VF-1 backpack hinge design which sits flush to the back of the valk, the VF-0 backpack hinge was designed to hinge upward to hold backpack firm....does that make sense? added: this is sort of off topic but does anyone else feel like the 1/48 is obsolete now?

sorry to hear about your defective SS, i know it sucks but i wouldn't worry too much about it. Joel has always been a pretty stand up guy. he's probably in the "shipping zone" as he calls it(packing boxes like a maniac) and hasn't gotten around to answering his emails yet, just give him some time and i'm sure you'll hear form him soon. -
same place where the TV 1A heads and fulcy armored gerwalk are chillin, vaporville. update: i got the hands the other day but there was a problem with the order, basically they left out one piece and that the reason for the delay. the missing part is on order and will be here shortly. i'll keep you guys posted.
