i'm sorry to hear you broke yours david. i ended up doing exactly what you did and unscrewed the little dark grey pieces. i watched grahams video and understood what had to be done but i just couldn't take the chance of breaking this thing. after opening it up, i now know exactly how that particular transformation process works. i can somewhat do it without fear....well i still fear it but i did TF it to battroid mode last night without snapping anything so thats a good thing. one thing i noticed to make the TF process a bit easier is to seperate the 2 halves of the valk to make it easier to work with. for those who don't have one yet, the leg and lower torso section seperates from the head, arms and upper lower sections. BTW, david and his extensive aviation knowledge is hard to follow at times, so im simple terms.... launch bar = tow hook nice mod takatoys! i don't care for the wing flap feature much, but seeing how featureless the 19 is, its adds a little something to it. good stuff!

but is that a good thing or a bad thing? yamato owns me....they own all of us!

wow dude, thanks for the link! its quite the interesting read. i guess i'm gonna look it buying a sealed vault for my toys.
-
granted it yellowed but i hate you anyway!

each? or the pair? each is a rip. the pair is a fair deal.

its pretty unavoidable cause almost all white plastics tend to yellow over time no matter what you do. of course i've taken every precaution known to man to prevent this, but who knows if it really works or not? i'll let you know in about 20 years.

i love my 1/60s! i have all of them including customs. i'd consider selling one of my 1/48's long before selling one of my 1/60's. the 1/48's are the shiznit but the 1/60 line is complete and its also what i started out with. the only way i'd sell my 1/60's is if they fetched 1/48-esque prices, other than that hells no!

cool, i thought it was kind of weird to have a random piece of tape on my valk.
-
i don't remember them being in space, they were the ground forces on the RDF. you might want to watch southern cross again.

haha, i final got mine! though i did have to sneak into the bathroom and TF it since i'm at work. so far its pretty cool but i almost had a heartattack when i had to split the fuselage open. other than that, the transformation was pretty straight forward and easy to figure out. but really, splitting that fuselage is just too much for me. its has to get easier or something otherwise this thing is sitting in one mode months at a time and i'll have to take it apart screw by screw to TF it. its only nerve racking going from battroid to fighter and vise versa. well back to the bathroom for me, i gotta TF it back and put it away before i get in trouble. kind of a odd question but did anyone else 19 have scotch tape on it? namely on the 4 black circles right behind the head in battroid mode? and is there a reason for this?

i say hold out and get something other than another VF-1. i understand the need ot get them all but a VF-1 is a VF-1 is a VF-1. get something different like the konig monster or the YF-19.
-
i wouldn't say they're fragile but you do have to handle them with some care. out of all the yamato toys i've owned(and i owned/own a lot of them), i've only had 2 ever break on me. first time it was the BP8 on a 1/48 and it was totally my fault. i was on the couch TFing it and dropped it like a moron. it was only 1 foot drop but it fell perfectly in a way that the BP8 just snapped. second time is the shoulder on my VF-0A which is totally not my fault. i've probably TF'ed it a total of 3 times and the shoulder is on the verge of breaking, thats not cool.

alright, so my new favorite macross character is NB4M. you don't actually get to see him in any of the macross shows/movies(hes busy baking cakes with Marce ) but he's in the one that makes thing happen. i'm gonna drink a 6 pack in your honor!
-
it ain't only you dude, i think its all of MW. i could honestly care less about the VE and VT(i think it requires too much work on their part), but they should atleast make the 1D. maybe NB4M will make his 1D kit for us, IIRC it supposed to be perfect trans too, though i do have captain americas conversion kit as a backup just in case it never happens.

glad i bought a bunch of them way back when. yamato hands are about as good as their stickers.
-
i can't totally disagree. at first i was totally on yamato nuts after i got my VF-0A, i thought it was the coolest thing out and was totally psyched that it didn't have any crazy issues like the VF-0S. then i saw the "Please Read" thread and noticed all the broken shoulders only to find the shoulder on mine was broken/breaking too. its one thing when i had to deal with a small problem that i could fix and live with(i.e. gunpod won't attach to TV FP forearms), but its totally another thing when a major part of the toys breaks, with no way to fix it or replace it. the part that pisses me off the most is, i'm sure the majority of us are delicate with our toys, i mean i handle my toys like i'd handle a newborn child, yet it just broke on its own....WTF is that lame ass crap about? until yamato provides replacement parts, i don't care what they make or how cool it is, i'm simply not buying their stuff, period, end of story.
-
holy frijoles! wheres thats drolling emoticon when you need it.
-
seeing as i don't really care for the nora paint scheme(i assume its the nora since her valk is the only one shown "flapping" her wings), i'm not that excited. also, with the recent design flaws and poor choice of materials by yamato, i have no desire to plunk down $150+ to pick this up and have it break on me. sorry yamato, but i'm kind of tired of spending that kind of money for one of your toys, then having to fix your problems or just deal with it.
-
i forgot how many problems the VF-0S had, i'm so glad i skipped out on that one. i really want it but as is, i'd rather not buy a lemon just to fill the void in my collection. if these problems were a QC issue, then its not really on yamato shoulders to provide replacement parts, i mean stuff happens time to time, but seeing as these recent problems are actually DESIGN FLAWS and/or use of POOR QUALITY PLASTICS, they really should do something about it. as is, i've pretty much swore off yamato for the moment. the VF-0S/A and recent release of the subpar YF-19 has left a bad taste in my mouth. yeah its nice that they're making the toys i love, but i shouldn't have to take it in the ass just because they're the only game in town. i mean why should i make the exception for yamato, its not like they give a rat ass about me, actually any of us for that matter....

just a heads up but someone here is selling their super hikaru for $225 shipped. its bit more than you wanted to pay but there doesn't seem to be any on ebay right now.. http://www.macrossworld.com/mwf/index.php?showtopic=21193 you can always opt to get the 1J hikaru by itself(a heck of a lot cheaper) and buy a set of strike FPs. the strike FPs aren't the same color as the TV FP's but you'll save money in the long run and get a strike cannon too. laftoys.com has the FPs on sale for under $50.... http://www.laftoys.com/product_info.php?cP...;products_id=11 and you can get the 1J hikkie on ebay....or any of the fine vendors/sellers that you see listed in the dealers section http://search-desc.ebay.com/search/search....ntrypage=search

if i were you, i'd buy a canon valk like the 1J super hikaru or the 1S roy. if you buy a non-canon valk like the stealth, your childhood nostalgia won't be fulfilled and you'll end up buying one later down the road. i know it sounds silly but thats exactly what happened to me. i bought the LV1 then sat around being like, i should've gotten the super 1J hikkie, then ended up convincing myself i HAVE to have the roy, then the max, then all the other ones. this hobby will suck your pockets dry, so if you're gonna just get one, choose wisely.

i've seen this question pop up here time to time but i just don't get it? i mean, just look for screws and start taking it apart. the only hidden screws are in the inner knees(remove the rubber venier and unscrew). then theres another down by the calves, you have to slide out the rectangular part that holds the arms in fighter mode. you can do this by prying it out with a thin knife, or just put anything sticky it on and pulling it out. as far as putting it back together, you'd be amazed how easy and straight forward it is. if you do it once, you can probably do it blindfolded, its really that simple.
-
well you can sign me up for a couple right shoulders NB4M. even if graham gets replacement parts for us, i'd still like to have a couple just in case.
-
you say that now but i'll tell ya straight, this won't be your only one. i said the same thing when i purchased my 1st 1/48, believe me when i say this, yamato will own you!
