nah, yamato sent out a letter along with each purchase and asked customers not to reveal any info that hurt potential sales of their products. i'm sure we'll know the truth after they sell about 3/4 of their production run.
-
don't get me wrong, i'm fighting the urge as well but i can't help but to think how little you get for the money you're spending. if you compare this SDF-1 to anything else out about/around the same price range, it can't even compete. it doesn't do anything but transform. theres no gimmicks, no special features, nothing that really makes it worth owning other than nostalgias sake. for $130, i'd get another valk(be it 1/48 or 1/60) which includes tons of features and accessories rather than this dinky thing which is tiny to begin with and its only feature being a display stand....woohoo!
-
considering its one of the only VF-1D toys out there, its definitely worth owning. as far as future invest for resale, its a crap shoot like anything else. if you like it buy it, if you just want to sell it later down the road, why even bother? why not spend your money on something you actually want to own.
-
this wasn't worth $130+ back when it first came out. this isn't worth $130 now that it has a new paint job.
-
i don't play with my toys much either, like you, i just display them and ooo and ahhh a lot. i don't mind fixing stuff, i rather enjoy it but it seems a bit ridiculous to pay full price for something that is known to have problems. you're certainly not going to pay for a new car with problems and justify it because you can fix it yourself, same goes for these or any other luxury item. anyway, i just wish we got a straight answer cause i've been holding off in buying this since the day it came out.
-
its coming out the same time as the 1/60 FPs.
-
just curious as to why you(or anyone for that matter) would buy it, with no knowledge of the problems being fixed?
-
this question falls into the catagory of unanswered questions that have been asked way too many times. basically its one of those question we'll never get a straight answer to. i <3 yamato.
-
they should've made these in clear plastic. i would've been all over both of these.
-
my point was that it looks funny without them, it just looks strange cause its visible in battroid mode. i could be wrong but i'm pretty sure all the other valks in the macross universe(dyrl, plus, zero, 7) have intake covers, its just strange that this is the only one that doesn't.
-
no, you won't have the same problem with the 1/48. the 1/48 is a engineering marvel. its perfect transformation which means there no parts swapping. its pretty much the best transforming toy yamato has put out to date. the only 1/60 valks that are worth owning are.... VF-0S - from macross zero. its basically the prototype of the VF-1S that roy focker flies in the macross TV show(or robotech if you will) its got a few flaws that are still unresolved so i suggest you wait for the eventual upcoming re-release. VF-0A - also from macross zero. think of it as the older version of the VF-1A you own right now as far as the macross timeline. this also has some flaws and i suggest you wait a bit before more news is heard if fixes are being made. YF-19 - featured in macross plus and one of my personal favorites. totally worth picking up, try to get the bundled set with the fold booster and FP's(fast packs). SV-51 - from macross zero. it just came out a couple of weeks ago so i'm a bit worried about plunking my money down for it. i'd wait a little longer to see if any problems arise, its a $200+ toy after all. YF-21 - also in macross plus, but isn't out yet. if you haven't seen macross plus, you need to see it to know why this is a must have. i know all this seems overwhelming but i hope it helps. and welcome to macrossworld, please adjust your trays to the upright position and check your wallet at the door. you're not gonna be seeing it for a longtime.
-
am i just noticing that the 51 doesn't have intake covers at all? thats just lame even if it is canon.
-
well i haven't checked mine yet but i know they used the same shitty plastic for the 19 arm assembly(dark grey) as they did the VF-0A. i love my YF-19 but if that shits broke, i'm shunning yamato forever.

its been less than a month and its looking awesome so far. MechTech really needs to take some notes.
-
just throwing this out there but, all the gold paint runs along the edges of valks, edges which tend to be high traffic areas so to speak. so do you guys think the gold paint will hold up through several transformations?
-
i got around to checking some of my boxed 1/60s and like many others, my 1A hikaru is yellowing but all the other ones seem fine, hopefully they'll stay that way.
-
and of course, theres still no word what "limited" means?
-
ha! i don't think they could fit "the artist formerly known as Prince" on the side of the cockpit.....or maybe its just too fast and too furious?
-
so sick. model dudes always make the coolest stuff. thanks for psoting this.
-
it looks promising, but so did series 1. weren't these things riddled with problems? 1. mystery packaging so you don't know what you're buying 2. no guarantee you get all of them even if you buy an entire case 3. chase figure gayness...maybe its in there, maybe it isn't. 1+2+3 = none of my money
-
i'd vote but you left out one option... on the fence until i know what limited means we still have no confirmation how limited its going to be?, how many are they making?, what are the production numbers?
-
ha! not even close. you should be burned at the stake for comparing the beauty that is the LV1 to this gawdy gold atrocity!
-
heres a 1S group shot of the 1/48, 1/60, K&M poseable, 2 bandai mission gashapons, the K&M battroid, and doyusha valk.

i'd get the YF-19. the first release 19 is okay but i'd go with the foldildo combo set, just incase you have the need to buy it later. the neck isn't any easier to break but it isn't really that hard IMO. i've TF'ed mine atleast 40 times with no problems or fears. the SV-51 seems alright but why take a chance on it? i'd let yamato fix some of the issues people have been talking about before throwing down $200+. don't get me wrong, it looks beautiful but i'm fighting myself everyday not to buy it because of the some of the things i read here so far. i just don't see the point of bying something that has problems solely due to my being impatient. the way i see it, if you waited this long to buy the 19, there must've been a reason(my guess is you were probably waiting for the fixed verison) so i'd buy 19 and wait for a latter/better release of the SV-51. just my 2 cents.
