What do you use to remove the paint on the 1/48s
do not disturb replied to Godzilla's topic in The Workshop!
hey man, just get some brasso its a brass/metal polish. you can fin it in any hardware store for like 3 bucks. it removes the paint off my lego minifigs. if anyones got some old ass minifigs they'll know what i'm talking about...that paint doesn't come off. the brasso removes it real nice without damaging the plastic what so ever....atleast it works for my lego pieces and other plastisc i've used on it. get a old t-shirt, put a quarter sized amount of on it(add more as needed), and rub the painted piece back and forth on the rag. be sure rub the piece back and forth on the rag, and not the other way around or you'll be sitting there a long time. you have to use a little elbow grease but it should take about 15 seconds of rubbing to get a majority of the paint off. i speak no lies, this stuff is a miracle worker and did i mention it also removes chrome paint without damaging the plastic too! brasso da BOMB. get your bottle today! just -
dude that wedding dress auction just made my day. this guys is too funny. i should email him to come to a yankee game with me.

that thing looks awesome compared to most of the SDF-1 toys out there...its nice and shiney. i think drifand has one...atleast i think i saw it in his gallery?
-
i'm gonna pick up another max real soon, i made my 1A max into a 1S max and i don't like "holes" in my collection. *added* and i would buy the 1D, VE, VT, CF, 1A kaz. throw'em at me and i'll find a way to buy them.

if you want to be patient, you can always wait for yamato to make some destroids. there are no actual facts to back this statement up but most of us are hoping/praying that yamato takes a step towards something other than VF's. either way heres a pic of the destroid...in 1/60 scale(sort of)

it sounds pretty sah-weet! you got a pic of it? just so i can be jealous. Okay it took me a bit to figure out the digital camera but here are some pictures of the BTTF2 1:18 Delorean. It's made by a company called Sun Star. Think I'll just play it safe and post links since the pictures are kinda big. Forgive me if I don't do this right. Delorean and Batmobile Delorean Engine detail Sorry I couldn't focus in a little more on the Mr. Fusion, but it clearly reads Mr. Fusion. it looks pretty good to me, and the wheels actually flip down way cool. i'll check the local shops otherwise i'm off to ebay. thanks for the pics. a little of topic but check this out. its the same guy who makes the flexidisplay stands and thought it would be sweet to get one for some of these...atleast the BM.

fair enough....i hear what you're saying. i was comparing the 2 based on the fact they are both brand new products(non VF) produced by yamato. i still feel a lot of work went into the q-rau in itself but it certainly doesn't TF. *added* your avatar...its that from "the romp"? the cartooning looks like one of jakes buddies from that site.

No, they really aren't that good. They're better. Save your money and skip two smaller, crappier toys, then go buy a 1/48 VF-1 and some FAST packs. You won't regret it. yup what he said. i ended buying a bunch of other scale valks only to find out the 1/48 is basically the best the market has to offer....two thumbs up.

thanks for the comps guys. yes i'm the sithlord of lego....though i trade places with the MW sithlord any day of the week. its actually clonies and stormies, though its hard to tell in the pic. stormies ROCK! and clonies are just cool. its taken me 3 years to amass what i have now, and....I MUST HAVE MORE! wolfx, the air purifier/hepa filter blows the air around constantly, basically keeping all the dust and particles moving around as well as sucking in what in can into its filter. the ionic breeze catches alot of the dust and debris and it collects on the collection rod. i change the filter for the AP once in a blue moon, and the IB i whip off every once in a while.... i didn't get either with the intention of keeping my toys dust free, it just happen to work out that way. the air purifier i got for free and the ionic breeze i got because i live in NYC and the air here is f-ed up....who would've thunk it!

They're out already, well the ECTO-1 is, not sure about the Delorean. I'm gonna pass by F&S to pick them up, maybe this Wed. Amazon sells these for $25. That's the regular price at F&S. But the Batmobile seems to be available for less in some booths. I'll tell you guys if the others can befound at that price. http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detai...v=glance&s=toys http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detai...v=glance&s=toys thanks for the links EXO. looks like i'm gonna have to get 2 of these suckers. i know if i buy one, i'll keep it sealed for so long, before i have to tear it open and play. i need another hobby like i need a hole in my head, but the 1989 batmobile, outside of the ol'skool TV version(which was the shiznit back in the day) is my fav. the other BM's didn't do it for me at all they all looked too cartoonie.(sp?) i'd get it from amazon but they charge tax and shipping. what i'm really looking for is the james bond roll royce. the one with the machines guns and rear view bullet proof pop-up plate. i used to take this toy everywhere til i lost it.

Very true. As I can't afford anymore space in my smallish apartment, I could only spec 12" deep shelves... I wanted 18" at least but the interior designer desuaded me. I just make do with what I have, now. Check out my link below... :-) nice dispalys man....must've cost you a small fortune for those. me, i spent a whopping $250 for my shelves seen here(the pics are old).... CLICK ME though my love for SW lego got the good shelves. i had my macross stuff there for a while but it loked out of place surrounded by lego. *added* i see you still refuse to buy a 1/48. i was like you once, but now i've turned to the darkside.

that thing is looking hot....even hotter for $20! F&S = frank and sons? none of those here in these neck of the woods unfortunately. they're coming out with a BTTF delorean? ECTO-1? hot wheels? i thought they only made minicars? i guess i need to catch up with the times.

same thing was said about the q-rau, and so far i don't have any problems with it....though i'm sure their are many here who beg to differ. i guess i'll end up being one of their testing dummies....
-
check out brickshelf.com, mocpages.com, or lugnet.com otherwise, you can always make you're own....after all it is built out of lego.

Hey now. Those low vis are part of my master plan. master plan!?!?! well then let me be a part of it and send some of those puppies this way. --> if not, send them anyway, i swear i'll be your newest bestest friend in the whole wide world.

if you need specific parts and/or piece check out www.bricklink.com you can pretty much find any piece, in any color there. thats where i go for my brick needs. agent one, pics are hot! but they need to change some of the colors around.

i just have open shelves at the moment but i have an air purifier which constantly blows the air around and a ionic breeze to gather and collect a majority of the dust. it works pretty well for the most part but glass cabinets are too heavy....i live in a 6 floor walkup. the real problem is finding shelves that are deep enough. most shelving units average around 18" in depth while i want something along the lines of 24"+ i think CID had a nice collection with glass display cabinets?

That's nice. very. with roses. lol. can't a guy just dream....
-
definitely post some pics as you go along.... i'm AFOL so i'm interested in seeing what you guys come up with and willing to help with any ideas and feedback. also check out this guys site... wwww.brickcommander.com someone here pointed me there a while back and they seem to have free instructions as opposed to foundrydx.

hey i that call it enterprising. thats just like you walking into a ferrari dealership. its not like they're forcing you to pay $300K for a 308, thats just the price they're asking for it. are they then scapling since they have 50 more in the lot? if you don't have the funds or don't think its worth it, theres always the next guy. in this seller's case, hes waiting for that next guy and usually that next guy is called a "sucker". and as they say, theres a new sucker born everyday. i should do the same thing now you mention it. i should be able to pick these up on clearance for next to nothing.
-
no matter what people want to say, the toy is only worth what the next person who wants it is willing to pay for it. so the low-viz could be worth $300 now but 2 months from now this could all change, right? i.e. Joke Machines. so, you never really know whats gonna happen, not that any of this matters anyway. i don't buy toys with the thought of price going up, i buy them cause i like them. i have a low-viz but if i didn't, i surely wouldn't pay $200 for it, let alone $300. its not because i'm not a "true collector" but because i already have a problem paying $120+ for any of these valks, so why would i pay $300??? but thats just me, if you got the loot, i say go for it! i don't hate, i don't discriminate. let everyone live how they wanna live i say! back on topic, limited or not, they could do limited runs for a 1J and 1S in the LV paint scheme and make that much more money from the same molds/sculpts....atleast thats what any smart business man would do.
-
yup, abotu 12 doods got hooked up.... i know i wanted another but thought it would be unfair if i got 2 while another member was praying to get just one so i waited and the project came to a close.
-
probably cause the people who want them got them and the people who have them(like me) have no desire to part with them. Godzilla has 5 of them and could easily go on a nice vacation if he sold 4 of them but he won't cause the low viz is just too friggin fresh to just sell off...no matter what the price tag....well maybe. what i'd like to know is why doesn't yamato release a 1J and 1S low-viz? they got the molds and they know it would sell so whats the hold up? it would still keep the 1A LV in the "limited edition" status and yamato would make bank if they released these..... yamato? anyone?
